Its kind of impossible to talk about this record being broken and still try to call the game meaningless. On the other hand you are scared of injury before the super bowl, but you know Kirby Joseph lurks in the future, before the super bowl.

It just doesnt add up logically.  Combined with the continuous use of the false dilemma falacy people keep using by saying they can go for the rushing record OR the super bowl, it just continues to prove that the foundation for the side of the argument you are on is built on flawed logic.

It's not like Barkley can just play to get it. The entire starting 11 needs to play. It's a long season they need a break for the run. It's not rocket surgery. It's not playing scared. It's not the record or the super bowl. It's a better fighting chance.

I brought this up a few years ago as I think rewarding teams for hiring minorities is plain silly. However, IF they want to reward teams, they should give something to the team that gives them a first job or a chance. Like you said, the Eagles and Jeff Lurie have been front and center at giving minorities front office positions. If the Eagles aren't opening the door, are they getting those opportunities with other teams?

how do you quantify that? You cant. If you could, what kind of number do you actually think it is? What %age increase do you really think it gives for our chances of winning the superbowl?

And then, lets say- what if they starters got to rest in the 2nd half instead of the whole game. What is the number then?

Right now, youre just saying words and making assumptions that really mean nothing but sound good to you. Rushing record and super bowl sounds best to me.

Again, let me spell this out for you and anyone else who agree with this decision. Resting guys helps, but it doesn't guarantee crap for the playoffs and the run the Eagles will or will not go on. Saquon is a hundred yards away from breaking the all time rushing record that has stood for 40 years and based on his season average, the Giants run defense, and what Saquon did against them earlier in the year it is almost a lock that he would have broken the record had they played the starters on offense. But hey, let's not go for something historical because Sirianni and fans like you are scared little biatches 🙄

PROBABILITY of a Super Bowl win vs. the PROBABILITY of the rushing record.  

You also need to consider 

VALUE of a Super Bowl win vs. the VALUE of the rushing record.

In addition, the incremental variance in all four of those values needs to be considered.

Of course, we don’t/can’t know any of those values, much less those incremental variances.

You know one MAJOR story that will be missing from this season? Barkley breaking the rushing record. Damn shame.

 

Have you forgotten that the Eagles played their scrubs in the season finale that year? I guess it would have been smarter to have guys like Lane Johnson, Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery (and about a dozen other key guys) playing in that game and risking an injury that could have derailed everything.
