January 18Jan 18 Nice to get a couple of away wins. Don't think they'll end up making the playoffs but at least they haven't just thrown in the towel yet.

They are trending in the right direction. Playoffs aren’t out of the question. It probably will boil down to whether Ersson can stay healthy.
January 31Jan 31 I sure hope there’s not a world where Tortorella is the head coach again next season

Probably another 2nd is the best they could do. But in the end, what’s the point of this trade? Are they actually planning to tank the rest of the season?

The organization really needs a new direction. I'm fine with Briere so far, but I'm really worried the Flyers will promote Tortorella instead of firing him.

I’m guessing we are going all in on trying to be bad for the rest of the year even if torts tries to will them not to be. Frankly I’m fine with it if they are just going to be bad and completely bottom out. Just means better clear cap for future years and hit on draft picks

February 1Feb 1 It's a good trade simply because they cleared cap space. Neither one of those guys were gonna be useful in the future. I still say that this team is looking at the 2029-2030 season to be a stanley cup contender and that's if everything goes their way. Charlie o Connor for some reason is more optimistic. Too bad they can't dump Coots. Even if he waived his NTC, there isn't anyone looking to trade for an over the hill, overpaid, injury prone bum. Thanks Chuck. On a side note, I can't wait until they don't have to pay that turd Ryan Ellis anymore. 2 more years unfortunately.

March 7Mar 7 There is talk about Laughton and Ristolinen moving as there is lots of interest from the league in these players. Let’s see if the dope Flyers and Briere make a move. Not holding out hope.

I don’t have faith in the transparency of the NHL lottery, however, so it remains to be seen what position they’ll draft in. My preference at this point would be somehow get Michael Misa to pair with Michkov. Above all — get rid of Tortorella; his shelf life has expired.

March 27Mar 27 Torts did say he had no interest in coaching this rebuild so Danny said, sure, no problem. Lol.

He’s been riding what he did early in his career and has bar value. Frankly, he’s supposed to set the culture in the rebuild, but he just alienated a whole bunch of players. Imo I think he wanted to get fired and paid, but he also realized the Flyers org stopped listening to what he wanted them to do. i don’t know how briere’s tenure goes but the Flyers needed to bottom out for years now. I said this back in 2019 that they should trade away Giroux and maximize his value as he was still in his prime. Because they weren’t winning anything with what they built around him. But they kept trying to win at the same time as a rebuild. They needed to just completely bottom out. And they just refuse to for years.

Tortorella wasn't the right coaching hire. He didn't have the right system for the personnel and definitely didn't have the right temperament. His old age has toned him down a little bit, but his abrasive personality is still very tough on younger players. The Flyers have been really terrible defensively under both Tortorella and Vigneault; the modern NHL is less about talent and more about systems. Have to be able to keep the puck out of the net before anything else. Their special teams (PP/PK) have also been lousy the past few years. The next head coach needs to have a strong track record in defensive systems and special teams.
