Hurts still not practicing today. Still don't think it's cause for alarm until next week. Sirianni today said he was "progressing through the protocol" when yesterday he just said "he's still in the protocol"

Nah, he's a head case. He can stay in Dallas and regress under their frustration.

Different kind. He's whiny, complains on podcasts, stuff like that. Maybe being under Eagles leadership and veterans will help him. But he'll also want a boatload of money and I don't think Howie does that (especially after signing Baun, hopefully)

Who cares what he does on podcasts. Slay and his wife were clowns on social media last year.

He is an elite DE and you could see the difference he made for the Cowboys defense when he got back on the field.

Saquon is definitely playing out his contract here barring an Achilles/Lisfranc type injury.

In fact, I'd bet there's a better chance he's extended than dropped after 2 years. As quickly as this off-season even.

Long term at RB, he's backed up what I've talked about for years - actual RB sized RBs are important. No more Mile Sanders/D'Andre Swift types getting brought down by arm tackles. Those guys make Kenny Gainwell look like Earl Campbell.

Wouldn't shock me to see a Saquon extension this off-season too.

I'd like like a more physical RB on the roster for 3rd and shorts to keep him fresh.

I'd say there's almost zero chance they extend him after this season. RBs are still subject to fall off a cliff at any time -- see Christian McCafferty this year. He has a fully guaranteed $11.75mm in cash coming to him next year ($1.92mm base and $9.83mm option bonus) but a cap number of only $6.311mm. The decision time on Barkley will be after next year -- he has a $1mm roster bonus due on the 3rd day of the 2026 league year, and a $10.7mm option bonus; his total cash in 2026 is $14mm ($2.05mm salary, $1mm roster, $250k workout, $10.7mm option); only $1.5mm of it is guaranteed. If he plays well again next year, then maybe you guarantee more of 2026, or do a short extension and add void years.

But no way do you extend him after one year of a 3 year deal.

If the season ends with this as the playoff picture:

Best case there, We beat the Packers, the Rams beat the Redskins and the Vikings beat the Bucs.

That puts the Rams coming to the Linc for the divisional round and the Vikings going to Detroit. The Vikings could definitely beat the Lions and presuming we beat the Packers, the NFCCG is in Philly.

If Washington beats the Rams, then they go to Detroit and we get the Vikings (or Bucs if they upset).

If this is the scenario:

image.png

We beat Washington, I think the Packers beat the Rams and the Vikings beat the Bucs. Packers go to Detroit and the Vikings come to the Linc.

If the Vikings win this weekend, they're the #1 seed:

image.png

We beat the Packers, the Rams beat the Redskins and the Lions (most likely) beat the Bucs.

That sends the Lions to Minnesota and the Rams to Philly. If the Redskins beat the Rams, then they go to Minnesota and the Lions would come to Philly.

If Dallass were to win this weekend:

image.png

We beat the Redskins, the Packers beat the Rams and the Lions beat the Bucs. So the Packers go to Minnesota and the Lions come to the Linc. If the Rams win, then they come to Philly.  Of course, I didn't factor in a Bucs win so if that were to happen, that would alter things a bit.

I think I've worked all that out correctly, if not, correct me.

Of course, any playoff team can beat any other playoff team. But of those teams, I think the Vikings would be the toughest to face.

Saquon's agent is going to ask for a new deal/extension.

See this is a little bit concerning… That he’s going to have missed 2 full weeks of practice and not been seen in the building much is a worry.

I doubt it, and if he does, he'll be told no. No one gets a new deal after 1 year of a 3 year contract. Reddick had a great 2022 and didn't get anything.

According to McKee, he has been in meetings. People are really overreacting to him not practicing before what is effectively preseason game. There's no reason to push him through the protocol as he wouldn't practice either way (Barkley, AJ and Smitty didn't practice yesterday, and 14 other starters were limited).

Unless and until he misses practice next Wednesday, it's a complete non-story.

He's been in the building and around teammates FWIW.

I have to wonder if Irsay fires Steichen. Maybe Ballard is more likely to go, but I'd have to think Shane signed off on Richardson. If Kellen were to get a HC job, it would be awesome if Shane were available to come back as OC.

All true, but remember … Howie protects against injury loss by buying insurance on key players.

Okay I missed that then as I kept seeing (albeit via X) that he wasn’t there so was thinking he’s not around.

Agreed in terms of a "proper" extension. Added to your point, Saquon could easily add 80-90 touches this postseason, making it 450+ on the year. That's prime "fall off is coming" territory.

I still fully expect some kind of contract adjustment, a typical restructure at least but more likely restructure + new money. I don't think it's reasonable to expect the reigning OPOY (and maybe even SB MVP, who knows) to make "Darnell Mooney money."

Eagles lead the all time series vs. Giants

95-89-2

I already despised the idea of not going for the record and resting our starters. But we need to give Tanner all the reps we can with the starters before the wildcard game

The earliest Hurts will practice is next week, if he practices. So we're either facing a Commanders or Packers team with a QB who hasn't touched the field in nearly a month, or a 3rd string QB who hasn't played a full game in the NFL.

I hate everything about both those options, and I know they'll be used as excuses for another failed season under Siri.

Panicking is what we do

It's over - Hurts hates Nick.

It's over -  AJ and Hurts hate each other.

It's over -  Saquon is upset that Nick won't let him go for the record.

It's over - Hurts isn't practicing.

I get that people are nervous after last year, but we seriously need to stop overreacting to every damn thing. Last year was last year.

Add me to the list that doesn't want to give Barkley a new contract/extension
