Let's be very clear about what is happening here.

When Trump came in, he targeted various law firms who had been engaged by the government to investigate Trump's various misdeeds. Many of these later struck deals to give pro-bono work to lift the targeting: Trump withdraws order targeting Paul Weiss, says law firm promised free legal work

Trump is actually weaponizing the government against political opponents, all because he was rightly investigated by the Biden administration - albeit very lazily under Garland who was far more feckless and impotent than he should have been in the face of crimes Trump quite obviously committed - and now using that leverage to cow high powered law firms into providing free legal defense for officers against extrajudicial crimes they may commit operating at his behest.

This is some incredible corruption happening in plain sight. All the MAGA twerps in my area flying Gadsden flags should be livid.

But they won't be, because they are the very boot-lickers that they claim to despise.
