EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Is anybody else getting tired of seeing the Sean McVay stat that he has not allowed 100 yard rusher in his 12 playoff games.

It’s ridiculous… Sean McVay is an offensive coach… He has nothing to do with that. It was an Aaron Donald stat

They have the 26th rated run defense.  With snow falling, I predict his playoff streak ends today.

Good luck trying to tackle SB in the open field making cuts in the snow.

Also a good day for Hurts to throw quick passes from under center again. Make the defense not know what to do.

Since Jalen Hurts has the chance to tie Nick Foles for the 2nd most playoff wins in franchise history today I figured we would take a look at their numbers since they have both played 6 playoff games to see where they stand.

Foles: 1,633 total yards, 12 total TDs, 5 total turnovers (5 interceptions, 0 fumbles lost), 68.1% completion & 98.8 QB rating.

Hurts: 1,441 total yards, 12 total TDs, 3 total turnovers (2 interceptions, 1 fumble lost), 64.0% completion & 90.7 QB rating.

Not that drastically different.  Only main differences is Foles has 192 more total yards, slightly higher completion percentage and more turnovers.  But you wouldn't think that the way Foles is talked about here and the way Hurts is considered just terrible in every way.

Is it snowing there yet? It’s been snowing in Harrisburg since before 8am although not much is sticking yet.

I think Moore's footsie with Dallas ends in the next couple of days.  Dallas will be hard after Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.  Wouldn't be at all surprised if Jerry announces tomorrow just to steal some thunder from the National Championship game.

Slick field will impact both Dlines and pass rush.  I was thinking we'd get a lot of pressure on Stafford, but now with the weather forecast I'm not so sure.

Nope, not even cold yet, so the snow would likely melt even if it was falling.

Considering Foles did win a super bowl.  That's why he's talked about the way he is. You can't be that dense.  Hopefully Hurts does the same soon.

Will effect edge pressure more than interior pressure, Carter is a mudder and I expect he still causes problems

Part of it is due to injuries on defense but Aaron Glenn called a terrible game. I mean on that McLaurin TD he blitzed Branch leaving McLaurin with practically a walk in TD.  What was the plan with that blitz? He had 2 over trips and even if the screen wasn’t the call, he was leaving a hot read uncovered.  On a 4th and 2, Daniels had an easy first down by rolling out to his right. No one was setting the edge and watching Daniels on the most obvious call that the Commanders would make.  Part of that is talent sure but Glenn was terrible.

Yup, Glenn looked confused all game, I mean sure he was working with a 3rd string D but he still made a lot of horrible calls.

Will have to check it out!

Rams might be down their LT, Alaric Jackson.

He's listed as questionable, but apparently popped back up on the injury report on Friday with a different injury.

Pretty sure Graham dominated him in the first game

No sacks for either team in the 2013 Lions snow game.

Maliata needs to just take a run at this cheap mofo and put him down.

Not surprised at all that it wasnt called, Gofff has the wrong last name,.and predictable tuat it was Luvu cheap shotting a qb again, dudes a dirty player.

Though the league seemed to go out of their way to protect their new golden boy Daniels a couple times.

On an option play he ended up giving the ball to the RB but he continued to carry out like he had the ball and got lit up by the DE, the refs threw the flag, if the qb is going to act like a runner then he should be allowed to be hit.

Im sure the refs/ NFL will say the hit was around the head neck area ,( it wasnt)but at that point hes not a qb hes a runner and should be treated like any other runner, when was the last time a ref threw a flag on a defender for hitting a RB in the chest?

If qbs want to run or fake run the D should be allowed to treat them as any other runner

Maybe premature, but if Hurts wins it all this year do eagle fans stop hating him for at least a year🤔 and does he get a statue?

I don’t think fans hate him, they just expected more from that 250M contract. He is the highest paid game manager in sports.

Foles is credited for 2 game winning drives in the playoffs. Hurts has 0

Hurts almost won a Super Bowl.  In fact he had one of the best performances ever by a QB in the Super Bowl.  This season he has the chance to become the first QB in franchise history to take the Eagles to at least two Super Bowls.
