Can we just be happy to be in the nfc championship? After week 4 I thought no way in hell was that possible.

Not only that, we're gonna smash WAS and cruise to the big dance. How wild would it be to be playing in 2 Super Bowls in 3 years.

What is the deal with Jordan Davis’ snaps? Seems like they’ve been phasing him out and only prioritizing him on running downs lately. Played 17 out of 71 snaps yesterday. What has been his average snap count on the season?

Run downs only.   And that's pretty much been his use all year.

I don't think it's the case of he's that bad. I think it's more of Williams and Ojomo are making more and more plays and it's harder to justify taking them off the field. Put the guys on the field who are making game changing plays. Right now, That's not Jordan Davis.

I guess if the defense stays the same, Davis will not be extended. He just doesn’t do enough compared to the others to justify a "big” extension. Wouldn’t say bust, but definitely a disappointment.

They have been phasing him out, ever since the bye week. He was around 50 the first 4 games and then dropped each week. The only games he had an increase in snaps was Pittsburgh which was a blowout and vs NYG which was a meaningless game he played into the 4th.

Last week the only players with less snaps was Huff and Rodgers who filled in for Slay on a few plays. This week the only players with less snaps was someone that got injured early and CB4.

I’d rather us all be supporting Jalen so he’s locked in for this big game that he usually shines in. 1 win and we in SB. This is what we all wanted.

I love to belabor a point, but that Hurts safety can’t be emphasized enough. It showed a lack of understanding the situation presnap (dropping back to your goal line and needing to know where checkdowns/hots are in case of pressure) and then post-snap to get through the read and have any semblance of an internal clock.

People want to blame Moore for throwing there, but a professional QB needs to come out of that play with a positive play. Goedert was open for a big play. Barkley could have gotten the ball 1 on 1 with a chance for a first down.

I am upset with both Moore and Hurts for that one.  If Hurts can't do what you are suggesting, and frankly, he's not been good at that throughout his career... then the OC has to protect him from being in that situation and screwing up like he did.

The Philadelphia Eagles are a Smitty dropped pass from being 15-0 since the Bye Week.  This team has been unbelievable this year.

I don't think Jalen reads the boards. It's OK to discuss the deficiencies in his game here.

I was thinking the same thing. I just don’t get it. Is he really that "bad” or out of shape to only play 17 snaps in a playoff game?

No.  That's his role.  He's not a pass rusher.  He's a '2-down' NT.  That's it.

Matt Stafford went 24-44 for 324 and 2 TDs. Why are we grading on a curve for Hurts playing in the same conditions?

Stafford's the best QB in the conference and played an A+ game outside of the fumble. I don't get your point, is anyone claiming Hurts is as good as him? Josh Allen put up very pedestrian numbers in poor conditions. I'm not sure some people realize how hard it is to catch and throw something that's covered in a thin layer of ice. That the Rams did as well as they did is a testament to how good they are. Nobody should've expected us to keep pace with their passing game, that's not our strength. Not to mention that they had no choice but to start passing almost exclusively later in the game due to the game script. Receivers were dropping balls like crazy in both games and look at the number of fumbles from all four teams.

So we count Eagles drops, but don't count Rams drops?   🤔.

The Eagles had opportunities to blow the Rams out... but for a variety of reasons they didn't... bad sacks taking the team out of FG range twice (-6 points), a safety (+2), missed opportunities at the goal line (-4 points), missed PATs (-2 points)... the Eagles gave away about 14 points... and somehow still managed to win.  They need to figure it out and not leave the points on the field next week.    And I'll say that the vast majority of these missed opportunities were not weather related.

We ignored the running game when we hit the edge of the red zone, and missed FG opportunities with bad sacks.  We ignored the running game one 2nd down backed up, even though they'd gotten good yards on first down with a run.  Missed PATs, one in bad weather (maybe weather related), but the first one the weather was 'fine'.  And the flinch by Johnson on the Tush Push aside, they should have gotten into the end zone before 4th down.  Why run from shotgun at the goal line so much?!?!

Some of this is on Moore (hard to believe with a 200 yard rusher that they ignored the running game, but they did.. Barkley had 26 carries, but Gainwell had only 1!)  And this is what you signed Barkley for... for these games.  Ride him.  Or trust Gainwell and the OL to give good enough results to keep the running game going.

I didn’t include "the drops” in Hurts stats; merely mentioned them in parenthesis.  Obviously Stafford dealt with some drops as well.

That said, Hurts had 9 less completions than Stafford in 24 less pass attempts.

The point is that I would prefer pass accuracy over pass volume, given the blizzard like weather conditions.  Especially with a spectacular running game. Wouldn’t you?

As far as the rest of your post, we’re mostly in agreement -  no need to debate over specifics because there were far too many to mention, imo.

🤔.

Hey Jalen, get off the EMB and get to work on your rehab and film study for this week.

And since you seem to like to use criticism to shut up your detractors... raise your game.   Shut everyone up.  You don't have to throw for 300 yards... just take care of the ball... hit the easy passes and don't take the sacks.

You mentioned the drops for one, but not the other.  Sort of disingenuous.  Either mention them for both, or ignore them for both.

Hurts didn't exactly have 'pass accuracy' either.  Some of the drops were due to the ball being in a bad spot and the WR having to adjust to it, which is much harder to do with poor footing.  A completed pass isn't always an 'accurate' pass.  Just sayin'.

Safety was terrible.  The call was good because Goedert was open immediately.  Gotta throw that.  No qualms from me with people banging that drum.  But we should have been up by 3 TDs at that point.

I just don’t like calling a 5 step drop into your own endzone ever in that situation - the snow made it that much worse.  (Any sort of slip or bad snap results in a safety)

Run the ball - get a few more yards so that even a 5 step drop isn’t in your own endzone during blizzard like conditions.  That’s all.

Maybe it’s just me but I absolutely consider a safety a turnover

That's fair. I'll amend it to say he protected it enough to not lose the turnover battle. Which has been a major issue for him in the past.

I was surprised at how many people declared it "game over" when the Eagles went up 13 with 4:45 left and Rams having 3 timeouts. Of course it was highly probable the Eagles would win, but usually people wait til there's like 2 minutes left to declare it game over. I saw so many people like "AND THE EAGLES ARE GOING TO THE NFCCG"

Listening to Merrill, I couldn't believe him saying THIS GAME IS OVER. For a guy who's called three separate Miracle at the Meadowlands games and has witnessed countless games where the Eagles give up leads, he needed to just shut up.

Reminder that if the awful Panthers don’t beat the Saints in a last second field goal in New Orleans in 2022 in the last game of the season, the Eagles probably don’t have Jalen Carter right now.

If Mrs. Roseman didn't get drunk that night 50 years ago, we probably don't have Jalen Carter right now.

I guess I expected Dotson to be all by himself when Kempski first mentioned it. Maybe Hurts thought the safety could break on the ball?

It's a terrible route by Dotson. Ran straight into the S. Hurts still should have thrown it, but plays like this are why he doesn't get the ball

Going to have to defend all 4 downs this week. Must keep them behind schedule with incompletions and limited gains on 1st and 2nd downs.

I don't disagree,  but he had what they wanted with a clean pocket.  He has to make that throw to Goedert.   The pocket collapsed a moment later due to Jergens wiff,  but the play call worked.

Matt Stafford threw 3 picks that got dropped, had a costly lost fumble, took a bunch of sacks on stunts too.

And he was healthy, except for a rib shot.

But Jalen sucks.

Key to me will be keeping Daniels from 10+ yard scrambles on those 2nd/3rd and long.  Without them the Commanders drives will stall.  He is just so good at extending drives, often multiple times on the same drive.
