EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Bash me for saying this after a playoff win, but the Eagles do have a fundamental ticking time bomb in their construction.

It's only seeing part of the picture to say the Eagles are built around the running game.  That's not the entire reality.  The reality is that the Eagles pure passing game is low volume, inconsistent, not dangerous, not respected by opposing offenses and requires a quad of 4 elite weapons just to get to that status...and they compensate for that reality with a QB who runs really well, an unstoppable 1 yard play, and...above all else...a team has overwhelming talent advantages over the competition, literally stacked with high end talent at nearly every single position on the depth chart.

TLDR...the situation here is a meh QB and an arm chair GM's fantasy roster with almost 21 studs in the lineup.  Once that $250m contract actually kicks in and it becomes logistically impossible to keep the stacked roster completely intact, the party is over.  So ignore whether or not you can win a SB with this situation.  The concern is how long the situation can be maintained...and the answer is not very long.

You can win a SB with a participant system QB, but you can't pay them $250m.

Yup ravens won a super bowl with a number 1 defense and. Really good running game, and they didnt pay trent dilfer top qb money.

I had a lot of hope for hurts after he looked like an mvp during the superbowl bit since then even though hurts keeps winning it more often than not seems ugly and harder then it needs to be for a team with elite talent all over the field

I loved how Mailata, Lane, and I think Dickerson walked up to behind him and then triangled him in while getting Hurts out of the way. Made him feel small and boxed in

Again i think that still brings up the question is moore not that good or is he limited by Hurts. This is almost every year except one that the eagles had to go run heavy because the pass game cant get going.

What year did they not go run heavy?  They were still over 50% rush in 2022.

Tbh I’m not thrilled going against Flores and Vikings defense simply cause he’ll bring blitzes and we didn’t exactly handle those great today. I’d prefer the rams of all 3

I think the team can run on the Vikings front.  They actually did score a TD on a blitz today.  I think the good part is that it forces quick solutions/decisions for Hurts.

The easy answer is to move on from Hurts as soon as possible.

The nightmare is to start restructuring his deal and adding more dead money to it and staying tied to him longer. It will help keep the talent here, but keeps the handcuffs on the team.

Im not worried about talent with Howie. Dont forget he once gave Wentz a huge contract as well.

Not every year can be a super bowl contending year, but he will always have us in playoff contention, and rebuilt quickly in to a super bowl contender. The lows are never that low, and never that long with Howie.

Youre not wrong, but its also not a concern. We will be fine thanks to the GM.

I brought this up after the ravens game. If you go watch the all 22 that game aj brown’s routes weren’t exactly gearing to what he does best. I would point this out cowboy fans said similar things when it came to lamb and Moore for stretches.

DPI on a non-catchable ball. My favorite.

Man Daniele is already good, we are going to have our hands full with that team for quite some time.

We've seen this with other rookie QBs only to see a massive drop off after their rookie season

Those are big losses.

Tbh i think Bucs are a hit or miss team. Can be the team that loses to Dallas and falcons (with a bad cousins) and tough games vs. a bad saints team down a ton of players. Or can come out play like they did against the chargers. They are very inconsistent. They have 10 wins but should’ve been closer to 12-13 if they played better against lesser teams

I feel the exact same way as the Rams. They took Detroit to overtime, beat the Vikings, but then lost to the Bears and got Blown out by the Cardinals

I don't think the entire aerial playbook and route tree is open and utilized right now.  When we've been through 4 different playcallers and consistently see the same concepts, the same things left out...they are all adjusting and compensating for one common denominator.

Yes, but it still clicked a lot better than this and i suppose im not remembering correctly but, they seemed a lot more balanced. They could easily beat you both ways that year. Now it seems like a struggle

Washington chasing points since their first drive.    Could be up 19-17 if they didn't Sirianni themselves.

Too much time left to chase a TD there

I can't figure out still who I want to win this game.

Washington can't do anything right.  1st and goal from the 1. 0 points.  Damngnit

Fair enough, there is reasons why the cowboys and chargers chose not to retain him

What a stand by TB

Wow Washington. Stupid

Commanders are pulling a Eagles vs Jags, so many points left on the board

Washington.  We want no part of Hurts dealing with  Bowles defense
