November 6, 2025Nov 6 What's up with Michkov? He is super slow and seems to be a cherry picking on offense. He came into the season out of shape. Is this another Joel Embiid where the guy has all the talent in the world but no work ethic or drive? I hope not, I am tired of those. He needs to work on his conditioning first and then become a much better skater because he is way too slow for today's nhl.

He did some things down in Dubai and got in a car wreck and messed up his ankle. He didn’t take his offseason as serious as he should have and had a major setback and whatever else he did cost him being out of shape. He’s learning the hard way but this is on him he doesn’t get a free pass
November 9, 2025Nov 9 So far, 8-5-2 is a marked improvement over where they’ve been under Tortorella. PP is 16th, PK is 5th. Zegras has been as advertised. Goaltending has been much improved with Vladar; Ersson has still stunk overall. We’ll see how they look by the halfway point.

Other than that bs have a great time, there’s nothing like watching hockey in the person
December 10, 2025Dec 10 Flyers are still hanging in there at 16-9-3. Special Teams have dipped a bit -- PP is 21st overall and PK 11th. Zegras and Vladar are still leading the way. If they can compete for a wildcard spot this season I'd say they are "on schedule".

While I am happy the team is more watchable, I don’t see the trajectory of this team seriously competing for anything until those holes are filled.
December 15, 2025Dec 15 If Michkov was playing in the 90's, he would be fine. For today's game, he is a turtle out there. How is he so slow still? He was "faster" last year but still really slow. That should be his main focus this off season, conditioning and skating. He is only a power play specialist without speed. He is always cherry-picking ahead to try to get a fast break opportunity and then doesn't bother to hustle back on defense when they play goes the other way. I can understand why Toch isn't giving him many minutes. He is a turnover and cherry-picking machine at the moment.

December 17, 2025Dec 17 If you told me the Flyers would be 8th in the NHL in goals against after 32 games I’d have laughed. Still sitting in a wildcard spot but lots of season left, including a ridiculously long layoff for the Olympics. Who knows who will carry any momentum out of that length of inaction.PP and goal scoring are still subpar.

Goes to show what a commitment to keeping the puck out of your net does for your fortunes; Trevor Zegras is the only offensive change of note from last season, while Dan Vladar has been a vast improvement in net. The biggest change is the system change from Tortorella to Tocchet, and the accompanying change in culture. The Philly media is trying to drive a wedge between Michkov and the organization, purely to create drama, but so far Tocchet and Brière haven’t taken the bait.
Yesterday at 02:00 AM1 day Same old Flyers. Why not give a soon to be 30 year old journeymen a fat 5 year contract extension with a NMC? What could go wrong? Danny got bent over tremendously.

Danny got bent over tremendously.Yep, dumb. Briere contradicted himself with this signing. He's said many times that he doesn't like giving out long term contracts to players that hit age 30. This is also a career year for him. I'm assuming that since there is such a dearth of centerman in their pipeline that they felt they needed to do this. They must also not feel comfortable with how Luchanko is developing. If they felt that he would be up soon, I'm thinking they wouldn't have re-signed Dvorak. That Luchanko pick may come back to haunt them. It's possible Dvorak could have continued to perform and at the trade deadline they could have gotten a nice package for him to collect more assets.
