You can’t absolutely get healthcare costs under control by taking out all the political lobbying and BS that gets rolled into the for profit business model. Politicians take payouts from drug companies, insurance companies, food, booze, tobacco, all of which is to buy favors. They make policies and rules (not laws per se) which ultimately end up with higher health care costs. I don’t want my government to by, by law, in direct control of my actual health for obvious reasons, but they are already in control in a lot of ways. You don’t think drugs cost what they cost simply because the cost to make it and distribute is that high do you? The simple way to affordable and quality care is to take the government lobbying out of it. DTC drugs and coverages. It’s going to happen soon. Some drug companies are going be offering GLP-1 direct to employees and cutting out 3rd parties and complicated rebate programs. Win win for them and their users. More profit for them and they can lower prices because they don’t have to pay the govt for their red tape policies.
