EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Featured Replies

What I remember about that 89 playoff loss was that Eric Allen got hurt during the week, reportedly horsing around in the locker room. I think he missed the game. We quickly fell behind early and it was lights out. Plus, it rained, which sucked. And I went to the game with a Rams fan. He had a great time while I was miserable. Just a horrid memory.

I've said for weeks, the Vikings are frauds, no reason to be scared of them.

And no reason to fear the Rams either, but they at least beat a couple legit teams. The Vikings had a cake walk schedule.

Here’s to hoping the Commies beat the Lions so we can play them at home.

My prediction is that they do beat the Lions.

Where is all the Burks hate coming from?

His tackle on the opening kickoff yesterday set the tone of the game.  Was that bad?

I trust Fangio to come up with the optimal solution.  He has clearly done that in dealing with BG’s injury … both Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt have thrived.

That was McVay's 8th Playoff win with the Rams.   He's been on a very strong run with that team.   5 of them have been with Stafford.

This looks awfully familiar.  Weren't the Steelers fans saying the same thing before our game against them?

Two Heath Sherman fumbles didn't help.

Any injuries they are dealing with?

Not that I'm tracking, at least not significant ones like GB with Alexander or us with Dean. I guess higbee got hurt tonight? I think that'd be the only somewhat significant one

On that play what stop in the progression was Gainwell?

Impossible to say for sure, but my guess is it would depend on the coverage… given it was a wheel/drag vs zone, the read was likely zone which made it the 3rd or so checkdown.

But let’s be more practical — at the time he made the pass to Goedert, Gainwell was right in his field of view. Hurts chose to force it into a triangle of coverage rather than take the safer, higher conversion option on second down.

To be clear, I don’t actually hold this particular play against Hurts that much; it was actually one of the better of his incomplete passes. He stayed in the pocket and delivered a catchable ball which unfortunately was broken up by what seemed to be clear PI from my perspective.

But this idea that everyone was covered all game is a joke. That’s the point. People were open. It’s the NFL — you’re not always going to have 12 yards of separation.

Higbee was taken to the hospital with his chest injury. Witherspoon never returned so he could be dinged up

Great play, on special teams... The defense seemed to take a noticeable step back once Dean came out of the game. He was noticeably missing tackles and even interfered with Baun making an important tackle. Hopefully with him having a full week of practice he will play more disciplined and be more sound. Maybe he should borrow AJ's book. All the important paragraphs are already highlighted too.

Vikings had 4 losses on the year. All 4 were to the lions and rams.

just realize not just all 4 to the rams and lions but each time it happened in back to back weeks.

I see that as highly unlikely. But I hope so.

My younger brother doesn’t watch much NFL football.  He sent me a text tonight that read:

"Holy F is that Darnold the sh!ts”

I fully believe that if we step up and play our game, we'll be in the Superdome in February.

Anything can happen, of course so there's no guarantees.

Well, they were so successful at containing him last time, so it could happen. They held him to 255 yards last game.

When this team plays a complete game firing on all cylinders, they destroy every team in the NFC (a healthy lions would've been an amazing matchup, as of now with a decimated defense we should be able to move the ball easily). They just need to actually do it for once.

Get your stud WR involved, commit to the run game EARLY, and get some defensive stops. This team can make it all the way as long as hurts can humble himself and stick to being a game manager

Probably our worst playoff game ever. The Toast Jenkins game. We were terrible.

Couple Barkley screens or quick passes to Goedert will make them pay for blitzing real quick.

Glad he is ok and hope he is out next week for his safety and an Eagles win.
