Absolutely.  But the recent games are also a reminder that any team left in the race can have a bad day and lose to any team left in the race.  There definitely aren’t any "how the heck are we going to beat them” games left though.

Yeah, definitely and when this day is over, if we're still going, Divisional games ALWAYS semi-scare me only because the worst team in a division can beat the best team in a division. So I always pay closer attention to divisional games with regard to ocd rituals...

He lost… so no, he didn’t.

Defense made a play late in the game in the Patriots Super Bowl and didn't late in the game in the Chiefs Super Bowl and that was the difference.

Raiders interviewing the Lions assistant GM and interviewing Ben Johnson in a few days. Feels like they're trying to put on the full court press to get him. Still don't know why he'd choose that job over others though.

Biggest issue with Daniels is he takes some absolutely cartoonish big hits. He's gonna be the next RG3 if that continues with his size.

There are only 2 HC openings where the GM job is also open (Raiders and Jets).

I find the Jerry Jones / Cowboys fiasco to be fascinating, honestly worthy of some level of best selling sports book diving into it.

I've stated multiple times on here (and have taken heat for it) that I harbor no special hatred for that franchise, its fans, or its owner.  So I feel a little less biased about it.

Regardless of what personal feelings you might have about Jones, I believe that he was an outstanding owner.  Forget Deon Sanders, he made that franchise "prime time."  He was a captain of a national championship college football team and became a hands on, GM owner who oversaw 3 SB titles.  For decades, he's been the most powerful owner steering almost every league owner sub-committee.

I know a few former NFL players who describe playing for the Cowboys in those days as a surreal, more premium experience than playing for other teams...largely because of Jerry Jones.  That's why we all hated them so much.

And now...that brash, narcissistic, hands-on, GM owner is starting to lose his marbles, one by one.  He's 82.  This is not a job suited for an 82 year old.  He has become a laughingstock and is driving the franchise into the ground because he won't step away...and what little control he does cede is just going to nepo-staff.

It's been an interesting lifecycle.

I can truly appreciate this entire take and opinion, a very accurate state of things here, although I believe the Cowboys were hated well before he came along, he just added a tanker truck amount of fuel to that fire. Jerry has done some great things for the entire league from a financial perspective no doubt, like you said, as an owner the game has passed him by. He really should allow someone else to run the team.

Are any of the remaining job openings really all that attractive?  I'm sure being able to pair him with the Lions assistant GM would be a selling point.

Coach Prime would make a ton of sense for them (given the primary objective of the franchise).

Yup, Prime is marketing Gold

Since Jalen Hurts has the chance to tie Nick Foles for the 2nd most playoff wins in franchise history today I figured we would take a look at their numbers since they have both played 6 playoff games to see where they stand.

Foles: 1,633 total yards, 12 total TDs, 5 total turnovers (5 interceptions, 0 fumbles lost), 68.1% completion & 98.8 QB rating.

Hurts: 1,441 total yards, 12 total TDs, 3 total turnovers (2 interceptions, 1 fumble lost), 64.0% completion & 90.7 QB rating.

Not that drastically different.  Only main differences is Foles has 192 more total yards, slightly higher completion percentage and more turnovers.  But you wouldn't think that the way Foles is talked about here and the way Hurts is considered just terrible in every way.

"Total yards”

Yeah, let’s break that down into passing and rushing yards…

The talking point is that Brady is a selling point. I'm not sure I really buy it though.

exactly that’s why playing Washington scares me. But they gotta win today first. Forget about Washington and look at the team currently in front of them.

I forgot that when a yard is gained through rushing instead of passing that they adjust it and move the ball back to convert it to just a single foot per single yard.

How often does the QB get knocked out of the game leading to a loss after a yard gained through passing?  Because it happened the last time we played the Commanders after a yard gained through rushing.

The idea that a head coach can get the GM he wants is so backwards. Because the coach would be essentially picking their boss. And then you have a weird dynamic where the GM will feel indebted to the coach for getting him the job, so may not want to fire him if he sucks. The coach should have zero say in the GM. Hire a GM, allow them to pick the coach.

LOL, I am hoping to hear some chants from the Eagle faithful his direction over the broadcast noise...idiot, you don't give that crowd material to fire them up.

When I lived in NoVA I worked with a guy who played in the Redskins band.  This was right in the heat of the Gibbs era.  He brought me to one game every year and had a tailgate down by the river before the games.  Not the prettiest spot in the world but it was real unlike being next to the beltway.  I went to one Eagles game which we won.

Also, I went to a bunch of concerts, e.g. U2/GDead, and to several DC United games.  The stadium wasn't nice but it had soul and charm.  I remember when the fans used to bounce up and down and the entire thing started to rock and shake.  It was also loud.  Not Vet loud but not too far off.  FedEx is horrible.

The girl that my oldest brother married, was actually the founder of the Redskinettes, way back in the day and during the Gibbs era, one of my uncles lived next door to Joe Gibbs. Said he was a really nice guy and good neighbor. Even as an Eagles fan, I liked Gibbs. Landry, too for that matter, from a respect point of view. Both seemed like really good men.

I went to the 82 Divisional game vs. the Vikings and the NFCCG vs. the Cowboys at RFK, also went to a bunch of Diplomats games there and several Cracker Jack Old Timers baseball games (almost got Joe DiMaggio's autograph when a buddy and I ran onto the field after the game). Do they do those old timers games anymore? If not, they ought to. They were really pretty cool, and I'm not a big baseball fan.

When we'd go down to RFK, we'd hop onto the Metro and get off at the stadium/armory station. Really pretty convenient, but like you said, not the best area in the world. Last time I was there was 2004 when I went to D.C. for President Reagan's funeral. A lot of homeless all over the place, and when I got off the Metro at the end of the day, it was near midnight. So not the safest place to have been that late

Playing them has always caused an anxious week for me, but mostly because two of my older brothers were big Redskins fans and I'm 5 and 7 years younger. So you can imagine how THAT was growing up in the 80's with the Redskins winning Super Bowls. They tried their best to get me to turn my back on the Eagles and join the dark side.

I don't dislike hurts.  The problem RTK has.  If the Eagles win and Hurts has a bad stat line he points to the win as if it's all Hurts.  Then if they lose its not his fault if he puts up good numbers.   He contradicts himself .

What you forgot is that the primary function of a QB is to throw the ball.

Which is why you tried to obfuscate their passing performance by adding rushing yards.

Nick Foles got knocked out of a game in his rookie season, his second season, knocked out for the year in his 3rd season and that isn't even touching the times he was knocked out for a game/year for the other teams he played for (Jaguars, Bears & Colts).
