If Mrs. Roseman didn't get drunk that night 46 years ago, we probably don't have Jalen Carter right now.

Can also thank the bears for being the bears. They passed on mahomes. They passed on Daniels. They traded the pick to the eagles so we could select Carter instead of just taking Carter.

Matt Stafford threw 3 picks that got dropped, had a costly lost fumble, took a bunch of sacks on stunts too.

And he was healthy, except for a rib shot.

But Jalen sucks.

Uhh...not everything is binary.

And Jalen doesn't suck.  He's limited as a passer.  Some by his own traits and some by the conservative nature of this team.

He has played better.  He can lead us to a championship.  But his is not playing well lately.

Jalen has been awful, yes.

I wonder what changed for Jalen right before halftime that would make him a worse player?

Listening to Merrill, I couldn't believe him saying THIS GAME IS OVER. For a guy who's called three separate Miracle at the Meadowlands games and has witnessed countless games where the Eagles give up leads, he needed to just shut up.

The broadcast was saying the same thing. And the defense looked to believe it since the rams marched right down the field and the defense barley got in their stance. They should not have allowed that last TD to make it closer.

I get that, but when you see "given the conditions" time and time again, it's already a built in excuse to expect less. Why should our expectations for Hurts be so low? I want him to be great. He's shown he can be great. I don't like this kind of QB play. I don't like taking absolutely terrible sacks. It's not a new thing. How many games have there been where Hurts slides in to a sack. Just get rid of the ball. Throw it away...better yet, throw it to the guys who are wide open that we all can see.

I don't want to settle for a game manager at QB. I don't want to have a $250 million QB where the bar we've set is just don't turn the ball over.

If just don't turn the ball over is the expectation, trade Hurts, save money and put in Tanner McKee. Tanner, just don't turn the ball over. Let's use the $250 million on Baun, Williams, Becton, Sweat and extensions for Jurgens, Blankenship etc.

Sorry, I'm not ranting at you, I'm just voicing what I want from a QB. What we are getting out of Jalen Hurts is not what I and many others want. I doubt it's what Lurie and Howie want either.

I never said anything about "given the conditions".  You WANT him to be a certain kind of player but he simply isn't.

There will be an opportunity to jettison Hurts at the end of next year.  In the meantime, let's go with what we got.  We can absolutely win two more games like this but if one does turn into a shootout then we will see what more he can do as we will be forced to.

If Howie could bring back hargrave on a cheap deal I think having him next to Carter would be insane next season.

I would love to see them get 1 or 2 solid edge rushers and another d lineman that's a monster to go to next to Carter

He doesn't turn the ball over because he won't turn the ball over.  The Eagles don't throw for first down yardage on third and long...ever.  They don't get the ball out quickly to hot reads against the blitz.  They don't throw into WR breaks before they are open.  Hurts just takes sacks on these plays.

It's nearly impossible to throw INTs when that is how the passing offense is run.

That's a bit of an exaggeration BUT in any case that is the plan.

I wasn't directing that at you, just happened to use your quote to go on a bit. Yes, I want him to be a player he's shown that he can be. Then again, maybe 2022 was fools gold. Maybe THIS is who he is.

If that’s what we are asking then Hurts needs to be paid 80% less than he is.

We've been thru this discussion he isn't causing any cap issues this year or next (very low) after which he can be traded or let go with a relatively acceptable cap hit.

The packers were not the hottest team. Hadn't they lost 2 in a row including one to the bears?

Joke, but everyone they have faced was hyped up as a hot team that would be hard to beat.

You are sharing team stats.

Jalen first half...

9/12, 66 yards with 4 sacks for 41 yards.  Two of which took us out of FG range.

Jalen second half...

6/8, 62 yards with 3 sacks for 22 yards.  One of which led to a safety.

He played the same all game.

They shouldn't wait on a plan B if one falls in the draft. Not sure there is in this one, though.

We were reallY fortunate gainwell was there to recover the fumble just before the end of the half. That could’ve been disastrous if the rams scooped it up and returned it.

frankly we had excellent bounces yesterday. Ball perfectly rolling to Rodgers on that Williams fumble. Reminded me of how the ball Graham stripped from Brady bounces right into the hands of Barnett

I love to belabor a point, but that Hurts safety can’t be emphasized enough. It showed a lack of understanding the situation presnap (dropping back to your goal line and needing to know where checkdowns/hots are in case of pressure) and then post-snap to get through the read and have any semblance of an internal clock.

People want to blame Moore for throwing there, but a professional QB needs to come out of that play with a positive play. Goedert was open for a big play. Barkley could have gotten the ball 1 on 1 with a chance for a first down.

100% agree.  That was a really really bad play.  Hurts had three or four like that back in the pocket.  The sack at the end of the game was on Moore.  Never should be calling that sort of play with the banged up knee and in the snow.

That's fair. I'll amend it to say he protected it enough to not lose the turnover battle. Which has been a major issue for him in the past.

I was really just using that as a jumping off point for my post than trying to spin some Hurts debate. I have seen/heard the "no turnover" phrase a lot, even from beats, and was surprised more don't consider it a turnover.

The one caveat is we are usually ahead.  We have not had to come from behind that much.  That will put more pressure on Hurts but hopefully he responds.  When we need a touchdown, he seems to play better for some reason.

I wonder why the Rams were still able to play almost as effectively?🤔

Problem is the DE FA pool isn’t great. And I don’t think we’re matching what others will pay Milton

Re-sign Sweat, cut Huff, bring in Koonce, draft a DE in the 1st or 2nd

Carter Davis Hargrave Ojomo

Nolan Koonce Sweat Hunt Rookie

edit: looking at that lineup we might as well keep Huff

I was born and raised in Annapolis. I started watching football between the colts and ravens. It was eagles or skins and I can't stand the skins. So while I love my eagles the Ravens are the team most of family roots for. I was rooting for my mom to be happy. And one of my sons

I used to live in Annapolis. I hate the Ravens because they'd be on tv instead

They lost though. So it wasn’t effective.
