I did not see it that way. I think he was looking at the huddle of players to the left of where you think he was looking. Those guys never broke open and he never came off of them. It would have been so easy to keep scanning left, much more quickly than that.

Do you really think Hurts ever looks right in the center of the field?

Whoever the TE was on the left side he stared down, i think and I’m too lazy to go watch it slowed down.  Either way, pre snap it was easy to see Barkley could have been direct snapped the ball and bear crawled in.  When i saw the play live i didn’t realize how quick he bailed the clean pocket and thought that Barkley could have sold blocking to allow him to come to him.

afan has died on hills before, but usually he thinks and supports his argument better. That was like RTK level posting right there. Disappointing.

That and, what was that about no time to throw? Putrid pass blocking?

His chart said he had 3.6 seconds to throw.

Not sure how much more time he needs

I’m not going to rag on hurts but first half there were definitely times in the first quarter he should’ve just thrown the ball away and he held onto it too long. Were also some poor blocking by Fred Johnson early too. It was a mix of both.

I didn't realize we lost after Hurts failed to see Barkley today. I guess we are 3-3, not 4-2.

News flash, doesn't matter if they win games when the process is Fed up. Feel like that would be clear after last season. The QB is making the same mistakes and is showing no signs of changing, it's last season all over again

It’s soooo frustrating. If this team hits their potential they are a legit Super Bowl caliber team.

I remain doubtful of that

Your News flash expired a year ago. It's 2024, not 2023.

If they can continue to gel to together albeit with an easy stretch to the schedule they may actual be that team nobody wants to face in Dec & Jan.

I’m trying to not get my hopes too high considering the past two teams aren’t good. But yeah looking around at the rest of the NFC, they’re capable of beating most of these teams.  Lions & Bucs are the main teams I don’t feel comfortable them going against, just because Lions are great & they have consistently sucked against Tampa. Already beat GB, ATL they barely lost. 49ers are very injured. Cowboys aren’t as good as they used to be. I’m not threatened by Seattle. Washington & Minnesota would be interesting games, not sure how they match up against them but historically they have Minnesota’s number.

Agreed this team doesn't feel at all like 2023's squad especially on defense

I remain doubtful they’ll hit the potential, but the potential is certainly there

The Eagles are an enjoy the ride team now.  Today was a great win if you just get on that boat.

They aren’t SB caliber.  They aren’t winning a SB.  They aren’t going to the SB.  It’ll take significant luck for a deep run.

But they have a lot of stars and just had their first truly fun win in about a year and a half.  So if you just enjoy the ride, it’s not so bad.  Just accept the ride isn’t ending with a parade or anything close to it.  The upside is a division title and a playoff win.

I’m still in wait and see mode on the defense. They did their job against a historically bad browns offense and a bad offense of the giants (eagles last year looked good against rams, tampa bay and dolphins before the big nose dive). I think this next stretch (outside of the jags) of bengals/burrow, Dallas/dak, commanders/daniels, rams/stafford (nacua and kupp healthy) and Baltimore/lamar is going to show us where they truly are.

We are 4-2 (should be 5-1🤬) and only have 3 TOs on defense in 6 games.

I think we are all frustrated because this team should be special and they are just above decent so far.

What’s the 3rd TO? I only remember the two Blankenship picks

Never as bad as it looks, never as good as it looks.

Carter and Mitchell are seriously exciting young players.  Dejean looks to belong in that comment too, except he’s only 2 games in.  Davis & Dean…doing OK, but really unsure what they are or can be.  Ringo, Nolan Smith, Sydney Brown…not much right now, but still have a shot to slot in as the future.  Blankenship has limitations but works as a starter in the right situation.

Throw in Slay/CJGJ/Sweat as the vets.

Put it all together and you get a below average defense right now, but one that might have a very, very bright future.  Or might not. A lot needs to fall into place.

I'm also not trying to get my hopes up as well, but this team just feels different last year it was about how gritty they are which was a joke. This year with the youth of the team in key positions it feels like a growing up phase especially on defense. I believed next year the defense would show their capabilities but right now they're beating my expectations. The young guys are staring to shine (Carter, Mitchell, Dejean, Dean, Smith, Dean and Ringo). The defense's future looks bright especially if Vangio can get Hunt going.

And yet the offense (or just Hurts) is playing exactly the same, if not worse. Keep sticking your head in the sand, you'll be the only one surprised when the bottom falls out again

Or he could've:

- Stepped up in the pocket (when applicable)

- Taken off and run

- Thrown it away

No one playing the position should ever intentionally take multiple sacks in a game and even trying to argue that was the plan is ludicrous

Step up into the pocket? Did you watch the game?

He stayed in the pocket, isn't taking off and running exactly what people have complained about for three years?

You can't throw it away in the pocket. It's called intentional grounding.

Who knows? In two months they could be a significantly different team, given the amount of youth, especially on defense.

On offense, get Mailata and Goedert back and they could start to roll.

We'll see.

Yea that sucks when you have the offense we SHOULD have, but don't because the QB isn't good enough.

You can win a super bowl with a great offense and middling defense. The ride could end with a parade of the QB would get his head out of his ass and play like a $50M QB

I want to see what the Fangio defense looks like against good quarterbacks and good offenses. They did their job against browns and giants. Give them tip of the cap. But i learn more about how guys are improving and if fangio’s scheme will hold up against the better QBs and offenses. The bengals oline isn’t good so the eagles should really be able to get to burrow. But they have legit weapons and burrow seems to be getting healthier off his wrist issue from last year.

It's called enjoying victories. You should try it. A lot of miserable a-holes on here basically missed out on the last SB run because they were so negative.

The thing I like about Dejean…

If someone said he needed to focus on becoming outside CB2 opposite Mitchell, I think he could do it.  If you want to groom him as the slot CB, that would work.

If someone said he had to be the safety of the future, they could coach him into that and he’d be our best option.

And if someone said he had to be a LB (for argument sake), I think you could give him an offseason to gain the weight and he might be our best option as an off ball LB.

Im only half kidding when I say I think he might be the 3rd best WR option on the team.

He just feels like one of those types of players.

It's okay to have your hopes up. This team should be 5-1, and that 1 loss was without 3 of its most important players - Lane, AJ, and Smitty.

This is not the 2023 team, however it's not the 2022 team either.

If that happens, I'll be disappointed. Meanwhile, you'll be disappointed every win until that point.
