I’m going to a concert of the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, with my wife this Sunday. Starts at 2:30. Two Brandenburg Concertos (3rd and 5th) and a Bach cantata. Thank heavens for tape delay! I’ve done this before and never knew the outcome before turning on the game. And I fast forward through the commercials. Every time I’ve done this the Eagles have won. So, next week it’s the Orchestra. Tchaikovsky’s Symphonie Pathetique.

And it keeps my wife happy. No football widow, she.

I'm great at respecting the pause, but I won't be able to block out the game traveling through the philly airport unless I do this

Truthfully, the part that's bothering me is not watching the game with schmoopie.

For the last time, no, I do not want to see your balloon knot.

So how are we feeling ahead of Sunday? I think we are absolutely the better team and have a big advantage being the home team. That said Stafford and that pass game is really starting to give me some real concerns. We should win but I keep seeing this image in my head where our season has ended.

Shocking! I didn’t have you feeling a let down prior to a playoff game on my bingo card this week!

The backup to Hurts was Pickett and he did get those opportunities this season.

Because QB1 was out with a concussion if that's what you're referring to. I was talking more about giving the backup some snaps at the end of an already decided game even though the starter is healthy. Outside of padding stats I don't see why a backup couldn't get some experience.

Fight me, now.

Here's the real kicker, its a west coast trip, so LONG flight.  There is only one other direct flight at 9 am which lands at kick off, which means if I took that I will miss the first hour, minimum, navigating the airport there.  Earlier connecting flights don't get me in any sooner AND risk missing the connection.  And then when I get home from my trip I'll be murdered for leaving schmoopie home alone with Ellie for an extra 10 hours.

So I'm better off streaming WIP as much as I can while getting the 7 pm.

If you are flying American they will have the game on their free entertainment so.

That time of year. My wife had COVID all last weekend. I felt it coming yesterday but surprisingly weak for me so far.

Yeah it was influenza A for me.  I have always prided myself as someone that rarely gets sick.  I’ve never gotten the flu shot before.  But both me and my fiancé got it bad.  She got it a day before New Year’s Eve, and it escalated into pneumonia.  I was lucky that mine did not.  Maybe it’s because we’re getting a little older, but this was rough to deal with.  We both said we’d be getting flu shots in the future.

I have done that for some rare regular season games, but never a playoff game. You are a better man than me… I hope she realizes the sacrifice.

They didn’t have Henry. But their offense were structured to run the ball and be a top three rushing team. They have been the last four years. You know what they haven’t had over the last four years? Lamar being a mvp type passer. The reason why the ravens failed the last couple years was not because they couldn’t run the football. It was because Lamar Jackson was not ready as a passer. If you’ve watched him 2022 and then you go watch him now he is by far a much better passer. I think it gets lost over because of how good Derrick Henry is and his running ability but his development as a passer and just two years has been significant.

It's always been my position that QBs need 7 or 8 years to mature, let the game slow down and apply everything they have learned as passers to become the best versions of themselves. So I agree with you that his growth as a passer certainly contributes. I also still believe that Henry's addition has allowed Lamar more opportunities to throw, as defenses have to respect both pairs of legs.

Rams are an inconsistent team and don’t typically score enough points to force the Eagles out of their game plan.  They’ve scored 19 points per game on the road for the season, while the Eagles have given up 17 points per game at home.

They scored 20 against the Eagles in November at their stadium on a fast track.  This time they’ll be out in the elements on the road with some rain and snow in the forecast.  Their defense has played better since losing to the Eagles but that was against the Saints, Niners, Cardinals, and Jets.  The Bills scored 42 on them.

I expect the Eagles to run well against them — probably not 300+ yards this time — but well enough.  The only way the Rams slow the Eagles run game down is to stack the LOS.  If/when they do that, the Eagles passing game will have a great chance to get healthy really quickly.

I was wondering why we hadn’t heard his name in interviews

I would add to this. I don’t think their offense has particularly played well since that Buffalo game. They scored 12 against a banged up niners team. 19 against a bad jets team that gave up points after they fired saleh. 13 vs. the cardinals. Even last week against Minnesota they scored 20 points on offense. They had a defensive touchdown. And really after their scripted plays they only scored 10 points. And I would argue one of their touchdowns right before the half was more because Minnesota went for it on 4th down and gave them a super short field (39 yards). To their credit they converted it for a touchdown in the red zone. But overall they had just 299 yards of offense. Their first 15 scripted plays they had 132 (10 points).  Rest of the game (8 possessions) 167 yards (10 points).
