Can it be possible that Steichen was just better at dialing up the plays in Siri's offense

Its just the same questions over and over. Seemingly intentionally ignoring the answers. And round and round we go in this circular conversation.

It was very clear that teams figured it out. We all saw and heard the bucs talking about Hurts on their sideline and the coach saying "He cant read!"

The RPO that was so successful a year prior began being defended differently making Hurts hesitate and unsure of the correct read on what is supposed to be a quick hitting play. Hurts also lost some of his speed and became a less effective runner. Not only slower, but at times not willing to take a hit and run with power which was his biggest strength as a runner to begin with even when he had better speed.

He was never a good enough passer to just rely on his arm. He was most dangerous when his legs could bail us out on 3rd downs and extend drives. We lost that threat, and now long drives always feel like a struggle.

If Huff HAS to play in a 4 point stance to be effective at all than the blame should be focused on Howie more than anyone else.

I thought Vic had a lot of say in who they brought in though? If not then yes howie deserves all of it. That being said you spent the money you might as well use him to his strength to get something in return.

And then he went to the Super Bowl.

Yes, defenses started using a lot of disguised zone coverages which a good qb should have no problem picking apart....

He had two terrible offseasons in a row, he and Lurie are most to blame for this. Howie for the roster flaws, and Lurie for not having the balls to mak a coaching change

Oh boy, Patriots/Jaguars on Sunday morning

I don’t really remember anything saying he had a lot of say. I think that was the assumption given he was such a veteran DC guy. The one thing I remember was in OTAs he was asked about LB’ers and he had to pull a roster out of his pocket because he didn’t even know who was on the team.

and then he never came close to that level of effectiveness again. And will never get to another super bowl as a starting QB.

I know the Hunt pick was supposedly all Vic, thats why i assumed he had say in most of the players.

Or maybe we will. You have been wrong in the past. So there's a precedent here.

Folks, not every move works out, and sometimes expectations are too high.

Reddick was an undersized pass rushing DE who couldn't drop into coverage, if Huff is best used that way, so what?

Meanwhile, Mitchell and DeJean look like they're reshaping the secondary, CJGJ may be a disappointment, White may have been a whiff, but Baun is a HR.

Becton is another extra base hit, jury still out on Dotson, Barkley is definitely a HR.

So whatever the problems on this team, don't think it's fair to blame the offseason.

You don't get a pick more gift-wrapped than that.

Another thing to consider, if Barkley picks up that 1st down or picks up the blitz, good chance the final score is 27-9 and no one is ****ing this week.

Hurts struggled out of the gate after two weeks off (0 for 5) then was red hot the rest of the game without Goedert and Mailata hurt.

Calcaterra showed he can throw the ball over the middle when he has a target - Calcaterra can't block - he's basically a big WR.

If all the bad plays didn’t exist, they play a better game. Thanks for that.

Miss me with the Al Michaels hate. Love that guy. His petty beef with McMillian is cracking me up over here

But if all the bad posters didn't exist, the Blog would be boring.

I give thanks for them every day.  :smoke:

That's valid. But also not solely on Hurts. Coaches around the league scheme for QBs strengths & weaknesses.

Running the ball, taking the points on 4th down are just a couple simple examples of how to help a struggling QB.

One would think they will feature Barkley prominently against the Giants, but stranger things have happened

Nah. They were 10-1 last year and people complained after every win.

Get ready for a heavy dose of...

Gainwell, and WR screens for a loss.
