EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

What mcvay did reminds me of what he did in 2017 season when he rested players in week 17. To a lot of people it looked like he was ok being lowest seeded divisional winner so the rams could draw the eagles in divisional round. But the ended up losing to atlanta.

I think that decision is going to bite him. There’s a huge difference between facing Washington and facing Minnesota. And I say that as someone who has said all year I’m not fully convinced by Minnesota but I think that’s a tougher match up.

What drives me nuts about the last few weeks of the season is all of the talk about losing on purpose to get a higher draft pick. Any team who does this will continue to have high draft picks year in and year out because they clearly do not have a winning culture.

Culture wins championships, not draft picks.

Worked for us when Pederson did it

So our path to the Bowl could be:

Vs Packers

Vs Bucs

@ Lions

Or

Vs Packers

Vs Vikings

@ Lions

 Or

Vs Packers

Vs Vikings

Vs Washington

Or

Vs Packers

Vs Bucs

Vs Vikings

or

Take your pick.  The Good news, if the Lions lose the Divitional, the NFC Title Game would be in Philly.

I remember some fans getting really upset at Doug for tanking that game.

He forgot the most important part.

That happens WITH Howie Roseman as the GM.

He would need to find dozens of other examples, with various GM’s, to make his point even debatable, imo.

Hurts can't be a POS in the playoffs like normal or the 2nd round will be it. Detroit might make him look like SD tonight if they do squeak by the Pack and Bucs.

This is why Barkley needed to rest.  He’s going to need 35 carries for 275 yards in that game.

That's right man, we're about to start the post season as the 2 seed after going 14-3, what better time to start ragging QB1 again.

I think Packers —> Bucs —> Lions is overwhelmingly the likely path.

Thought Hurts looked really good when he was possibly the best player on the field in the Super Bowl. He needs to avoid leaving plays on the field though. Take advantage of his skill players ability to get open etc

I think the Eagles are the best team in the NFC. That doesn’t mean they will win but, they should welcome all comers. Would obviously rather play Detroit in Philly though if they had to meet up.

Agree. Though I think the gap between the Eagles and Vikings/Rams is bigger than the gap between the Lions and Vikings/Rams.

Don't really care about which teams, just want someone to knock out DET so Philly can host the NFCCG. There's no more excitement than a championship game there.

The Eagles team that took the field vs the Commanders was the best team in the NFL at that moment in time. Too bad Hurts got dinged.

They still answered the bell in a major way vs. Dallas and the only question left to ask is if Hurts can pick up where he left off or if there will be another slow start.

But I think they're going to beat the Packers handily.

Last one is probably the easiest, even though there's really no "easy" in the playoffs, especially when you have to play in the wildcard round.

I could easily see the Skins knocking off Tampa

What is Hurts' status?  Was just said on TV that he a question mark.

Won’t know until Wednesday. Can’t possibly see how he is a question mark though. He’s had ample time to recover from a concussion.

Agree.  Perked my ears up when I heard that.

He's never had this many carries over the course of a season.  Probably the most dangerous rb in the NFL besides Barkley

I even recall a few people in the blog calling him a bust after just 3 games into his rookie season, lol.

Real question is how did Acho become such a prominent figure.

I just feel dc is so overrated and has been lucky all year.  Even with Hurts immediately out after the 1st series, it took a series of 10 unimaginable events for them to win the game.

Thats why I’d be happy to match up with them in the playoffs.

A  lot of people feel the Eagles and Lions have been on a collusion course all season.   But crazy things happen in the playoffs.  They could lose the Divisional which could set up a Vikings NFC Championship in Philly again.   As for the Bucs, this time AJ and all our weapons are here.  Our only win against them was in Philly last year.  Defense is playing much better than the 1st match up back in week 4.   Packers are 1st up and they are a good team but we are playing much better right now.  I think the Packers game will go like the last one with but them scoring less with our Defense holding them to low points and us putting up big numbers (35 to 40)

That win against the Bucs was in Tampa.
