I didn't catch that but Tom Brady is absolutely the worst color commentator right now.  He may actually be worse than Collinsworth.

Is it me or does he call Cam Jergens Cam Yergens?

He gets a A+ for the check.  He gets about a C- for the throw.  He nearly threw that away to the point that Goedert couldn't catch it and turn up field.  Really really bad placement on that throw.   Goedert gets a full A++ on that catch and run though.  Great effort.

AJ was clearly hurting yesterday. He lacked his usual explosiveness.

Out of these guys how Many do people think are back next year:

slay

goedert

milton williams

sweat

baun

becton

rodgers

put over/under at 3.5

tbh i actually think they figure a way to get baun and williams back. I would want becton back but i also think they view steen as being able to start (similar to how seumalo’s career started) and why stoutland wanted him in the draft. i could see them thinking they have a viable replacement for becton and could get a 3rd round comp pick in 2026 for him.

furthermore, I think there’s two reasons why those guys get brought back. I think they learned a lesson after 2022 and in 2023 that you better have competent good linebacker play because you’re not gonna get to where you wanna go just throwing anybody out there. That’s why I think Baun is back. Ask for Milton Williams, when was the last time the Eagles let a young up-and-coming pass rusher leave the organization? I think the last time was Derek Burgess. And that was because he had injury concerns prior. The last time we had something like this was Vinny Curry? Who was going in a free agency when howie came back into power. And howie managed to get it done. So I tend to think they’re not gonna let Milton Williams get out of that building.

Not particularly. But he had a lot of company with that. The OL in particular was up and down. The WRs were both sub par, clearly hurting; they couldn’t run. The play calling was beyond conservative, but within reason.

Did you see something different?

I saw him take stupid sacks, refuse to throw the ball away, slide and roll Lane Johnson's legs under him, bounce several passes.

Even some of his completions were way off. Two to Goedert and one to Calc that I can think of off the top of my head.

Credit for him ending the game well, but he was pretty terrible yesterday.

I'll pick on you to respond to the mob with pitchforks and torches but it could have been anybody. Nothing personal.

I may be wrong but I count that we had ten possessions in the game.

First possession - TD.

Second possession - FG.

Third possession - penalty.

Fourth possession - penalty.

Fifth possession - penalty.

Sixth possession - they stopped us.

Seventh possession - TD.

Eight possession - FG (after 7 minute drive).

Ninth possession - FG.

Tenth possession - killed the clock.

In sum: five possessions ended in points. Three were stopped by penalties NOT committed by Hurts. The Packers stopped us ONCE without our help. Last possession we ran out the clock.

Yet, somehow, it's all Hurts' fault we didn't score - what? - 50?

First possession came off a fumble which started at the 28 yard line. First play was a 16 yard run by Barkley to get them to the 12. Then the OL had to hold protection for, what was it — 6 and a half seconds — before Hurts pulled the trigger.

Second possession ended with a punt after passes on 2nd and 3rd down.

Third possession was the FG. We started at our 30. Barkley ran for 17, Hurts ran for 15, which flipped the field. A few runs and a 10 yard pass got us in scoring range. Then the drive stalled out on 3 consecutive pass attempts which went incomplete.

4th, punt — we had a 5 yard penalty on second down. Otherwise had 11 rushing yards and an incomplete pass on 2nd after the penalty.

5th, punt — Hurts takes a dumb sack, Hurts throws incomplete, Hurts runs for 8 yards.

6th, punt — start at the Packers 45. 6 yard run by Barkley to start, then back to back incomplete passes by Hurts, and a penalty.

7th,  punt — Barkley runs for 11 on his first two rushes, then gets stuffed for a 1 yard loss on the next first down. Hurts takes a sack, Barkley runs for no gain.

8th, TD — this was his best possession.  Game still in doubt, two passes to Smith get us 37 yards before the Herculean effort by Goedert punches it into the end zone.

9th, FG — a couple nice passes as Green Bay focused on the run.

10th, FG — no pass plays were called

11th, end — Barkley slides rather than score the TD.

So, yeah, Hurts absolutely disappeared for the majority of the game.

I don’t know how anyone could watch that game, or go through the play by play, and think Hurts played a good game. He didn’t.

Basically everyone BUT Hurts played well. Hurts came up clutch, and I’ll take that. No easy wins in the playoffs. He made some clutch throws late, the defense held strong and it was enough to win.

But let’s not pretend Hurts played well. He didn’t. Maybe some of that is on Moore. Certainly some credit has to go to Green Bay. As the saying goes, they get paid too.

If Hurts plays like this against Detroit, we will lose by double digits.

Fair approach, but let's get this correct.  There were 11 possessions.  You missed the second, where we threw behind the LOS on third and five.

This was the Eagles' actual fifth possession.  Penalty was declined.  Sack, incompletion, scramble.

  • 1-10-PHI 28 (5:05) J.Hurts sacked at PHI 25 for -3 yards (sack split by I.McDuffie and C.Wooden).
  • 2-13-PHI 25 (4:18) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass incomplete short left.  Penalty on PHI-J.Mailata, Offensive Holding, declined.
  • 3-13-PHI 25 (4:09) (Shotgun) J.Hurts scrambles up the middle to PHI 33 for 8 yards (Q.Walker; R.Gary)

This was the Eagles' actual sixth possession, at midfield with the opportunity to add points at the end of the half.  The penalty was on the attempt to draw the Packers offsides after two incompletions with 4 yards to go.

  • 1-10-GB 45 (:36) (Shotgun) S.Barkley right tackle to GB 39 for 6 yards (J.Bullard; Q.Walker). Timeout #1 by PHI at 00:31.
  • 2-4-GB 39 (:31) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass incomplete short middle to D.Goedert (E.Williams).
  • 3-4-GB 39 (:26) (Shotgun) J.Hurts pass incomplete short middle to A.Brown.
  • 4-4-GB 39 (:22) (Shotgun) PENALTY on PHI-D.Goedert, False Start, 5 yards, enforced at GB 39 - No Play.

I much appreciate this. My point, such as it was, was that Hurts had plenty of company for the mediocre offensive performance. I thought the OL had maybe its worst game of the season. I’ll have a better sense when the All-22 comes out.

I know people think the Packers are poop and overall they may not be great but they have by far the best ranked defense the Eagles will face in the NFC. I really do think it gets easier from here.

I didn't notice that, looked fine to me, I just think the QB sucked. We'll see what the tape gurus say today.

He labored enough to outrun the defenders to get as open as you can be in the NFL. If only Hurts placed the ball correctly. Love the play call though.

NFL is so hard to get the Eagles we are in a handicap match next week

Tenth possession was a Saquon TD without the slide.

I listened to this part of the press conference live and I thought Jalen hit it spot on. he talked about this season the passing game has been very choppy. That’s how I would describe it. with the amount of weapons they have on offense and their OL being as great as it is, it shouldn’t be this choppy as consistently as it has with the passing game. Even yesterday it was this. They started off the game 6 for 13 passing the ball. They finished the game 7 for 8. Maybe knocking off some of the rust hope them later in the game to not be as choppy. But I would argue from like the Dallas game (in Dallas) thru the Carolina they had been very choppy in the pass game. Steelers it look like the might have turned the corner and then hurts got concussed against Washington

even more, they started off 6/6 then 0/7 and then 7/8, really choppy. I hope they talk about the lack of a passing game all week in the media, it seems to fire up the team to fix that for the week.

He had three yards on both defenders.

This is what I said last week on what would happen.  Jerry expected McCarthy to sign a one-year extension and McCarthy finally told him to piss off.

Say what you want about his in-game decisions, but McCarthy would be an excellent hire for the Bears to help develop Caleb Williams.  His offenses are routinely in the top 10.

sweat - on a team friendly deal

baun - he has to be back, the Dean injury makes it even more important

becton - probably

rodgers - depends on what they think about Ringo.  I bring him back to fight it out with Ringo.

I really don’t think Milton Williams is gonna be let out of the building. When was the last time the Eagles allowed a defensive lineman who was a good pass rusher and young to walk out of the building? They had a similar issue going on with Vinny Curry when Howie Roseman got back in the power. Howie managed to get it done before free agency. I just have a hard time believing with the Eagles philosophy that they’re just gonna let him walk away

add on Howie loved him enough to make the pick and we have the video where not everybody was thrilled about that pick

With regard to play calling, you realize that every play has a check.

More often than not on pass plays, but not every play call gets called in with a check to a second play. Especially not when a call comes in late or after a big play down the field.

That surprises me. They had a bit of a cupcake schedule though.

Feel like the Lions, Packers, Rams, etc all ran with ease against them
