Actually started 6 for 6, then 0 for 7, then 7 for 8.

Reminded my of the Baltimore game, where the offense disappeared in the third quarter then showed up again to put the game away.

Last three possessions - TD, FG, FG.

Hurts doesn’t get enough credit for some of the huge late game drives. You can credit the running game but someone has to manage the drives late in games and he does it well.

Watch Kellen Moore get the Cowboys job

This is what I was thinking.

Hopefully Steichen gets let go then and we can bring him back

I'm going to have nightmares about this until they hire another coach.

As funny as it would be for Cowboys to sign McCarthy to a new deal, it would be even funnier if they lose him to another team and have to start a coaching search like a month after everyone else.

The question is "What can be done about it?”

My answer is that all those plays were slow developing plays oriented toward achieving a splash result.  Green Bay deployed their secondary to keep the receivers in front of them.  Well then, take the short completions … the quick release completions.

Is it Moore or Siri putting his hand in the cookie jar again? Where did all those cool crossing and rub patterns go? They once again started the game with no hots or answer to blitzes. Shouldn't take a whole half to come up with answers. The receivers weren't even looking back for the ball in many of those early blitzes smh.

He should be 2 over KP if nothing else

Agreed there. Don't get me wrong either I would love to have a qb throwing the ball better I agree there and it was weird the offense looked different in the passing game with kp and tm but unfortunately I think it's like siri they are getting the job done and the numbers look good compared to other teams around the league.

I would love to see Jalen rework his mechanics a bit in the off season. That and maybe contact like manning or Brady to study fim to learn to read defenses better.

We can't change the offense at this point, but generally speaking...

- Less screens. We suck at it. Our WRs can't block. Our OL is too good so the DL doesn't get enough penetration.
- More deep throws. We don't throw it deep anymore! Those are how you get DPIs. Look at Kenny Pickett chucking it vs. Washington. Give our WRs a chance. IMO, this is being coached out of Hurts, because he was always great at this as recently as September.
- More timing comebacks/smoke routes. All these CBs playing off means there's space. Just throw and take the easy 5 yards.
- Less Cowards' runs on 3rd and long. We did it 3 times on Sunday

They already announced he's coming back.

Did Alex Smith actually call our secondary the weak link before the game? Why do they put people on TV to talk about football if they don't watch football.

I didn't catch that but Tom Brady is absolutely the worst color commentator right now.  He may actually be worse than Collinsworth.

So you think Hurts played well, then?

Not particularly. But he had a lot of company with that. The OL in particular was up and down. The WRs were both sub par, clearly hurting; they couldn’t run. The play calling was beyond conservative, but within reason.

Did you see something different?

Phillies lol

I know people think the Packers are poop and overall they may not be great but they have by far the best ranked defense the Eagles will face in the NFC. I really do think it gets easier from here.

I'm calling this a C+ game for Jalen

This will probably be the most contentious part of your post, but I challenge anyone who disagrees with it to tell me the time stamp of the plays where they think Hurts made a bad play so that we can review them to see where he could've done better. Off the top of my head, there was the miss deep ball to AJ on the fake tush push on 3rd, and then he took a bad sack sliding near Lane instead of throwing it away on 1st or 2nd down. There was a worm burner on another 3rd down but not sure if that wasn't a throw away either based on which of his reads were covered.

We can't decide if it's Siri's offense, Moore's offense but at times Siri interferes, Moore's offense but limited by Hurts, Hurts offense no matter who the coach or OC is, Moore's offense and he can't adjust. Maybe it's a little of everything.

True. I think the Lions beat them silly though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of players on the bench 'reading a book' next week (if the game is going well).

Dude almost taking out Lane's knees on his patented slide when he could throw it away move, is some of the dumber football you will see.

OK, so who am we rooting for tonight??  Rams or Vikings?

Vikings have a great record and on paper have a good team.  They just look like frauds and looking at their schedule they have 2 wins vs the bears, then the beat the Jags, Colts, Titans.  That's 5 easy wins.  Anytime they played a good team, they've lost.  I'd like our chances against the Vikings, but you just never know what Sam Darnold can do.

Rams are better now then they were at the beginning of the season.   If they came to Philly, they would be a warm weather dome team playing in a January playoff game outside and in the cold.  Also, Saquon shredded their rushing defense last time we played them.

I think I'm leaning towards wanting to play the Rams?

Random thoughts on a game that alternated between feeling like a blowout to a blown lead, back and forth, until the the 4th quarter.

OFFENSE

- I'm calling this a C+ game for Jalen, but it was just weird all the way around. Start 6/6, then go 0/7, then close out 7/8 in the 2nd half to end up 13/21 for 131 yards and 2 TDs. Obviously the best stat is the lack of turnovers as compared to the competition. He missed on the fake brotherly shove (only incompletion of the 2nd half), but other than that I'm not convinced there were a ton of open guys he was missing. It really felt like Kellen Moore crapped the bed for a long period in this game. I HATED the swing pass call to Barkley on 3rd and 5 on our 2nd drive -- I know DeVonta is tough, but let's stop with plays that have him as a lead blocker. On our 3rd drive, we go 3 straight incompletions after 1st and 10 at the GB 13 -- it didn't seem like anyone was open. But just when we seem dead, they finally get Jalen out of the pocket and he connects with Smitty for a long gain, and 2 plays later he audibles to the screen to Goedert for a TD (not a great throw, hell of a catch and run). The disappointing part was this game could/should have been over in the 1st half. Give GB's defense a ton of credit as it seemed they were very well prepared, but I put this 75% on play calling. Moore was just bad, but at least we finally scored on our last 3 real drives to end the game. The defense bailed them out long enough.

- Saquon is just a beast -- it didn't seem like he had a great game but ended up with 119 that could have been 178 had he gone to the house at the end. I thought the OL played well most of the game but did struggle with some of the pressures in the 2nd quarter.

- AJ really did block his butt off, and Smitty had a few grabs. Overall it didn't seem like they were getting open. I don't know why we hate calling slants to AJ -- they are damn near unstoppable. And nice to know Dotson is still alive. Again, it feels like the lack of production is mainly on the play calling.

- I had forgotten what an upgrade Goedert is over Calcaterra. That TD was a thing of beauty -- the catch, the stiff arms, all of it.

- The illegal motion penalty on Smitty (negated a 1st down run by Jalen) and the lack of a PI when Goedert got mauled were ridiculous.

DEFENSE

- Nolan Smith just abused a 1st team all pro RT (I kinda wanted Lane to start yelling "is this your 1st team all-pro, AP?"). The 2 sacks were awesome, but he's so physical taking on blocks for a smaller guy. He's really starting to remind me of BG. He is without a doubt our best pass rusher.

- Jalyx Hunt seemed to get some pressure and play a solid game. Sweat didn't so much, and Huff with his one snap played. Going to need more from Sweat going forward.

- Carter was a monster per usual -- on Jacobs' long run to the half yard line, I thought Carter was going to blow it up he penetrated so quickly. But Jordan Davis had a great game, and Williams and Ojomo played outstanding as well. I am getting a little too fired up about Ojomo -- he is becoming a real problem for offenses. Clearly these guys all benefited from the Packers' injuries, but they dominated the game.

- Just so bummed for Nakobe -- he was having such a monster year. Burks gives effort but missed too many tackles. I want to see Trotter Jr. get a shot at that job next week. Burks was better against Dallas and NYG, but still.

- Baun just keeps making money every week.

- Slay had perfect coverage on that INT, and I'm glad Q finally got one. The PI call on Q was iffy at best. Love averaged only 6.4 YPA and threw 3 picks -- that's domination by the secondary. Did Alex Smith actually call our secondary the weak link before the game? Why do they put people on TV to talk about football if they don't watch football.

- Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many missed tackles.

COACHING

- Fangio won this game for us and bailed out Nick and Kellen. Simple as that.

With regard to play calling, you realize that every play has a check.  Hurts audibles about half the time based on what he thinks he is seeing.  If he doesn't read the defense properly pre-snap, the play that is run will fail.

He did a great job checking to a blitz beater.  The Goedert TD wasn't the play Moore called.

Don't take a rooting interest.  Just stay detached and clinical watching the game.  Then you will know that whichever team wins, you will prefer it had been the other one, because clearly the winner is the better team.

He gets a A+ for the check.  He gets about a C- for the throw.  He nearly threw that away to the point that Goedert couldn't catch it and turn up field.  Really really bad placement on that throw.   Goedert gets a full A++ on that catch and run though.  Great effort.

AJ Brown burned the DBs deep on the fake tush push, he looked perfectly spry to me, Hurts just threw a duck. Hurts was inaccurate yesterday. He's usually accurate even in games when he can't read defenses for crap. Yesterday he was neither accurate nor decisive. Not that the game plan did him any favors. Even some passes completed were behind and low. Goedert's TD was a bad pass, and the other one in the flat he needed to tip to get control of was also an inaccurate ball.

I could be wrong  but I didn’t see it that way at all.  The All 22 of that play will be interesting to watch.  AJ didn’t seem to have any burst at all.  He seemed to be laboring.
