EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

What you forgot is that the primary function of a QB is to throw the ball.

Which is why you tried to obfuscate their passing performance by adding rushing yards.

Sounds like you're stuck in 90s.  Look at every remaining QB in the playoffs with the exception of Stafford.  They are all dual threat QBs.

Nick Foles got knocked out of a game in his rookie season, his second season, knocked out for the year in his 3rd season and that isn't even touching the times he was knocked out for a game/year for the other teams he played for (Jaguars, Bears & Colts).

And that’s why he never stuck as an NFL starting qb.

Sadly, from a player persective, he is the only guy that could possibly turn it around IMO. Is he a diva, sure. Does he like the camera? of course, but he still knows how to get the job done at a high level while doing all of that other sideshow crap and Jerry might, a very small might, leave him alone and let him do the job. Honestly though, if I am a potential head coach, I would run from this job, not walk...run.

I think the Cowboys are the Dan Snyder Commanders.  No matter who comes in, the real problem remains.   Give them a good owner and it will turn around.

Football is a violent sport.  Injuries happen to pocket and mobile QBs alike.  As for why Foles never stuck as a starting QB it's because he lacked any consistency to his game and would wildly swing from stretches of playing great to stretches of playing absolutely awful.

Everyone has the same idea. Sell out to stop Barkley and make Hurts throw the ball. Obvious gameplan

Stacking the box with 8 or 9 guys is going to lose them the game. Yeah, you may stuff Barkley more often. Maybe you force some 3 and outs.

But eventually he’s going to break the second level and then it’s an instant TD. And in the snow where the DL will likely be on skates?

Good luck with that…

I was a tad confused because I didn't remember typing 'Down by the river', but I see it was in the post that I quoted lol. Thought I was losing it for a minute there.

Yeah, they’re DUAL threats.

They are all a threat to throw the ball.

Man the Rams message board is boring AF. They're just talking scheme, matchups, weather and being very practical about everything. Not one comment about firing coaches, conspiracy theories, or calling other posters idiots. What a snooze fest.

Maybe I’ll hop on over there and make fun of everyone, threaten to kidnap them, and talk about butt stuff in great detail.

Very true…it’s not a guaranteed advantage for the Eagles if they don’t hang on to the ball… there will likely be turnovers in this game

They did yeah you are right… But they just handed it to the Lions after winning on the road to Tampa. That’s a good team with a lot of confidence and a QB who is playing without fear.

You can play without fear against a 3rd string defense.

Do we know if it's Burks or Trotter Jr. at LB next to Baun yet?

Apparently Burks was announced as the starter during a pregame walkthrough.  Whatever Fangio decides is good with me!

Yea if it actually snows, especially as much as they're saying, stacking the box is a recipe for disaster. I also feel they're going to feed AJ this game, every time there's some kind of media nonsense about him he goes off, and this would be the perfect game for those quick slants

I think ownership is fine, it's the GM that needs to go...ownership is too committed and is getting in the way, the right GM, and ownership allowing the GM to do the job could...could, resolve a lot of issues. I don't necessarily want a new owner, I want the ownership to hire a good GM, and go island hopping or counting their money...anything but worry about day to day roster and scheme...

Playing them has always caused an anxious week for me, but mostly because two of my older brothers were big Redskins fans and I'm 5 and 7 years younger. So you can imagine how THAT was growing up in the 80's with the Redskins winning Super Bowls. They tried their best to get me to turn my back on the Eagles and join the dark side.

I’m right there with you. Living in Northern VA sucks lol

This is taking forever…

Does this happen at the stadium? I didn't know this was a thing. Clearly the pregame walkthrough does but the announcemen?

My bad...by the way, I enjoyed your recollection of some really cool times/experiences and didn't mean to take away from your post. I think it would be cool if WAS moved the team back to the old location. From what I have read they would just allow them to use the land and not fund a new stadium itself.

Hopefully we are all talking about the Commanders matchup tonight...but I don't want to over-analyze them today of all days...but that loss, even after Hurts left the game, took a series of stacked and unlikely events just for them to beat our backup.  It felt like they needed to hit on a parlay just to win the game.  That's why I thought they would be the best possible wild card matchup, let alone conference championship game.

The wild card in your analysis is that they have been hitting on parlays over and over this season.
