It's in the rules that we can't get good LB for a sustained period of time.

By all accounts, very badly.

Mike Schmidt was so right.

Keep the main thing the main thing…

It’s a shame the Commies are going home next week. Was looking forward to the 3rd meeting.

The question is why does he feel the need to call this play? Did he expect a different coverage? Does he feel limited by the QB?

When I went back and watched the game last night, the play that still pisses me off with Moore is the 3rd and 5 where they threw it behind the line of scrimmage to Barkley with Devonta Smith as their lead blocker.

There’s a ton of things to dislike about the play call. First Smith shouldn’t be the lead blocker. We tried that last year and it rarely worked. Nearly got hurt last year doing it. Furthermore, he’s already dealing with a back injury so why are you putting more stress on him to be a lead blocker.

Secondly it was predictable from the moment Saquon Barkley went into motion. You saw it with the Packers defender. all of them knew it was going to Saquon. So predictability was a problem on that play.

Third you have AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Barkley and Dallas Goedert as weapons along with hurts ability to run. If we thinking throwing a pass behind the line of scrimmage and asking  our smallish WR with a back issue to hold a block is the best play there then we have bigger problems. Yesterday the commanders were in similar situations. They either ran with Daniels, or targeted their big play guys in mclaurin or Ertz or even got Ekeler in space vs. a linebacker 3-4 yards down field. That was a Brian Johnson special by the eagles on that 3rd down.

Look at the tablet over the previous drive. I'm sure Hurts does it but whenever the camera is on him when they're on the sidelines he's very rarely looking at the tablet

Was smitty looking at the tablet? What about goedert? Was Barkley?

Nope they were all just chillin on the bench like most players do.

Like I said its a non story that the media is trying to make into something its not

Nah.  The defense was lights out - spectacular performance.  Special teams were good.  Offensive running game decent.   Offensive passing game needs work.

Sometimes those types of situations can give a team just enough juice to ride in and win a close, hard fought game on emotion and will alone. But then they usually come out flat the next week because it's tough to sustatin that kind of energy every week. I wouldn't be shocked if the Rams won in that fashion, but I expect to steam roll them when they come here after they fall back down from that high.

Apparently mcvay is using the Dan Campbell quote in that locker room about seeing the Vikings in two weeks. So some extra motivation never hurt anyone.

That said Jay glazer’s report saying mcvay told him guys are doing better now that everyone is in az but they are exhausted from everything that’s gone on is worrisome.

Speaking of, the wind didn't seem to be a factor, why were Elliott's kick-offs short? If it's not windy they are usually 5 yards in the endzone.

Patellar tendon is worse than ACL to come back from.

BOOOOO

i kind of figured a chance he’s on pup list to start next year. Really need to keep baun and hope trotter can fill in to start next year or draft a LB relatively high as Dean is on the last year of his contract in 2025

Dan and I are aligned that Kellen Moore is the problem.

He's running the offense that Jalen Hurts wants to run. It came directly from his mouth.

We've had the "same" offense regardless of the coaching staff each and every year. Why do you suppose that is?

Again, because that's what Hurts wants. Again, the words came directly out of his mouth.

Strange how fluid/different the passing game was with backups and a kid making his first start.

This isn't difficult to figure out.

Yeah, I understand the confusion.

I was talking about people are complaining about the optics of reading the book on the sidelines, UTE said "what would you rather he do on the sideline sitting on the bench?" and that's when Mike said "Look at the tablet over the previous drive. I'm sure Hurts does it but whenever the camera is on him when they're on the sidelines he's very rarely looking at the tablet".  So he was saying AJ should as well and brought Hurts into it.

People on WIP were saying "If he wants to read that passage so bad, he should have just had it on a tablet".  I'm sure the Eagles organization loves player loading their own stuff on their equipment

It wasn't a complaint. The poster asked and I made a suggestion and brought up how Hurts is rarely shown looking at the tablet. Thanks for playing

Seems like McVay's reaching and trying to play up some sort of big underdog angle. Vikes are favored by less than a FG and Campbell only said it to out of sportsmanship to O'Connell during the post-game handshake, it's not like he said it to the media in a presser or anything. I don't think he was intending it as some sort of slight to the Rams.

By design. Part of the strategy of the new KO rules is to land it just short of the goal line (in the "catch zone") so that it bounces into the end zone and the starting position is on the 20 instead of the 30.

Trying to find a silver lining. Dean was probably looking at a pretty good sized 2nd contract. There's a chance he might not even see the field next year now. You have to wonder if Howie is thinking injury discount extension next year, or at the very least, his value on the open market won't be what it was.

But yea, Baun just became that much more important to bring back. Trotter really needs to work on 5-7 pounds and his tackling. I'm not worried about his instincts one bit. If they add a higher tier LB in the draft and run back next year with Baun, Trotter, BVS and Burks I think that would be doable.

Anecdotal but I have noticed over the years that Jalen rarely looks at the tablet on the sideline. Whether it means anything I don’t know but most RBs, WRs, etc don’t while most QBs do.

I will say though that while I have been critical of Jalen not seeing the field and missing open receivers I don’t think that was the case most of last night. Didn’t seem to be a lot of guys open.

Even the on play people were complaining about, where Goedert was running open in a drag across the middle, he wasn’t even looking. That would have been a sure incompletion and very like a pick if he had thrown it.

There are throws there to be made; it's dependent on quick recognition by the QB, though.

The first play is a completion to DeVonta if the throw is to his right, away from the defender.  The second play DeVonta is wide open; make his man miss 1-on-1 and it can be a TD.  Gainwell is open on the crosser on a later clip.

You'd love to see guys wide open at the top of their routes, but it's not always going to happen.  The Eagles offense needs quicker recognition and decision making from Hurts.

It was pretty windy on the field.  The ball was doing weird things in the air.  Punts, kickoff that were high seemed to be hanging up.  Passes from both qbs looked like they were hindered as well.

Milton Williams, 43 snaps. Jordan Davis, 13 snaps.

I know they aren't interchangeable players but Milton Williams role on this team is massive. Yes, Moro Ojomo has played more as evident with 23 snaps, but we're fooling ourselves if we think he can make the same impact Williams does.

Gotta bring back Williams.

Doesn't seem like Jordan will be here long term or even exercised for the 5th year if that's all he plays.
