Things that went wrong in the last meeting vs. the Redskins:

1. Hurts getting hurt (and make no mistake, Luvu absolutely tried to hurt him when Hurts was already down)

2. CJGJ - Getting tossed for using bad words

3. Multiple penalties called against the Eagles for roughing that were just ridiculous

4. Pickett having to come in cold, no practice and trying to hold down the fort

5. All this, and the Devonta drop - If he holds on to that catch, even with all of that crap above, the Eagles still win this game.

Washington acted like they won the Super Bowl, they talked all kinds of crap.....I honestly so wanted them in the opening round and was disappointed we had to play Green Bay.  Well, it time for the reckoning.....I want a Curb Stomping of the Commanders.  Like 38-10 where the game is never in doubt.  Add in, having Malaita take a running 20 yard head start and put his helmet into Luvu's back for good measure.

Yep.  It took all of that for them to barely lose.

The throw to Smitty last week wasn't a rainbow.  The throw to AJ was like 40 yards and perfect.

You're one of these fans who is obsessed with the aesthetics when there's really been no need to make contested throws at all, and the Eagles just keep winning and winning

If you think his arm strength has been fine, we are not going to see eye to eye.

Hunt has been really good, no doubt a better option.  But there is still room for more help and rest in there.

He clearly sucks, is hurt, or maybe both. They’re about to play their 20th game this season. It’s pretty clear the coaches don’t trust him

When was the last time he made a throw on a line, not a rainbow, that traveled more than 10 yards...

Next question...

Why is this monumental? He's a great coach, this is expected.

He used to play for the Jets

Yet you can't name a single throw where his lack of arm strength has been a problem

I'm going to disagree with your characterization of the way the Eagles used the running game.  The Eagles running game is very much like a heavyweight boxing match.  You could say that the fight swings on landing that one heavy punch at the end of the 10th round that causes the knock out, but the truth is that all the body blows leading up to it are ultimately what caused it.

Barkley had 26 carries for 206... (and he had the psychological effect of 255 from their previous meeting).   The Rams' fear of Barkley is what primarily caused the huge run by Hurts.  The Eagles rightly anticipated that all eyes would be on Barkley early and they got the Rams overcommitted to him, and Hurts sprung free for a long gain.

But, the running game remained effective.  It's not one that we'd all be talking about if not for those long runs, but those 24 carries were body blows where big people beat up little people helping to spring the long runs.  That's just how this offense works.  It's bully ball.  So, to discount those runs that actually create the long ones is just disingenuous.  It wasn't a question of IF they'd get a long run, it was always a question of WHEN they'd get a long run, and how many.  The answer is: 3.  Two early, one late.

Now, the passing game, on the other hand, was dismal.  No getting around that.  BUT, the running game, as its been pretty much all year, along with the defense are good enough to keep the game in reach, and/or keep the opponent at arm's reach.

Oh, I think they used it just fine. They've shown the entire year that if they keep grinding, Saquon is going to break one.

What I do want to see from the running game is switching up the play calls. It was pretty frustrating watching the 2nd half. Pistol formation, Saquon up the middle. There was little to no variation. They also failed to mix in Kenny Gainwell and as one of his biggest critics in here, he could have helped.

I meant my post to that the Eagles beat the Rams despite playing a C+ game. I don't think we should expect them to play at that level again. They are better than what we saw and I think this week they can roll over the Skins. Contain Jayden Daniels and it shouldn't be close if we're being honest.

This team needs to TACKLE this week.

I also didn't see anyone mention that Trotter got 0 defensive snaps.  Really surprised but Burks played well.

If Stafford and McVay couldnt take advantage of that, I don't think the Commanders will be able to.

I know, just thought the wording was odd. Great hire for the Jets when all is said and done. Be interesting to see how the Lions address both OC and DC now.

Burks played very well. He's going to be tested this week. Both he and Baun need to stay disciplined in containing Daniels and wrap when you get a chance. Nakobe Dean had that incredible tackle on him early in the year. They've got to play like that.

Oh come on…every D1 qb has the arm for that throw.

It's not odd when you consider it's also about it being a monumental day for him, not just the Jets hiring a former player to be their coach for the first time.

So when you asked for a pass that was not a rainbow and traveled more than 10 yards, a 30+ yard rope from a week ago somehow doesnt count because it makes you feel sad.

Let's be honest about the Rams game. The Eagles beat a good Rams team who outside of 3 big TD runs, kind of shut the Eagles down. The Eagles lived by the big play on offense, and clutch plays on defense.

On offense, they gave up 7 sacks, went 0-2 in the RZ, missed 2 XP and gave up a safety. 4 points given away by the offense.

They ran 63 plays.

-3 TD runs totaled 184 yards.

-the other 60 plays netted162 yards, averaging 2.7 yards per play.

-Saquon also only averaged 2.7 ypc on the non TD runs. 24 carries for 65 yards.

On defense, they were outgained by the Rams by 50 yards, gave up 300 yards passing, 100 yards rushing and nearly a 100 yard WR. However, the Eagles forced 2 fumbles and made the big plays when it mattered.

I'd say overall, the Eagles played a C+ game in crappy weather and still came away with the win.

The Redskins are not as good as the Rams. The field and weather will be night and day compared to the Rams game. If Jalen Hurts is good to go and the Eagles play just B level football, they should have no problem winning this game.

That’s the scary part for Washington.  Other than the long TD gallops the Rams did what they set out to do against the run, but they still got burned in the totality of the matchup.  Washington is 28th in the NFL in yards per carry against.

They’ll have to pick their poison — stack the box and allow long TD runs, or play two-high safety and have the Eagles march and burn clock

I think Hurts’ arm strength is satisfactory. The issue is, and always has been, his processing abilities or lack there of. It’s one read and then run or freeze.

I heard that too but I think he was just being optimistic and didn't want to ruin the moment. Rehabbing a triceps tear at his age takes 4-6 months, virtually no chance he can come back after just 2 and have the needed strength in that arm.

Eagles were having their way with the run game against the last game too. Knock Luvu in the mouth, and dominate the LOS.

Its a combination of a bad arm and that he can not throw to an area with anticipation.  They guy has to get open first and then he sees the play.

Oh come on, you get the point.  On that throw, even at the time, I give him plenty of credit for taking the time the OL gave him and hitting Dotson, who was not his first read, probably not his second.

But he took two steps into the throw and it was hardly a laser.  If we are having a discussion that his arm strength is an issue and THAT is exhibit A to contradict it, out of every throw he's made in the playoffs...then I'm unconvinced.  There is no QB currently collecting an NFL paycheck that cannot step into that throw.

I can’t remember who said it, but Big12 open.

I don't watch college but I assume that means really open.

I don’t think that’s necessarily it. Not saying he’s great at it. More so just if read one is covered his first instinct is scramble. There were so many times on Sunday when he had an easy dump off to a check down and instead took a sack.
