Yup. The passing game we saw yesterday was similar to what we saw during that ravens and Carolina stretch. I’m not sure how anyone watches that game and doesn’t have some concern about it. Outside of the Steelers game, the passing game with hurts has been lackluster 3 out of his last 4 starts (not including commanders due to him being knocked out early). The fact aj brown had 1 reception for 10 yards is also an issue. I find it hard to believe the packers down their best corner and analytics shown there’s a drop off without him that he had 1 reception for 10 yards.

Brown with 10 yards is pathetic.   Can't be sugar-coated.

Obviously we match up better against the Rams who Saquon can run all over again but I think our Defense could give Darnold some serious issues.    Either way, I'm very confident for next week.  This is where the #2 Seed is still beneficial, we are Home again next week.

Dan and I are aligned that Kellen Moore is the problem.

Of course.  But there wasn't much optimism after the Falcons game in 2017 either.

The odd thing about this, is I'm pretty sure it was you, specifically, who I recall being the most optimistic after Wentz went down against the Rams. I thought the season was over that night. You had other thoughts and said Foles could step in and make do. You were thoroughly, completely, brazenly, right, and I was absolutely wrong. My spirits were lifted after Ryan missed Julio on that final play, and they were again last night. It's such a rare thing to watch your favorite team play in the biggest game of the year, even rarer to win it, but just get to the dance, and anything can happen.

Somewhere I saw that we're playing the Vikings, like the schedule has already been locked. Obviously, somebody jumped ahead.

It is the bar....but statistically, there is a greater than 50% chance that whomever you replace Hurts with will not clear that bar.

As much as this offense may carry the QB and it's easy to say that "QB x would look so much better here"...QB x already has a starting job.  We are looking at Mckee, rookies, Sam Darnolds and Baker Mayfields (before they surprised and proved to take a starting job)...and next offseason's version of Sam Darnold has a 95% chance of going in the other direction.

I agree chances are that whoever replaces him won’t be much better.

But the replacement player won’t cost $250 million, either.

We are likely going to lose 3/4 of Becton, Williams, Baun and Sweat because of Hurts’ contract.

That’s the real problem. If Hurts was making $10M a year, it wouldn’t matter. But at $50M per year, he needs to be a decisive player, not a hinderance.

Always good to question your OC after a playoff win. Way to celebrate.

Jalen hurts has his own set of issues. he needs to work on them. He needs to get better. He can’t play like he did yesterday going forward because you’re gonna face better teams. If he does we are probably going to get eliminated.

i said last night kellen Moore also has an issue. This was one of the things Cowboys fans said they absolutely disliked about him and his offense. Similar with lamb that he would just disappear from the playbook or the game plan for long stretches of time and it didn’t make any sense. This has happened with AJ Brown a lot this year. why I brought it up after the ravens game. Can just dump it all on hurts but when at his previous job he had fans saying the same thing it tends to be an issue with him as much as hurts missed some throws.

How do you get the ball in their hands when your QB doesn’t see the field well, refuses to pull the trigger when people are open, and repeatedly takes unnecessary sacks?

Hurts is THE limiting factor for the passing game.

This all happens when Hurts drops back and takes 3-4 seconds to get the ball out......Hurts seems more comfortable with quick throws and an uptempo offense. Hurts holding onto the ball too long is a disaster 9/10 times. Coaches have to dig deep, our offense at times without Saquon is not that scary, it has the potential to be scary.

Don't get me wrong, Hurts is not playing well, but the scheme and play calling is alarming with the weapons that we have to throw to. Get the ball out quicker with some different route concepts.

We need better from Hurts and Moore. Figure it TF out or I don't see us making it to the SB.

Yup.

This is why I was beating the drum before and during the game to stop passing the ball.

He’s not a good passer. It is what it is. Do not allow him to pass the ball on early downs because he is almost guaranteed to stall the drive.

If we run on first and second down, there is a really good chance we are in 3rd and 4 type situations, which means you can do high percentage plays and convert the first down.

After the score turned 10-0 the game was basically out of reach for the Packers.  As much as i wanted the Giants game treatment in the second half…given 2 passes to show something then forced to hand the ball of the rest of the game.  He needed to punch his own way out of the funk.  He was ‘better’…but in no way did he redeem himself.  Overall it was a terrible game from him…one of his worst of the season.

What i do find hilarious was the lack of trust displayed on both sides of the field for both QBs all game.  Love was beyond abysmal. He was our best player yesterday and not because of the turn overs…because he simply had zero game awareness.  He probably let 2 mins run off in the last 6-7 mins simply because he seemed to be in no hurry to get to the LOS to hand the ball off again.  Kudos to him and GB for basically admitting defeat early.

At the game, it didn't look like there were a alot of open receivers.  There were also some poor play calls that cost them.  Specifically, I remember a called play action (not RPO) in the first half that would have been a long Barkley TD run had they handed it off.   You could have drove a Mack truck through the hole.

I thought the failure to establish the run was more limiting than anything Hurts did.  They really need to get that run game going to open up passing lanes.  Also, AJ looked like he was limping coming off/on the field so that may have limited his ability to get the separation we accustomed to seeing.

He has had a very good season. Hopefully, he can get healthy for next year.

I’ve probably been one of Dean’s biggest critics all year…i don’t want to undersell or oversell him here.  He’s often the worst defender on the field, in a good way.  Huge kudos to him for the way he’s handled the green dot this year.  He has his worts…mainly coverage or anything the involves him needing to move backwards or make a tackle in space…or shockingly getting himself lined up correctly.  But he’s probably the 2nd most important piece to our run defense.  In terms of gap discipline and instincts there…he’s one of the best in the league.  He was definitely working himself towards a mid level starter medium term contract.  Hopefully the injury isn’t ‘that bad’.  We’ve struggled with LB’s for years…but he reminds me a lot of Kendricks in the SB run.  Put next to a top tier partner and allowed to play in a way that suites his strengths, he’s very good.

That’s why I keep saying it’s a twofold problem. Hurts missed some throws yesterday like the tush push fake and held onto the ball to take a sack instead of throwing it away (also didn’t have a quick trigger and we didn’t run an offense that had a quick trigger). That said, it feels like this offense is very predictable (heck lane said Carolina was calling out what they were going to do… feels Like the packers very much knew) and they’re just relying on their talent to win over the other team‘s talent. Which was what they tried to rely on last year and eventually it caught up to them.

He sucks, been saying it all year. People give him a pass because of Hurts limitations and make a fallacy like "Well the offense struggled last year under Brian Johnson, so therefore, Moore must be good!"

Watch the games, look at the offense, the scheme is bad. Period.

McKee would run the offense better and they have him inactive.

The question is why does he feel the need to call this play? Did he expect a different coverage? Does he feel limited by the QB?

I was hopeful that they could still do it.  We had seen Foles catch fire and have the 27-2 run in 2013.     It was in there.   Sadly, with Hurts, we've never seen that level of passing acumen.  We don't need it.  But, we need way way better than last night.

Meanwhile, I was discouraged with the way the Falcons game went in 2017.  They stayed alive... barely.   So, there was hope that the ride could continue, but Foles had been bad up to that point in his relief of Wentz.  He was ok against the Giants, bad against the Raiders, and then bad against the Falcons.   IIRC, there were some who actually wanted to go with Sudfeld in the playoffs after watching Foles struggle down the stretch.  (Eerily similar to the push for McKee.) I thought that was foolish, but wasn't feeling super confident with the Foles was playing... but there was always that hope that he could catch fire... and fortunately for us all, he did.

I don't think Hurts has that in him.  He has the legs... but he's never been able to pass like Foles when Foles was at his best.  Sadly, Nick never could sustain that, but had some great great moments as an Eagle.

Moore is part of the problem. Hurts has his own issues as well. That said, lurie and the eagles are a very analytical organization. They use that intel to help them in making decisions and assist in what they are seeing on the field. I have to imagine they have the same analytics that Sheil has used on the ringer Philly special most of the season. The eagles passing game from an analytics standpoint according to sheil’s numbers is actually worse than 2021. That to me is a problem. Lurie is going to look at that and say we have to fix it. Jalen hurts is back next year because of his contract and having to find the replacement on top of that. Would anyone really be surprised if Moore isn’t brought back? I wouldn’t be. Do i think it’s likely? No but i wouldn’t be entirely shocked if the pass offense is bad next week in the divisional round and they happen to Lose that it’s considered in that building. That said let’s hope they ball out next week

I'll play devil's advocate again but....

He was talking about it being a tool to clear his head.  Maybe not reviewing his mistakes over and over is the best thing for him.  The best golfers have the ability to immediately forget a bad shot.  Great pitches can shake off a bad throw and get back to painting the zone.  So for him, maybe it's best he centers himself and not focus on what just occurred.

Besides, it's kind of more important that the QB is reading the defense, vs a WR, anyway.

I beat this horse dead by mid season.  I’ve seen Hurts with the tablet in his hands 2 or maybe 3 times during his entire time starting.  Now…what truly happens is an offensive assistant comes and sits next to him and seemingly prepares what’s needed.  They chat..he peaks…they continue interacting.

I think the main issue is that we all see it and whether it’s a problem for the team is unknown, but he has the absolute worst body language on the sidelines.  He will go sit on the bench, stare into oblivion for however long just looking completely blank and void of thought or emotion.  He has that deadpan look even when he’s being spoken too.  At some point he normally gets up and interacts… He does however seem to at least be paying attention as you often hear that when Siri has one of his tantrums that Hurts is one of the first there to diffuse.

If Hurts can play close to the 2022 version of Hurts (different OC and circumstances, but still) then we'll coast to our second ring in 7 years. This defense and ground game is just so much better than it was back then.

It's possible.  That Hurts is in the rearview... just as the 2013 Foles was also in the rearview.    Gotta hope that this coaching staff does what that coaching staff did... which was go back and study what made that older version so much more effective.
