I am not sure Fangio would have used Van Ginkel the way Flores is using him now.

Jonanthan Grennard has been terrific for the Vikings.  Something like 13 sacks.  He would look a heck of a lot better than Huff but he may have overpriced himself for the Eagles.  Far as I can tell he received $42M guaranteed compared to Huff at $34M.

Huff is very limited.

(1) can only rush the passer

(2) he is far more explosive coming out of a three point stance compared to standing up and rushing.

(3) he is much better from the defensive left side than right side.

So, very very limited and you don't want him dropping in coverage.

At this point the jig is up, and Vic knows that he has to follow your bullet points to get any value - so Huff might look better moving forward than he did the 1st half of the season.

Ringo is actually in an odd way similar to DeJean.

Both of their knocks coming out of college were tight hips. Both are good tacklers. Both are extremely athletic and known as big game play makers. Both were looked at by some people as possible safety prospects because of the tight hips.

Ringo is bigger, longer, and faster. DeJean is more of a smooth athlete and more explosive in short areas. They are kind of mirror players with Ringo being a boundary tweener and DeJean being a nickel tweener.

Pretty much agree.  Ringo is faster, DeJean is quicker. Anyone that has played a DB position knows what I mean. Ringo is getting a handle on how to be physical in the NFL.

I am really liking what I am seeing out of Parker, Anderson and Kasper.  I wonder if Kasper is a key.  The communication between the back seven is as good as I have seen it.  I think a significant part of that is Blankenship and suspect he has had a positive influence on CJGJ’s tendency to drop the coverage to play the ball. But last week, the communication didn’t seem to falter with the backups.

Just re-watched the first Packer game on the All-22. The most obvious thing was the dreadful field they played on. Everybody was sliding around. Elliott ended up on his ass after kicking an extra point. (He made it.) The second thing was how porous our secondary was. The third thing was three bad turnovers - two INTs and a premature snap. The fourth was a series of bad run fits by our LBs and safeties, most notably by Dean.

A better field will help both teams. I expect major improvement on items two through four. Why? Because I've seen it.

Four D-Linemen
Two LBs
Two Safeties
Two Boundary CBs

That only gets you to 10 players.  Who would be the 11th if it isn’t DeJean?

Eagles really don’t play four DL.  (With Graham on IR, they have one DE on the roster, Huff.  They play a 5/2 which is really a 3/4 just depends if it is a heavy line or a light one.  Arguably, they play some 2/4/5, two DTs, 2 OLBs, two ILBs and 5 DBs.

Ringo is progressively getting better at playing the receiver, but his biggest issue is that he needs to start playing the ball. He’s liable to draw flags and miss out on PBUs/INT opportunities until he starts getting his head around.

I still don't know how good he is as a coach. My gut tells me he's the product of a great roster and good coordinators. I don't think this team would be any different this season if Mike Vrabel was the coach. We'll see.

As an aside, I'll get a jump on one of my 2025 predictions now: if the Lions lose Johnson and Glenn, they'll be noticeably worse next season. So I think the same applies to Dan Campbell too. I'm not sure how responsible he is for that team's success either.

That's likely where's ending up. They just left that part off the tweet.

So AB's whole persona now is just be an edgelord and start twitter fights with literally everyone over absolutely nothing.

What a waste of life and incredible talent.

Siri is likely great 6 days/week, but I’m not seeing it on Sundays (which might be overrated, but still very concerning to me).

Keeping Callahan and firing Carthon is the kind of move that subjects us to perpetual ESPN racism lectures and think pieces. One of the dumbest decisions I’ve seen in a league that makes obviously dumb decisions often.

That applies to absolutely everybody.

The Patriots won their 3rd Super Bowl in 4 years in 2004.  Weis and Crennel left after the season and Bill Belichick went 10-6 in 2005.

Reddick proved that he was willing to go to the extreme with his contract situation, so I can’t say Howie handled that situation incorrectly. VanG got a 2yr/$20M deal, who knows what Hasson wanted long term (he was in the mid-teens with his existing contract iirc).

I just think Howie wasn't going to sign a 29 year old player like Van Ginkel over keeping Reddick.

He comes off as emotionally reactive and out of control at times. Not a good look BUT the team changed its game strategy after the first 4 games. I give a HC a lot of credit for doing that--the willingness to do that. They are also very successful under Sirianni. At what point does it become odd not to give the guy in charge credit for the success of the team?

What does "outta pocket" mean?  Is that like the person is morally bankrupt, or a football-related analogy for a player 'going off script'?

Belichick clearly explains why very good coordinators often fail at head coaching.  Game planning is far down on the list of responsibilities and whole bunch of Monday-Saturday work takes its place.

I remember when John Harbaugh was talked about as a future head coach while he was the ST coordinator with the Eagles.  It obviously wasn't because of his kick coverage schemes.  It was because he was demonstrating the leadership skills that are harder to come by.
