Yes, and it was exactly as I said... he had to cross in front of Hurts... and didn't get the proper width to take the block on squarely.  Hurts should have moved him to the other side of him presnap if the OL was going to block to their right.   Bad protection call.    Alternatively, had the OL shifted left, he would have been in perfect position to pick up the blitzer on the right side, and would have been a better size matchup for Barkley as well taking on a DB, rather than a LB with a full head of steam.

I see a lot of chatter that the defense played well yesterday, but all I saw was the defense being bailed out by Browns' penalties and Watson's misfires.

It's quite the phenomenon that some people are dragging Barkley's play for a handful of mistakes when he's been far and away our best player, but those same people will defend Hurts tooth and nail for the same mistakes five seasons in.

Huff finally showed something yesterday.

Hurts is:

16th in passing yards

21st in passing TDS

17th in QB Rating

The only thing top 10 about their offense is rushing, which carries them into top 10 in yards (as you pointed out) and that's it.

Every other metric they are average/below average.

Look, I want him to play better too.  But this is a little disingenuous. They had an early bye week and just about everybody ranked ahead of him in yards and TDs has an extra game.  If you add one more game to his stats with 250 yards and a couple TDs, then he is top 10.

I’m just happy that he had a turnover free game… Hope it’s the start of him protecting the ball better.

Saw something during my morning reading that made zero sense…the Eagles OL has the second worst pressures allowed rate in the NFL?  At 45%?  OL to me has looked pretty darn good.  Obviously a few mistakes, but overall good.  Is that Hurts holding the ball too long or running into pressure?  @just relax your thoughts?

I think that's a bogus stat you saw. Here's a site that shows the Eagles have the third-longest time from snap to throw or pressure. https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/advanced-stats-qb.php

Yes, I think Hurts holds the ball too long. Pressures that come from holding the ball are on the QB, the receivers, or the play call, but not on the OL. Most quick throws in this league are to the first read. I think Hurts comes off that read too quickly or doesn't trust it. Those pressures are on him. We seem to run a lot of crossing patterns or drags that take time to develop. Those pressures are on the play call.

We could easily be 2-3 right now or worse, if it wasn’t for Barkley

Does Sirianni have a drug abuse problem?

No, he just spontaneously shaved his head and has emotional outbursts. He's fine.

I think it's fair to point out where Barkley still has some Giants stench on him.

Eagles should have found a way to keep TJ Edwards.  He's not great by any means but he did very well.

I seem to remember that the consensus on TJ at the time was "he's okay, but we can do better".

It’s funny when he was here the board said he sucked and didn’t make any plays.

He's 17th in Passer Rating and 11th in QBR.  He's playing like a second quartile QB.  Not fatal as long as he doesn't turn the ball over.

They are surviving on explosive plays.  They ran 62 plays on offense.  About half of their yards came on 6 plays.

The numbers are what they are. I understand the early bye, but these are what we have available as of this moment. I'm not going to grant him 250 yards and multiple TDs just because. What if he had a stinker and threw 4 picks and only 131 yards instead?

It's also quite a phenomenon that Hurts played really well yesterday, whereas Barkley tried his best to lose the game for them, yet the narrative is that the team can't go anywhere with Hurts at qb.

IIRC, he was the first FA signing that offseason.  He had his mind set on going home to Chicago.

People's biases and agendas come out in stuff like this. Hurts' turnovers, Siri's decisions, defense giving up easy completions, CJGJ giving up easy TDs...there's a list of things that if they didn't happen the game would have been different. Barkley's had a couple mistakes but been a great player.

He was okay, and there are better players out there... Howie and Co. just can't seem to find them.  No more evidence is required.

Hurts' issues are foundational to our long-term prospects this season and beyond.

Barkley has had three bad plays.
