The criticism is not of him, but of those who are hailing today's performance as something to herald.  There's a difference, but not many seem to be able to see the nuance there.   Hurts played like you would want a game manager type QB to play.  Trent Dilfer, Brock Purdy, Rex Grossman...  If he can be carried by all the guys around him, and he doesn't screw it up with bad turnovers, then that can be a winning formula.   BUT, the coaches would have to lean in to that style of offense and he'd have to embrace it and not try to play hero ball.

I’m fine with him as a game manager in a game like today.  Most Eagles fans should be OK with that.  When the Eagles face a team with an inferior run defense, more games should go like today’s did.  I think the reason they haven’t is more coaching than anything.  I just don’t get why some people want to bash that, but I guess it is what it is.

I will bash his frequent turnovers until the cows come home if they start occurring again, but I will be happy if he doesn’t commit those mistakes like these last couple games.  It’s a simple as that.

He has shown that he can be a little bit more than a game manager when needed as well… People forget the Buffalo game last year.  And there are other examples..  I have a feeling we could see that side of him a little bit more often if the offense showed this sort of game more often.  It would put defenses more on their heels.

First win since Brazil I don't feel angry about. Giants weren't really competitive, so hard to draw any conclusions. Nice to see an "easy" win and guys like Nolan Smith play well.

No…he couldn’t.

It wasn’t the incompletions. It’s the same thing it’s always been, the guy can’t read a defense, and doesn’t see wide open players 5-10 yds in front of him.

Wasn't proposing that he could. Just commenting on the weekly exercise of the sky is falling because the Eagles have an average, manage-but-don't lose the game QB. As if each week the expectation is that he is other than this and posters have to hammer home his shortcomings as if they are a surprise. My statement was about this redundancy -- regardless of how he plays, a W or an L, the critique is there because he is an average QB and fans want more. But, it is what it is and he is the QB. If he doesn't lose the game, the offense might be able to do enough to win most games with what looks to be a well above average D. Are there better QBs, yes. Would it be great if the Eagles had one, yes. Can they win with a middle of the pack QB, looks like. If they win with an average QB and it is because of other talent, can the win be enjoyed? IMHO, yes but its a glass half empty or half full kind of thing.

He had what 18 total pass plays, 3 incompletions 4 sacks

2 of those sacks id say he didnt have time to do anything the other 2 throw the ball away or throw the ball

So thats 16 legit pass plays and on those he had 3 incompletions, I mean thats not a lot to complain about simply because it was so few plays

Hurts is never going to be Dan Marino dropping back and throwing for 400 yards a game, hes a college RPO QB running a college RPO offense

Im not sure one can win the big game with that anymore I think Defenses have caught up but Hurts today ran that limited simple college Offense well enough to get a W.

Im not frustrated with hurts as much as the offense thats been built around him.

Or people want the 255M face of the franchise to play better than average? Especially considering the talent he has to work with

Some people set the bar so low

He scored three whole touchdowns though. He's better than Mahomes

Ofc there's "fans" complaining about Hurts after a big win 😆

Mahomes turning the ball over more this year but really Matt Nagy also just sucks as a OC. Not that it matters as it’s Andy’s offense. But Nagy sucks anyway

Don’t be ridiculous. I don’t think anybody is saying that. I think that’s where the disconnect is.  Hyperbole works both ways.

There were people comparing he and Mahomes/Allen in the Hurts thread.

There are absolutely people saying it

But it's Mahomes, he's supposedly so great that it shouldn't matter who's the OC. Hurts doesn't get a break if the playcalling is bad, so neither should Mahomes.

theres literally nothing else to complain about. He was the bad thing about the team's performance today.

Some of us are even encouraged by the direction of the team with the improvement of the defense, and the hopes that coaches noticed that we should become a running team. And yes, even 2 games in a row with no turnovers from the "QB".

Where was that giving mahomes a break? Literally it said mahomes is turning it over more. I mean instead of having an objective how about you read what’s Fing in the beginning of the paragraph

Mahomes is a first ballot Hall of Famer and a multi-SB winning QB.

He's allowed to not play as the best QB in football for a season

There are people saying idiotic things on both sides of this debate. The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

Ridiculous.

Allen has played significantly better than both this year.

Bad teams don't blowout other bad teams by 3+ scores.

We wouldn't be a bad team if we ran our offense like today through the run game with limiting Hurts to 15-20 pass plays. If we keep that game plan we are solid.

Key question is will they keep that plan?

Supposedly? He's only 29 and he's got a list of achievements other QBs couldn't dream of

But you cant ignore reality just hoping that the middle is the right place to be. You can actually face the facts, and look at Hurts' play in a negative light, since he does stink.

Here's the bottom line:

Offense has its best game on a day that Hurts was barely involved.

2+2=4

wtf was that..another bonehead int by purdy

Not gonna excuse Patrick Mahomes because some of his turnovers have been just bad this year and he’s made some uncharacteristic poor decisions.

Then again he’s down Pacheco, rice and Hollywood brown.

4 passes in the entire 2nd half, Im calling it an on field benching.
