30. Philadelphia Eagles: JT Tuimoloau, Edge, Ohio State

With Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham possibly moving on, the Eagles will be looking for reinforcements on the edges this offseason. Tuimoloau (6-4, 270) is a smart, alert player who plays the run well and also can get after the quarterback. In three College Football Playoff games this year, he has combined for 17 total pressures.

62. Philadelphia Eagles: Grey Zabel, G/C, North Dakota State

Pass. Not a fan of either him or Sawyer but if had to choose would be Sawyer

Jack Sawyer is the better one. As a Buckeye fan, JT has never really lived up to the hype. Would really pass on both of them. If they could learn some pass rushing moves, there’s potential but they’re not that great

He might get the Seattle job. Would like him if Moore gets hired.

Question -  Say Deion somehow ends up getting the job in Dallas, is his first big move to put together a blockbuster to move up to land Shedeur ?

For the 5th or 6th time, by the fact that the best teams now rush very successfully in the top 10.  The league is a copy cat league.  Same as it ever was.

note: Those '16 Bills were 7-9 and the '17 Bills were 9-7.  It wasn't time back then.  It is now.

I’m talking specifically about the Fing Buffalo Bills. Show me how the running game has become more important to them when they already established prior to Josh Allen getting there being the top rushing team and a top 5 rushing team. My point for the Buffalo Bills itwas just as important to them in 2016 as it is in 2024. it didn’t change for them. They’ve always wanted that.  So it didn’t get more important to over the last 6 years. Because it was just as important to them 9 years ago. 2015 no. 1 rushing team. 2016 no. 1 rushing team. 2017 no. 5 rushing team. It’s not more important now cause Josh Allen’s there. It was always super important to them before he even got to Buffalo. It’s an entire decade of it being established and important they continued it when they drafted Allen and throughout his 6 years there

they’ve put a high value on the importances of the running game for a decade now.

I'm a big fan of Princely..  Think he will be one of the best coming out of this class..  Also, Dani Dennis-Sutton is going back to PSU so cross him off that list.

What I hear you saying, and please correct me if I am wrong. Is that running plays produce more wear and tear on the O-Line than passing plays do.  Am I hearing you correctly?

I will defer to @just relax on whether that is the case.  I’ve always been of the belief that running plays, where the players fire out and lay the hits on the Defense are less wear and tear than passing plays where the Defense gets to lay the hits on them.

Pass blocking is much more physically and emotionally demanding than run blocking. It's also much less fun and far more dangerous. You're not going to get rolled up when you fire out. When you run block you get to hit somebody; when you pass block you're catching rather than throwing punches, absorbing punishment rather than dishing it out. Teams that run beat their opponents up. That's what the Eagles do and it's a large part of why we are so successful in the second half and particularly the fourth quarter.

Hopefully Lurie and Howie get the word out there for OC candidates so they wait for the Eagles job if they think it'll be open.

Oh great.

So this, and our OC has three interviews this Weekend. Some red flags there.

Any days this week that the a-hole will be preparing for the playoff game?

This coordinator interview ish during the playoffs needs to be put under control. You should not be able to interview anyone currently under contract with a team while the season is still going on. Sure the Eagles could deny the request, but why make the team screw their employee out of a potential job?

All teams should have to wait until the day after the Super Bowl, otherwise they can talk to people who aren't under contract with another team. This puts everyone on the same playing field regardless of when their season ends. All this does is F playoff teams when their coordinators get 40 interviews during the playoffs  and get poached after their season ends while all the desired coordinators are taken by teams who were out months ago

The game will always be somewhat cyclical in that when the NFL became more of a pass heavy league, coaches reacted by utilizing LBs who are more adept at defending the pass.  The natural counteraction to that is for offenses to attack those smaller, lighter, more agile LBs in the running game, where they’re less likely to hold up.

It’s also currently true that, of the remaining 8 playoff teams, the Eagles are the only one without a starting quarterback drafted in the first round.  In fact, 6 of those other 7 QBs were top 10 draft picks.

Clearly - Dak to the Browns for pick number 2.

Sutton, Scourton, or Jalon Walker

Dennis-Sutton dropping back into coverage and making that INT was awesome last game and he really moved up the rankings

I think that is much easier say this than have it play out that way. The Titans learned this twice when they had two 2000 yard rushers the following year one of them got hurt and the other one wasn’t nearly as effective (still good just not what it was the previous year) and their running game dropped from 2 to 17th.

And did they even try to go with a 2 headed monster the next year?   No.  So, did they learn the lesson that I am talking about or a very different one?  Seems to me its an apples to oranges comparison.

The Titans didn't try to find a second guy to team up with Henry or Johnson, though they had the guy in the building... but waived him.   After the 2010 draft, they signed LaGarrette Blount as an UDFA.  But, they waived him before the first game, and he was picked up by Tampa where he went on to have a 1k yard season.   Whoops.  That was the way that the Titans could have fixed their issue, but they didn't see it.   After Henry's 2k season they added Brian Hill.  If you are wondering who that is... you aren't alone.  He never suited up for them for a single game and spent 2021 on IR.

I am hoping that the Eagles are smarter than that.

It would kind of make sense to have a head coach hiring date sort of like the start of free agency. Interview period begins after the Super Bowl and then hiring date a week later.

I am suggesting that it very much could.  My playing days are a long time ago... and quite frankly, we didn't pass block.

Moore meeting with Dallas on Friday. It’s still ridiculous how they don’t implement rules where you can’t interview until after the season.

Some OC thoughts if Moore leaves.

Maybe Nussmeier just moves up from QB coach. The eagles have a way of winning games and maybe you dont mess with it much. OC seems unimportant here as Jalen Hurts says the offense looks the way Jalen wants the offense to look.

I dont think its a very attractive job to a brilliant offensive mind because you can see OCs come here and get boxed in to this simplified offense that doesnt make them look good. Except for the fact that they win games. So.. maybe to an OC looking to move on and move up theyll come here because you know wins are coming. For an OC who wants to make a name for himself- not the spot. Hes not going to let HIS scheme shine.

If we hire someone from outside, Id be most interested in someone who runs a potent college offense. We need something simple and high flying. I wonder if Kinsbury wouldnt have been the best hire last offseason. Looking at texas tech this year, their RB looks like he runs about a 6.8 40 yard dash and he is one of the top 20 RBs in the draft class anyway. That passing game opens up the run so much. It would be something to see this OL work when a defense is so spread out and light, and see what someone like Barkley can do in that kind of run game.

If we have to hire someone from the outside, Im probably most interested in another Air Raid expert. Moore has that experience, but hes much more married to more NFL concepts. I want someone who is still leaning much more towards the college style Air Raid offense.

Who cares, Shedeur is not a good QB.
