EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Featured Replies

This team, as presently constructed, needs a big WR that blocks well and is still a semi viable #3/#4 WR.

Using Smith as a lead blocker on slow developing pass plays at the LOS is just madness.  AJ Brown does it fairly well, but you still don't want to use your #1 WR as a fullback.

I get it...if you use anyone besides those two...ie Wilson...you are telegraphing the play.  If Wilson were utilized more as an actual target, then maybe you could get him out there in 11 personnel to set up and block some of these plays.  Or you have Calcaterra do it in 12 personnel, which I'm not sure I've noticed they've done with him in the past.

All I know is they do a bad job of setting up these plays.

The Packers stole our signals.

How does this change anything about what I said?

Including last night GB was 2-6 against playoff teams this year.

They also feasted on a cupcake schedule

If you meant to say that they both had weak schedules, then I agree. My point was that the strength of their opponents wasn't much of a differntiator when comparing the GB def vs the MIN def. I might also have been confusing your point about the MIN rush defense with the other post someone made about the packers having the best defense we'd face from here on out.

Thanks. Very interesting. I have some thoughts on that but I'll wait until the All-22. Dan Orlovsky has that and I don't.

If no one is open, that's on the coaching staff.  They need to look at their scheme and tendencies.

I don't have a big preference on who wins tonight; I think the Eagles should be able to beat either the Rams or Vikings.  I predicted the Rams to win but that was before the change of venue; I'm sticking with the same prediction even though I think the game now is a pick 'em.

NFL is so hard to get the Eagles we are in a handicap match next week

Surprised no one commented on this, but this is the dude that threw CJGJ out, right?  Yeah - we're definitely F'd for next week.

Maybe the journalists at Fox Sports should focus on not sleeping with each other and committing sexual harassment of employees.

They are just spreading joy around the offices

Darnold isn't a great QB by any stretch, but I think he might be a bit underestimated judging by some of the comments here. I still maintain that Stafford is the best QB in the NFC so I completely agree that no team should wanting to draw him in the divisional rd, but I feel like that MIN defense paired with a capable Darnold in O'Connell's system won't be as much of a cake walk as that Packers game just was. We'll be favored by about 4 pts regardless of who wins tonight, but I expect the game to actually be close unlike yesterday.

I watched this a bit ago. If true they need to figure out where the problem is between the play call or the play being changed.

Almost seems like they just run a vanilla scheme and say our talent from our basic fundamentals will beat you which is sad.

A big part of it, IMHO, is that teams have to load up to stop the run, leaving our WRs and TE1 one-on-one, where they can shine. Yesterday I think the WRs were too hobbled to be a threat so GB could load the box with impunity. They rushed seven more than once and six a bunch of times. Our WRs couldn't get open.

Is it? I don't keep track of the refs. That sucks if it is the same ref. There was a lot of BS calls that game

I think Rams have the pass rush to get to Darnold, and Stanford can handle the Flores blitz. Which is great for us because Saquon set the Eagles rushing record against LA iirc.

He was the head referee but not the guy that called the penalties

 The author gonna put out a new edition with Forward by AJ Brown.

Pretty sure I remember the white hat being right there for the first flag when the dude punched CJ in the face and he threw the flag on CJ for saying something
