We don't have a broad, largely facts based media environment. We have the largest most effective propaganda machine in the history of the world that exists solely to serve the Republican Party and then we have a decentralized sporadic media environment that serves every other niche out there. That's it. There's no shared reality. So anything you do as a political party better pierce that propaganda bubble in the right way and it better serve the sporadic media environments well too. And some weak willed fair game negotiation with people who want to transform the country into an autocratic sheet hole ain't it because the propaganda machine will spin it however they want and to everyone else it'll just look pathetic.

Republicans, while in the minority, do everything they can to compound any problems to make the admin look worse and do whatever they have to do to stop the admin's agenda, knowing full well that any pain that's put on the American people falls squarely on the ruling party. That's it. That's the whole philosophy. You can achieve that philosophy with moderate ideological positions or with more leftist ideological positions because those tactics have nothing to do with ideology.I'm not even very far left.
