Damn, JVR had the 5 hole open if he got off a quick shot.  Good to see them crashing the net and winning some battles.  Hopefully this wasn't their 1 good period of play and they'll keep this momentum going for the 3rd.  

 

Great period. Now the key is to see if they can sustain pressure for another period... seems like every game they give us one solid period of play and that’s it.

Holy ish!  Flyers outshot them 17-3 in the 2nd period?  And yet, with all that domination they left the period the same way they entered it, tied.

That post Pitlick hit is hurting right now. He had room to get it in if it’s another inch to the inside. Also really could/should have come away with one in that scramble late in the period.

If he didn’t get hung up, that was a goal.  That’s one spot where he usually gets it done.

I am not very knowledgeable with hockey.  Never played the game.  Always enjoyed watching the Flyers though, although I took a hiatus for several years while working >100 hrs per week and only had the time to follow 1 sport, 1 team.  This team looks like it has a really nice even distribution of young talent across the roster, making for some nice depth, especially on D, with a young goalie with all the potential in the world.  

I see 2 problems...1: they are still learning to be a winner.  This will improve with time, but right now, they have the look of a team that is happy with how far they've come here in 2020.  2...they really lack high end forward talent.  With respect to Giroux, Voracek, Couturier, and what Konecny may become, they don't seem to have those 1-2 studs that elite teams lean on to generate consistent scoring chances in huge games.

With those strengths and limitations, they remind me a bit of those 90's Devils teams that absolutely tortured the Flyers.  I hope this group can have half that success.

Lack of penalty calls in this series has been pretty amazing. Just 4 called tonight but really 2 were called at the same time for 4 on 4
