It may not be something to brag about, but neither should it be something to criticize when the way game played out didn’t warrant it to be anything more than that.

I was unhappy with Hurts’ performance early this year too… But some just want to keep piling on even after two wins with no turnovers by him in the last two games.

I just want his TD/turnover ratio to continue to be where it’s been these last couple games.  If that happens, the Eagles win a lot of games.

It’s 100% something to criticize about.  He was absolutely terrible for an entire half outside of his make up 4th down play after having one of the biggest brain farts I’ve ever seen the play before.  Going into the second half he started the first drive real strong and then had another brain fart, which led to them not letting him pass the rest of the game.

Hard to tell based off what we saw, but Calc looked like option 1…why IDK you pick the TE in line as the go to, but it looked like a left to right read and then Barkley as the dump off.   Common sense says you look at the D at the snap and you look at Calc’s route top to draw and snap right to Barkley.  There was no defender on that side pre snap.

We dont really do left to right reads with Hurts at QB. We always have half field reads for him. If his head started to the left, Id expect it to go farther left. Not to the right. Also, just looking at where his head is to start, he probably should have seen Barkley. if not Barkley, he probably should have seen that defender in the end zone stumbling and realized immediately that Barkley was going to have room to operate.

Of course, that would be like, real QB processing to see a defender and realize how that is going to affect a play for another player.

Lol whatever you want to believe about his weapons heading into this year

youre really trying with the strawman. But it wasnt about heading in to this year. It was in general- Reid doesnt believe in having a good group of WRs for his QB. Irrefutable. We know this as eagles fans who enjoyed the success and struggled through the stubbornness of Andy Reid, with pathetic WR corps, almost every single year.

on field benching.

Qb1 is a cancer on offense. He's missed 2 layup throws against the giants. Took sacks when he could've just thrown it away. He's so desperate to make the splash play instead of taking what the defense gives him. He sucks. Year 5 and he still hasn't learned

The criticism is not of him, but of those who are hailing today's performance as something to herald.  There's a difference, but not many seem to be able to see the nuance there.   Hurts played like you would want a game manager type QB to play.  Trent Dilfer, Brock Purdy, Rex Grossman...  If he can be carried by all the guys around him, and he doesn't screw it up with bad turnovers, then that can be a winning formula.   BUT, the coaches would have to lean in to that style of offense and he'd have to embrace it and not try to play hero ball.

We criticized Wentz for playing better with far less.

The eagles didn’t have desean, maclin and avant as a wr corps when Reid was here with Vick?

again rice, brown, worthy, hardman and then picking up juju later would be a pretty good wr corps to give your Qb. That has talent and depth. They lost 3 of the 5 to injuries. Add on lost their best rb in Pacheco

in the past, I would agree with you on Andy Reid would do that. I can’t really blame Andy and say he didn’t give him weapons this year when rice, brown and worthy would’ve been a good trio if WRs  except 2 of 3 got hurt. Reid past tends to not give his QBs good enough WR weapons. That’s your argument for why they didn’t get involved with Adams or cooper. However, going into this year I would argue they finally did give mahomes those WRs he needed.  They just got hurt. You want to argue he doesn’t believe in good WRs but then he signed Hollywood brown (didn’t have to) and drafted a kid in the 1st round. Preceded by 2 previous years he drafted 2 WRs in the 2nd round.

He has DPOY potential if he can start catching some of these picks that hit him in the hands.

Don’t be ridiculous. I don’t think anybody is saying that. I think that’s where the disconnect is.  Hyperbole works both ways.

No, it’s crazy to praise a terrible performance because the team stepped up around him and blew out a terrible team.

Add in it looks like Howie nailed the DeJean pick and if Ringo earns the CB2 then wow is this secondary set up long term.

There wasn’t even an RPO called…he was essentially benched on the field.

Davis - Solid starter

Dean - Better than solid starter

Carter - DPOY potential

Smith - Improving into a solid starter, maybe more

Ringo - Backup with potential

Mitchell - DROY candidate

DeJean - Already a solid starter

Howie has replenished this defense in the last 3 years really well.

Hurts was fine.  Completes 71% of his passes with a passing TD - beautiful bomb play - as he’s become brilliant at doing on a consistent basis.  Trent Dilfer could only dream of bomb plays like that.

With an additional 2 rushing TD’s - which added to a "groundbreaking” performance on the ground by the offense.  (Pun intended)

3 total TD’s.

On a day that both the offense and defense dominated - Barkley with another historic day against his former team and the defense was lights out.

And you’re on here - long winded as usual - talking mental gymnastics about how 3 TD’s, 71% completion % with zero turnovers is somehow a "bad thing” for a QB - when the gameplan was obvious to anyone who has been watching football for more than a week - they were going to ground and pound it all game - which is exactly what they did with enormous success.  Just stop.

You’re a well respected guy around here - don’t let your blatant dislike of Hurts tarnish your otherwise good reputation.

I never said it was a 'bad thing'.  I said his performance was nothing to brag about.   Big difference.

I think the standup edge reps should be going to Nolan Smith over Huff.  It’s a dense rotation anyway, so it doesn’t matter a ton.

But I’m starting to see some evolution in Smith’s game.  He bull rushed his way to a sack today.  If he can learn to play the bull rush off his insane pure speed, he still might develop into a legit edge.

Hes small and it gets ugly when he seems to play on roller skates.  But when you find a way to mix a bull rush with elite speed, it’s like a fastball change combo pitcher that throws 100.  Suddenly you’ve got something to work with.

I think that’s a really favorable interpretation.

Everyone gets a boost from playing against two bad offenses and pedestrian qbs in back to back weeks

I'm not big on Dean. He looks good when he can fly down hill, but anything else he looks overmatched.

I love how this guy has grown up. Much respect for him. I wanted him to be brought in as Hurts backup. He would instantly help the culture here. Bigger man in the room than Sirianni that's for sure.

Honestly that was way too over the top, i get what he’s trying to say…but that was cringe worthy.
