I guess one feature of the back-up bowl is that we get see both Ringo and Rodgers for extended snaps. Does the Slay contract indicate that he’ll be here next year or no?

Slay's contract all but guarantees he is a post June 1 cut unless he renegotiates down his 2025 option bonus of $16.1 million, which is not guaranteed. A post June 1 release would save us $4.3mm in 2025 cap space ($9.45mm dead money hit) with another $13.3mm dead money hit in 2023. If you let him play it out, he'd get $16.1mm in cash and be on the books for $13.8mm next year and $13.3mm in dead money in 2026.

I just don't see any way they pay him $16mm for 2025.

I'm excited to see all the young CBs, including Eli Ricks. I still think he brings value in some capacity.

Yup - I like to see Ricks play outside, he got pressed into the slot last year but I think he’s built all wrong for that.

I want to see Ringo and Ricks playing outside CB all game. Use Maddox in the slot. I'd rather not play Rodgers if we can avoid it -- Slay is going to miss snaps in the playoffs most likely.

Brown and McCollum at safety all game.

Entire starting defense should have the day off

Bryce Huff better finish the game with 4 sacks

Business decision. I’d rather see the money go to Jurgens, Baun, and either Sweat or Milton this offseason. I feel like the fall off of play from Becton to Steen won’t be that crazy.

I have a few reasons for wanting to keep Becton. 1. He’s better. 2. Lane has one more year (jmo) and Becton can definitely play RT. 3. See 1. He’s a lot better. 4. I like Steen as the swing OL a lot.

I understand your rationale. I just think the delta of Becton over Steen is greater than you think plus, Howie will figure something out.🙏

Nabers is no slouch, so he’ll be a handful (unless he’s taking the day off too).

I posted this before, but the defense should be:

DT: Ojomo, Booker and elevate Gabe Hall. Davis, Carter and Williams sit down

Edge: Huff, Hunt and elevate Harris. Nolan and Sweat sit.

LB: Burks and Trotter go all game, Dean and Baun sit

Outside CB: Ringo and Ricks

Slot CB: Maddox

Safety: McCollum and Brown

Good challenge/experience for the young guys. It doesn't matter if we lose by 30.

Trust me I’d like to keep Becton, but it sort of feels like when we lost Seumalo a couple years ago. I just think there’s players that are higher priority to bring back. I have thought about the idea of Becton potentially trying out at RT to replace Lane one day, have wondered the same about Steen. Agreed though, Howie’s got it under control.

Cam Jurgens going to the Pro Bowl in his first year as a starting center.

Kelce didn't go until his fourth.

Keep picking OL on day two and let Stout turn them into stars.

The only reason I would care at all is if he has a contract incentive for making the Pro Bowl. Otherwise 🥱.

Well, he might see it is an accomplishment that he wants to achieve at some point.  I would have rather seen him get it then Lane this year.

There is a scenario where Howie never had any real money in his budget for linebackers.  To sign Baun he'd need to find the money elsewhere.  So going forward with Steen and Fred Johnson rather than Becton allows them to find money for Baun.

Other things to consider…

Dean is coming on, but Trot Jr. is really similar as a prospect. Might be some tough decisions down the road, especially if Baun gets the bag.

With Booker and Ojomo ascending, can Howie move off Milton a la Javon Hargrave?

Sirianni knew and talked about it on the sidelines with Barkley.   I was against taking him out at that time, because there was no way to know that he'd go on to break both later against the Rams.

I don't think so.  I think he only talked to him about his personal high,  not the franchise record. I cloths l could be wrong but I'm pretty positive.  There is video but I can't look it up right now.

I’m pretty sure he’ll be disappointed with that. His performances this year deserved more.

The Pro Bowl is a momentum accolade.

Takes you a couple years of deserving to get there and then you stay a couple beyond deserving before you go.

I get why McMahon signed with the Rams, but at the same time there is Stout and then every other OL coach. If he wanted a long NFL career spending a year or two under the coach that turned a guy with similar skills into a HOF would have been good for him. He is making more money and on a good team, though.

Mitchell, DeJean and Ringo on rookie deals opens up a ton of money reallocation to pay Baun. I think going forward with Steen and Johnson over Becton opens the door to Jurgens extension

I get the sentiment there but I’m not sure Ringo is going to be a full time starter in the league? Perhaps a solid back up. And Steen hasn’t shown as much as Becton so that’s a really hard decision to make.

They can re-sign anyone they need to re-sign. The question is, will they think the guys are worth the money they project them to get. I think Becton probably stays because he resurrected his career and I don't think he's going to want to leave Stoutland University. Baun I think stays. Williams and Sweat, who knows. I think Sweat might be least likely to stay because they almost got rid of him last offseason. I could actually see them keeping Williams and letting Jordan Davis go when he's up to be signed.

Then give a short term deal to Rodgers. Point is half the D is young and on rookie or dirt cheap deals. It's a lot easier to find money for Baun then it is Becton.

With Becton for me, it boils down to you are paying 3 out of the 5 OL at top of the market deals. Jurgens will undoubtedly be the 4th, probably this offseason. You can't pay every guy on the OL, especially when you take into account the QB, WR1 at $30M+, WR2 at $25M+ as well as Barkley and Goedert who are also up there for their respective positions. Plus you have the x-factor in Stoutland. He can either coach Steen up, find a new project or work his magic on a Keegan or a new draft pick. It might be a step down from Becton, but he's a luxury that's hard to afford. If he's willing to sign for dirt cheap that changes things obviously.

Bring back Steichen.

Not sure Slay has made it through a full game in a very long time.  He usually returns, but he misses series a lot and certainly will in the playoffs.  No offense to Slay, but it happens at that age.  Rodgers is important in that respect.

Sweat is a weird one to project. On the surface, you'd think he's gone because the Eagles shopped him, made him take a pay cut and he'll be one of the best EDGE FA's in 2025 that's still reasonably young.

But, with how much of a disaster Huff has been and with Graham's future up in the air, I have to wonder if Howie gives him a "sorry" deal and extends him for 2-3 years.
