Rather play the Vikings. I always want them to play the worst QB available. That's Darnold here. Especially as he laid an egg last week vs. Lions. Rams have more explosive weapons on offense that can go off on you. And now that Dean is out, Vikings will be more preferable.

I think Vikings have better weapons. Jefferson and Addison are a great duo and they have Hockinson and Jones.

Part of the reason was because he did an excellent job selling the fake. I wouldn't say he looks labored, but he has looked more explosive at times

I live about 2,000 miles from Philly; could the wind have been a factor with the loft Hurts put on the pass?  I know you don't normally want to throw a flat ball there if you think the WR is behind the defense, but there was a bit too much air on that throw, IMO.

On the flip side Hurts will have to throw the ball against a good run defense. Plays into their strength as well. I'll take the homeless team that has to fly across the country that SB can run wild on.

Dotson and AJ cooking the idiots on FS1

I’m assuming most of us are rooting for the Rams tonight?

I'd take Darnold any day of the week over Stafford. I don't think Minny has a shot though. They may just get blown out. They've been exposed IMO.

Thanks for the video.  The Packers DB #25 is clearly catching up to AJ.  That wouldn’t normally happen to AJ.

I was listening to Sirius NFL radio the other day and they were talking about how the QB and the OL has to sell regular pass for the screen to work. OL needs to have a regular pass rep for 2 secs and the QB has to look like he's starting to go through his progressions. Both of those lead a DL to overcommit to pass rush. I am assuming that Hurts isn't very good at looking like he's going through his progressions because of the system we normally run, where most of that info is decided for him in pre-snap and he's just reading one guy after snap. Part of the issue with the simplified system for him.

edit: could also be a case of our OL being too good and when they "lose" the other team knows exactly what's going on.

Your edit is spot on.

Always hope for the inferior QB. Darnold in a playoff game, outdoors in January at the Linc?

Yes please.

Vikings are paper tigers.  This is a damn near carbon copy of that Case Keenum team from 2017 we blew out.

Put them up against a real defense and they fold.  Look at what Detroit just did to them.  We are more than capable of doing that to them as well.

They allowed Barkley to run for over 4 yards per carry while the defense focused on stopping the run. There were some glaring pass pro break downs on blitzes and we shouldnt lose sight of the fact that Hurts has begun calling protections this year with Kelce gone. So when blitzes are flooding through, a lot of that will be on Hurts

No doubt. But not all. I'll wait on the All-22 before assigning blame. Others have chosen not to wait.

Well looks like McCarthy is done in Dallas. You knew Jerry was going to do something to grab some headlines, lol.   Now Jerry will probably be trying to get Kellen.   Can we just have our coordinators for longer than a season for a change.  I know after a big season like this Kellen was going to get offers but I hope he decides to stay. Thankfully Vic is happy and wants to stay.

Fangio isn't going anywhere. He has a great situation with young talent and revamped this into the top defense. He can continue to lead a great defense for a while. He's probably tired of hopping teams and he's already tried a HC, he's better at DC.

Everyone knew the potential of Moore leaving. It's why the Head Coach needs to have an offensive philosophy and ability to adjust to different coordinators that fit the philosophy and execute the offense the way he wants to.

I do also think having a better passer at QB would make it easier on a coordinator. They have elite weapons and O line.

Maybe you got teams confused about Nolan Smith abusing 1st Team all pro RT unless i missed something and Zach Tom is a 1st team all pro ?

I think he was joking but Wirfs and Sewell were AP all-pros, Tom mightve been voted as the NFLPA AP or something else.

It wasn't very windy yesterday.

Yup. I truly think the Rams are going to blow them off the field.

Mitchell on Jefferson?

They and the Packers hadn't beat anyone this season.

The only team in the NFC that scares me is...the Eagles. They have to get out of their own way. Elite defense. On offense elite O line, WRs, RB and a good TE room. The QB is a game manager who struggles in the passing game but contributes in the run game. If he plays like his best this season they can beat anyone. But he's the big question mark.

The Vikings defense is predicated on bringing the blitz to create turnovers. If I remember correctly, I think they’re like top five in takeaways

They had 33 Takeaways which was tied for first with the Steelers, and only 2 ahead of the Packers.IMG_8782.thumb.jpeg.ced56795abd3c1c53fa051156169c502.jpeg

First possession came off a fumble which started at the 28 yard line. First play was a 16 yard run by Barkley to get them to the 12. Then the OL had to hold protection for, what was it — 6 and a half seconds — before Hurts pulled the trigger.

Second possession ended with a punt after passes on 2nd and 3rd down.

Third possession was the FG. We started at our 30. Barkley ran for 17, Hurts ran for 15, which flipped the field. A few runs and a 10 yard pass got us in scoring range. Then the drive stalled out on 3 consecutive pass attempts which went incomplete.

4th, punt — we had a 5 yard penalty on second down. Otherwise had 11 rushing yards and an incomplete pass on 2nd after the penalty.

5th, punt — Hurts takes a dumb sack, Hurts throws incomplete, Hurts runs for 8 yards.

6th, punt — start at the Packers 45. 6 yard run by Barkley to start, then back to back incomplete passes by Hurts, and a penalty.

7th,  punt — Barkley runs for 11 on his first two rushes, then gets stuffed for a 1 yard loss on the next first down. Hurts takes a sack, Barkley runs for no gain.

8th, TD — this was his best possession.  Game still in doubt, two passes to Smith get us 37 yards before the Herculean effort by Goedert punches it into the end zone.

9th, FG — a couple nice passes as Green Bay focused on the run.

10th, FG — no pass plays were called

11th, end — Barkley slides rather than score the TD.

So, yeah, Hurts absolutely disappeared for the majority of the game.

I don’t know how anyone could watch that game, or go through the play by play, and think Hurts played a good game. He didn’t.

Basically everyone BUT Hurts played well. Hurts came up clutch, and I’ll take that. No easy wins in the playoffs. He made some clutch throws late, the defense held strong and it was enough to win.

But let’s not pretend Hurts played well. He didn’t. Maybe some of that is on Moore. Certainly some credit has to go to Green Bay. As the saying goes, they get paid too.

If Hurts plays like this against Detroit, we will lose by double digits.

No to that bolded line. Just no. The WRs couldn't run, the OL played a very poor game by their standards, and the play calling was weak. On that last point I may be too harsh, given the physical condition of the receivers. Maybe that was all they could do.

I'm sure this was already posted, but Orlovsky is far from a Hurts defender.

The Packers and Vikings have identical schedules outside of 2 games.

How does this change anything about what I said?

Including last night GB was 2-6 against playoff teams this year.

They also feasted on a cupcake schedule

I watched this a bit ago. If true they need to figure out where the problem is between the play call or the play being changed.

Almost seems like they just run a vanilla scheme and say our talent from our basic fundamentals will beat you which is sad.

I don’t think that’s what he was doing.
