Yankees played about as sloppy a bottom of the 10th as you can get.  Have a one-run lead, give up a free pass, have your second baseman boot a rather easy grounder, your left fielder throws a ball from out of play to give both base runners a free 90 feet into scoring position, then toss up a gopher ball to the plate on the first pitch to Freeman.

Extra poor marks for Aaron Boone for trying to lock down a World Series game on the road by using a reliever with one career save and a bottom of the rotation starter who hasn’t pitched in more than a month, risking further injury to do it.

I’d say Boone’s managing flubs will cost the Yankees this series, but Dave Roberts isn’t exactly a genius in his own right.

Makes it worse for Boone is betts is 0-5 vs. Cortes in his career and over the last 2 years Freemans slashes with the bases loaded vs. lhp are

Bad trend for the smoothie-ologist. Do kids still get orange slices at halftime?

😘 That's cute you're thinking of me. I'm not mad about the uncrustables though. They are pretty good.

Im sure you can throw an uncrustable in to a smoothie.

Not sure what is up with the trend of some local teams lately where they just appear to be willing to forego many games in the regular season so they can be healthy for the playoffs, but I don't like it. Didn't work for the Phillies, we'll see if it does for the Sixers.

He’s trying to be funny because he knows he’s on camera. If he only put that much energy into his off season routine, we would be in business.

I totally understand load management for Embiid. It has been tried for a bunch of years already. Its not new. And it hasnt once worked yet to keep him healthy for playoffs. But I would say it has to work in keeping him healthier than he otherwise would be if he tried playing all 82.

Im not mad at him for missing games. I dont really think he is soft- he has played through a lot of injuries. His health struggles have proved that he can not and should not try to play 82 games.

Im more upset with the team for the way they have handled this situation.

1. For pretending everything was ok and suddenly saying hes going to be missing time. How do you come up with a plan, knowing when game 1 is, and miss that target date if everything is fine? They are not being truthful.

2. The team knows he will miss a lot of time each year, and since last year they have looked completely incompetent without him on the court. They had all offseason to prepare for how to play games without Embiid on the court (afterall this is supposedly planned). So why havent they?

The "knee" management "plan" is a farce. There is an injury that they are covering up.

And the basketball management is also lacking. They are unprepared for a scenario that everyone saw coming.

And 3. Its putting a ton of strain on Maxey. He is tired in the 2nd half of games already and shooting horrible percentages trying to force shots since there is no flow to the offense and he is trying to carry the load all on his own.

You can’t butterfly effect this. The walkoff happened because of that dude. Careful, he’s a hero.

Uncrustables are an amazing thing.   You take one of the simplest, cheapest lunches around for children to eat, bloat it full of marketing and extra preservatives... and sell it for a premium price.   Genius.

Imagine this:  $9 for 10 uncrustables - roughly 1/2 to 2/3 of an actual PB&J sandwich.

Or you can buy:

With "Premium" ingredients:
Wonder White bread (1 loaf for $3.50),
Jif Natural Peanut butter (16 oz for $3.50)
Smuckers Grape jelly (squeezeable 20 oz for $3.50)

That's $10.50 for about twice as many full sandwiches... and if you buy the peanut butter and jelly in bigger jars, the price drops even more.

Or for the budget conscious:
Store brand White bread ($1.50 a loaf)
Store brand Peanut Butter (16 oz $2.50)
Store brand Grape Jelly (18 oz $2.50)

That's more than twice as many full sandwiches for $7, and again buy bigger jars and you can make these sandwiches for half the price.

The load management seems extreme. It's not just limiting his minute or missing back to backs. They seem to be willing to just let him take off random stretches of games and "oh well" with the regular season.

And wear and tear hasn't even been his biggest issue, most of his injuries have been acute. Where he lands on a dunk, his knee buckles, and he tears a meniscus. Dude could play 30 games in a season, dunk the ball, and hurt his knee and none of this load management will have mattered. We've seen this when he's gotten hurt in the playoffs. They act like they just need to get him there healthy, but that's not true. They did before and he got hurt while in the playoffs.

Thats because it is a cover up. He is injured.

There is no way someone they pay, planned this. That person should be fired.

They knew the dates of last season ending. The olympics. Pre-season. And opening night.

With all of those knowns, how do you 1. schedule a "planned" knee evaluation for game 1 of pre-season, and then make him miss an entire road trip (before ever announcing any of this was planned). And then 2. Make him miss game 1 of the regular season. Even after Paul George got injured, and Embiid is supposedly healthy. You cant throw him out there to give the fans a competitive product on opening night. Against the Bucks. In a season with so much hype after the PG8 move? And now his absence is of some undetermined length. I thought this was planned. Why dont they know when he will be ready?

Its all lies.

Agreed.  They're going to get fined.  And it's bad look with all the hype.  Embiid fell like a rock in my fantasy draft and now we know why.

I believe he is too. Kind of. The Sixers have been a mess as an organization, but I think even they would be able to time out his ramping up process so it would coincide with the regular season starting. But they did say "he's not injured" I believe or they said "He didn't get hurt" and I don't think they can lie about that for betting reasons, so my guess is his knee is not responding well to the increased workload he started to get ready for the season, and it's not some new injury. Maybe it started swelling up on him and they've been trying to get the inflammation down. And they don't want to admit that 9 months removed from the surgery, the knee is still acting up, because everyone would start freaking out.

Whatever it is, I hope it's not something like since they removed the meniscus from his knee by trimming it, it's just Fed now in there and is bone on bone.

We don't know a lot for certain about what is going on with Embiid, but here's one thing we do know: since he's gotten that surgery we've seen him play in two separate capacities(playoffs and olympics) and both times he's looked significantly gimpy.

Youre probably on to it. I hated the decision to to the menisectomy just to be available in time for the olympics rather than the proper choice for long term health, availability for the 6ers, and quality of life. That was really Fing stupid.

I didn't like it either. I heard some people say they didn't know if Embiid was a candidate for the full repair based on his specific injury, but no Sixers officials or reporters ever said one way or another if it was. Regardless, even if it was an option, he wouldn't have gotten it. He wanted to rush back for the playoffs and the olympics. Everything this organization does is wrong.
