If Howie could bring back hargrave on a cheap deal I think having him next to Carter would be insane next season.

I would love to see them get 1 or 2 solid edge rushers and another d lineman that's a monster to go to next to Carter

Just keep Williams.

The take was stupid though. He's done nothing selfish. Reading a book isn't selfish. Not sure how it got equated to bad etiquette, but people need to get over it already.

Yea nothing at all wrong about that pass.  He put it right on him.  That’s pretty much a ball that’s caught by any receiver 99% of the time, excluding the elements as a factor.

I seem to be more in the middle with my feelings about Hurts, but pointing to this play as a defense in the argument against Hurts doesn’t work.

Designed plays to go deep pre-snap. 8 in the box on 1st in and 10.

1 on 1 opportunity with a vertical element. Let it rip.

Jalen is an elite deep ball thrower. If you don't want him reading/taking sacks, let him chuck the ball.

So what is your point?  You showed plays where they actually did let him chuck the ball.

I was suggesting that maybe they called more, but Hurts didn't like what he saw.

Stafford was pretty excellent yesterday.  Hurts wasn't even just ok.

I'm watching the game again now.  I'll post about what I see with Hurts and a bit on Stafford

1st quarter - He was very solid in the 1st quarter.  Had the long run, four or five nice short passes, and put a long ball right on the numbers to Smith who couldn't hold on with the big hit.  The lone sack was 100% on the OL.  Lane slipped and the entire pocket collapsed on him with nowhere to go.  Stafford was well short on his deep ball but the Ram WR made a great play and stole the ball from Rodgers.

There are going to be several bad plays for Hurts as the game proceeds but none in the 1st quarter.

Both Saquon long TDs were plays that were Hurts' audibles.

I think the best part of Carter’s game throughout his first two seasons so far has been the growth of his football IQ and it seems to only be getting better. From a pure talent and raw skill perspective, he was considered the best player coming out in 2023 so I’m not surprised by that. But I was not aware of how smart of a player he is.

Brown is paid to catch and hold onto those throws. It was a F up by him

They need to do this WAY more often. That's my issue. 2 deep throws today + 1 last week is far too low given our personnel. It needs to be at least one a quarter.

It's a perfect throw considering where the CB and S are.  There's plenty to criticize Hurts about yesterday, but criticizing this play is flat-out trolling.

This one is 100% on our stud $30m/yr WR1.

Feels spot on by Ray.

Stafford allows for those opportunities. That's why the plays are made.  And his skill also has something to do with that.

Better ball to AJ probably results in a TD pass for Hurts,  but we got what we got.

Stafford is one of my favorite quarterbacks to watch and there’s a reason why the younger crop of guys coming up now like Caleb Williams say they idolize his game. He’s as tough as they come and had me scared crapless on that final drive.

Doubt it. They're winning and so nothing will change

The Lions will likely lose both coordinators.

Hiring their successors will be a decent process comparison to our situation two years ago.

My younger brother (who I mentioned doesn't watch a lot of NFL football) was appalled at how poor the DET defense was, and how every time they showed Aaron Glenn on the sidelines he looked like he had no answers at all (I concurred with that).

When I told him Glenn was getting head coaching interviews he said "What?!  I assumed he'd be getting fired this week!"  LOL

His IQ is off the charts

That was actually one of the play calls that I absolutely loved by Kellen Moore. Because you were gonna be 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 after that play if it didn’t work. So the time to take the deep shot was there because it gave you two other plays after that just to pick up the first down if it didn’t work.

To put things in perspective here. Team scored 28 points with all kinds of crap going on. Just about everything going against them. Still win. Faced the best defensive line they are going to face and probably  a one off for our massive offensive line. As long as Hurts is semi mobile I have no worries here.

Yeah but instead of having perspective, wouldn't it be more fun to hate-watch your favorite team play in a second super bowl in 3 years because you don't like the QB?

Yeah he's clearly #1 and it's not close

For the next 3 seasons?

He's at 435 touches this year. I can't see him keeping that pace and being effective in his 28. 29 and 30 year old seasons.

Even if you cut his touches down to 350 a year, I still think he's #1 and (barring injury of course) can still play at a high level for the next 3 seasons.

When I saw the first play of the game was a quick half-roll, deliver the ball quickly to Goedert I was encouraged.  That didn't last long.  That play needs to be a staple of the offense; just vary the look and the target, but the play is easy and it works.

I said it last night -- there was absolutely no excuse for Hurts to be holding the ball so long considering the DL he was up against.  IMO, Hurts is becoming a little bit more dysfunctional each week.  He's riding in on fumes, figuratively and literally.

Ryan Leaf already picked the Commanders to win this Sunday, which made me feel better because he's an idiot.

We desperately need Kellen Moron to get his head out of his ass.

Maybe now that he's gotten all his interviews out of the way, he can do his Fing job and actually put together a cohesive gameplan.

I understand that we need to lean on Saquon and the run game, but we have to dial up some quick slants and more deep shots this weekend.

Becton was real bad in pass protection. At least 2 sacks were on him.

This is why I'm ok letting Becton go instead of giving him a massive contract.  He's a beast in the run game but mediocre as a pass-protector.  If we're going to break the bank we need him to dominate in both.

I feel bad for Washington, they're not gonna have a fun time with this dude next week.

Tbh I rather the Eagles choose baun and Milton Williams over becton. I prefer all three to come back, but if you’re asking me two of the three to retain, it would be those two. First we have Jeff Stoutland. I trust that Jeff Stoutland is going to find an adequate replacement for him and coach up whoever it is. Secondly, we drafted steen in the third round. I don’t think steen was just drafted in the third round to be a back up. Jeff stoutland obviously saw something in him and believed he could be a starter. It’s going to be his third year. That is when Isaac seumalo kind of took over and found his stride. Also when Steen has been called into duty, I think he’s been fine. Third, i don’t think we remotely have the adequate replacement for baun and Williams is just scratching his potential as a dynamic pass rusher.
