I think he had surgery in early December, with a 6-month recovery. I'd imagine he's good to go by TC. He's also an exclusive rights FA.

As of right now, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is the only healthy LB under contract for next year. Howie has his work cut out for him.

The issue is more he is coming off that injury. It might take him a full season to get back to where he was prior to the injury. Just cause he can play doesn’t mean he’ll look the same his first year back.

gonna have to sign baun and bring in a FA. Probably also spend a higher draft pick on a LB.

Yup. Advancement with acl surgery and recovery have come a long way. This is much harder to come back from.

Wasn't there a defensive player that said it was predictable and he called the play during the game?

That happens a LOT, with every team. Good grief! What do you think film study is for?

There were a ton of injuries yesterday. Did the new field have anything to do with that?

Didn’t seem like it. Besides Dean, the injuries were just contact and Eagles hitting hard.

You're late. Already said I've seen it being used but majority of the time when the camera is on him he's not using it and staring off

Why are you choosing to argue this? Just in a mood to argue for the sake of arguing?

Weird comment. I'm catching up on the blog from last night and in my notifications you just responded to me and I replied. I didn't have time to scroll all your other content to be up to date on all your posts, sorry!

And I already said, yes the tablet is used by other QBs at times, but not every time they are on the sidelines. Sure, you can Google to find some instances of other QBs using tablets, just like I posted an image of Hurts using a tablet.

Here's the thing about it that you and @Wentz_Era and whoever else is obsessed with the tablet need to think about.

  • Other NFL QBs are shown on the sidelines not looking at tablets many times.
  • Other NFL QBs are shown sitting alone, staring, not talking to teammates.
  • Every player has their own way they process things. After a bad series, they may want to shake off the emotion and get their head right, and then look at the tablet or talk to teammates and coaches.
  • Where are the coaches during these shots? You don't see the OC or QB coach talking to him. The coaches can also engage their QB to talk and go over the tablet. They aren't doing it, and aren't bothered by how Hurts conducts himself on the sidelines or else they would do something about it.
  • The broadcast typically only cuts to the QB after he did something bad like a turnover.
  • Otherwise they're showing the coach, the defense, the fans, the players on the field who just made the play. There's a lot of different shots for the crew to put on screen.

Think about your job. You make a mistake and something bad happens. Do you immediately open a training manual and start reading? Or do you get pissed, curse and yell, or go somewhere to cool off and then regroup? Everyone reacts different. They're humans not robots.

Trott Jr needs a shot. OB misses tackles as well but higher upside.

There was a play where Brady said Hurts alerted or checked to a run, then reverted back to the original play call after getting a different look from the defense (can be heard saying "reload" at the LOS pre-snap.) I can't remember which specific play that happened on, anyone else remember?

Yes. Brady praised Hurts for making a split second decision to call an audible and then a second later see how the defense adjusted to the change and then reload back to the original.

The Philadelphia Eagles are one Home Win away from their 2nd NFC Championship Appearance in 3 Years.  Amazing.

I'll pick on you to respond to the mob with pitchforks and torches but it could have been anybody. Nothing personal.

I may be wrong but I count that we had ten possessions in the game.

First possession - TD.

Second possession - FG.

Third possession - penalty.

Fourth possession - penalty.

Fifth possession - penalty.

Sixth possession - they stopped us.

Seventh possession - TD.

Eight possession - FG (after 7 minute drive).

Ninth possession - FG.

Tenth possession - killed the clock.

In sum: five possessions ended in points. Three were stopped by penalties NOT committed by Hurts. The Packers stopped us ONCE without our help. Last possession we ran out the clock.

Yet, somehow, it's all Hurts' fault we didn't score - what? - 50?

Fair approach, but let's get this correct.  There were 11 possessions.  You missed the second, where we threw behind the LOS on third and five.

This was the Eagles' actual fifth possession.  Penalty was declined.  Sack, incompletion, scramble.

  • 1-10-PHI 28 (5:05) J.Hurts sacked at PHI 25 for -3 yards (sack split by I.McDuffie and C.Wooden).
  • 2-13-PHI 25 (4:18) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass incomplete short left.  Penalty on PHI-J.Mailata, Offensive Holding, declined.
  • 3-13-PHI 25 (4:09) (Shotgun) J.Hurts scrambles up the middle to PHI 33 for 8 yards (Q.Walker; R.Gary)

This was the Eagles' actual sixth possession, at midfield with the opportunity to add points at the end of the half.  The penalty was on the attempt to draw the Packers offsides after two incompletions with 4 yards to go.

  • 1-10-GB 45 (:36) (Shotgun) S.Barkley right tackle to GB 39 for 6 yards (J.Bullard; Q.Walker). Timeout #1 by PHI at 00:31.
  • 2-4-GB 39 (:31) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass incomplete short middle to D.Goedert (E.Williams).
  • 3-4-GB 39 (:26) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass incomplete short middle to A.Brown.
  • 4-4-GB 39 (:22) (Shotgun) PENALTY on PHI-D.Goedert, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at GB 39 - No Play.

I listened to this part of the press conference live and I thought Jalen hit it spot on. he talked about this season the passing game has been very choppy. That’s how I would describe it. with the amount of weapons they have on offense and their OL being as great as it is, it shouldn’t be this choppy as consistently as it has with the passing game. Even yesterday it was this. They started off the game 6 for 13 passing the ball. They finished the game 7 for 8. Maybe knocking off some of the rust hope them later in the game to not be as choppy. But I would argue from like the Dallas game (in Dallas) thru the Carolina they had been very choppy in the pass game. Steelers it look like the might have turned the corner and then hurts got concussed against Washington

Sign Baun.  Monitor Dean's recovery and then maybe extend him towards the end of or after next season (before FA starts).

It give Howie a little more flexibility during the off-season with extending Jurgens and the Becton/Williams/Rodgers/Johnson decisions.

Baun's price keeps going up and up.

It's been good to see Dean's growth. And he didn't have an injury history in college, but was recovering from injury at the time of the draft which is why he fell to us. This is now his 2nd injury with us right? Unfortunately just can't rely on him going forward and have to prepare. Sign Baun, see how the others develop and draft a LB or at least sign a free agent. Add a top DE prospect in the draft and that should help as well.

So you think Hurts played well, then?

I'm trying to find the play to watch it again, I was curious to see what he might've seen prior to reverting.

Was hoping they were going to lean on Barkley more. They came out with Hurts and he looked good on the first drive. Then the Packers adjusted sadly

And I think in general, fully rehabbing a reattached ligament is easier / more likely when compared to a major tendon like that.

Feel bad for Dean he had a great year.
