Jimmy's and Joe's win games.

The Lions have a good roster, but not "4th best offense of all-time" good. We'll get to see that play out next year when some other team gives Johnson a bag.

When do practice reports usually come out?

Every playcall the Eagles make that doesn't work is a Sirianni play.

On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Charlie Weiss isn't even remotely comparable to Ben Johnson.

You understand the Lions is Johnson's first ever coordinator job, right?  Let's not pretend he's revolutionizing football here.  He's a hot name, but no one knows yet if he's even qualified to be anything more than what he currently is.

Oh... I thought they were calling for Adrian Peterson.

Watch more of the Lions games and then get back to me with that comparison. He's far more than a "hot name".

They don't practice until 2:30 tomorrow. Reports usually comes out as late as they possibly can. So 4:30 - 5:00 ish would be my guess.

What are you even arguing about??  I made a factual statement that Weis left the Patriots after 2004, where he'd been the OC for 5 seasons and they won 3 Super Bowls in that tenure.  He started with the Patriots organization in 1993; his leaving the organization had an impact.  Is it your argument that Belichick was the brains behind the offense ..... because he was a WR/TE coach in DET in 1977?

I'm not sure which of your flexes is more odd -- trying to diminish Weis' impact when his NFL coaching career started when you were in diapers, or being a bigger fan of Ben Johnson than his own family members.

My argument is that Ben Johnson is far more of a factor in the Lions success than Charlie Weiss was in the Patriots success.

This is a bit unhinged given my response, everything okay?

So Hurts is still in concussion protocol.

Is that to be expected until practice reports come out tomorrow afternoon, or should that be a legitimate concern regarding his health and availability for the game on Sunday?

Great news

I think we can be legitimately concerned if he isn’t FP tomorrow.

What a jackass move…he claimed not to know about it from what I read.

If they do not resign McCarthy DAL will end up with an unqualified replacement, JJ doesn’t value paying for top coaching help.

Cannot go away soon enough. I read an article earlier about him valuing what fans want more than what GMs and the rest of the league does when it comes to coaching decisions and their pay. Guy is just an idiot.

Can't believe the season is over. NFL season always flies by way too quickly.

Football season in general. The next Saturday with college football is August 25. Seems like a lifetime away. We still have a month of the NFL.

I see.  I can argue that Johnson has been given a lot of talented personnel.

Goff -- #1 overall pick, Gibbs -- #12 overall pick, Williams -- #12 overall pick, Sewell -- #7 overall pick, Decker -- #16 overall pick, Ragnow -- #20 overall pick, Zeitler -- #27 overall pick

That's 7 guys out of 11 starters who were first round picks.  LaPorta was the first pick of the 2nd round.  When you're terrible as long as the Lions were and draft every year in the top half of the first round, at some point the talent will mesh together if the GM doesn't trade them all away.  I give the current staff in DET credit for being much better than the past few regimes, but the Lions hit a stage in the organization life cycle where they acquired a lot of top end and cheap talent at the same time.  Maybe Ben Johnson had significant input on drafting/acquiring that talent, and maybe he's the missing piece in DET who unlocked it.  Time will tell.

Johnson will get a head coaching job if he wishes, and he does certainly deserve one.  Like pretty much every other first time head coach, though, he's more likely going to have to build the type of nucleus DET has rather than inherit one.

So I see ESPN and FS1 are determined to try and make the Jalen in the protocol thing an issue despite it being meaningless since we haven't practiced yet.

I guess they are extra amped up because Joy stopped banging all of them.

Not that I have anything against Shipley, but Bucky Irving was sitting there and taken at 125,  The Eagles could have had him at 123.  They outsmarted themselves.  Irving is a tremendous talent if you have watched him all year.  He is in the Jahmyr Gibbs mold.

I wasn't thrilled with Shipley at all and I hope having him on the roster doesn't impact them taking a RB this year. Gainwell can walk. Loaded RB class. Take a good one.

You do know that he thinks the NFL season is legit over because he thinks the Eagles are going to lose in the first round.

"I know you’re not here every day with the local media. I’m probably not giving you that information. We’ll see. Got to talk to the trainers, talk to Jalen. We’ll get him in tomorrow. John is going to ask me tomorrow. Eliot will ask me tomorrow, how is Jalen? I’m going to say, I got to see him a little bit more. I’ll let you know Wednesday. Wednesday is going to come. It’s going to be before practice. They’re going to ask me again and I’m
going to say, I have got to see how it’s looking out there and I will get you some more information on Friday. Friday we’ll see if he’s on the injury report or not.
When Friday comes, they’re going to ask, what do you think? What’s going to happen here? I’ll say, we’ll get you the injury report later in the day. I just string them along."
