TE talk…

Elijah Arroyo from Miami really sounds like an excellent prospect.  They referred to him as a better version of Grant Calcaterra.  Better especially in attitude.  He probably will go in Day Two. As will Gunnar Helm from Texas, who also came across in their analyses as a natural Eagle.

McCoy wasnt really known for his break away speed. It was his insane agility/shiftiness/quickness in small areas and ability to cut on a dime

Right, I seem to remember him having the ability to set-up ridiculous cut backs in small open spaces.

Sure but Slay would have the fewest INT’s of any real full time CB in the HoF. He’s certainly not the best lockdown CB ever.

Darrelle Revis was a true lockdown corner and he still has 3 more career INTs than Slay

Understood and agreed.  Individual players will have individual stats, but as a general rule the point still stands.

That is freaking cool. Saquon looks ridiculously faster than Shady though. Maybe players in general are just faster across the board now.

That was much deeper snow.

Another interesting post from him

They need to give him the 2004 Michael Vick treatment.  The Eagles flipped Derrick Burgess and Jevon Kearse for that game, and it was the job of Burgess to make sure Vick didn't get out to his left.  Smith will need to keep contain on Daniels right. And NO ONE can get deeper than Daniels during their pass rush.  This pass rush should be a boa constrictor and just tighten the space he has... lots of discipline and bull rushes.

If Eli can be in the hall then Slay can too.

That's horrible reasoning.  If one guy that doesn't belong gets is, just open the flood gates and let everyone in.

Mush rush. Joe Gibbs beat Buddy with that. Time to repay the favor.

Buddy's last game as he was fired directly thereafter.

Helm is a good prospect

what do you think about the Bowling Green kid?

It is rather beautiful

Watch Moore come out and shock everyone by having Hurts throw 50 times. 😆

I sense a few qb draws in the first half to try and slow down their DL

Even if he is hobbled I definitely feel Hurts needs to run a few times early to keep Wash honest.  In fact, even more important if he is hobbled.

I think Daniels is a better passer than Vick was at that point, and even Cunningham, even though Daniels is only a rookie.   That said, when the pocket is collapsing around him and he doesn't have the ability to step into throws and feel comfortable, how effective will he be?  The one thing that we just can't let him do is beat them with the off script stuff.  Personally, I think Fangio has the ability to come up with a game plan to shut down the Washingteam's game plan, but its much harder to beat their scheme AND the improvisation.  One other factor I'd like to see for this game is what we saw from Brian Dawkins in that game.  Lay the wood on a couple guys and make them reconsider their plans for the day.

Neither one of these guys were a real factor in the game after these hits.   Granted, it was much colder that day than it will be on Sunday... but the message could still be sent.  Daniels is so rail thin, he might break in two if he's hit like that by someone.

Darius Slay is in the Hall of Very Good. No shame in that.

He should be on the ballot, but not get in.

Their pass rush isn't what the Rams brought.  But, this game really needs to swing on the running game... again.

Even though they were stacking the box all day against the Eagles, Saquon still managed 150 yards in the second matchup.  Granted, he got a pretty good headstart with the early run... but they can be run on.   Saquon put 146 on them in the first matchup.  And quite frankly, I think the OL has something to prove to the world after they were denied the season rushing record.   The regular season/playoff record is just under 150 yards away... I think the Eagles' OL wants to secure that one this week.

And then just add the exclamation point and go for the playoff only record in 2 weeks.   But, this game will fall squarely on the OL, Saquon and the defense.

Agreed.  Randall had a gun but Gibbs exposed his passing issues that day.  Much like Hurts, Randall was much better passing against man coverage and not so good at attacking a zone with timing patterns.  Daniels can do all of it.

We won't stop him totally so the key is to slow him down, get a few hits in when we get the chance, and make a couple of key stops in the red zone and/or on 4th down.  Do that and we can hold them to around 20 and win the game by grinding them just as we ground down the Packers and Rams.

Against the Pack it was slow Jacobs and don't lose the turnover battle.  Against the Rams it was slow the WRs and don't lose the turnover battle.  With the Commanders it is slow Daniels and don't lose the turnover battle.  Grind our way to N'Orleans.

Possibly a huge part in Daniel's escaping so much in our second matchup was Nolan Smith playing.  Graham was seeing that edge in game 1. Smith was selling out on speed rushes.

Hopefully he has learned.

And be prepared EVERY possession for 4th down.  They are going to go for 4th downs A LOT in this game if they are even marginally close.  4th and 4 at mid-field?  Likely a go for it situation.  4th and 1 on their own 39?  Might be a go for it situation.    The D can't lose their edge or expect to get off the field after a 3rd down stop.  They have to be prepared to get a stop on 4th down too... and if they punt... so be it.   Personally, I'm not sure that I'd take the defense off the field for ANY 4th down unless its 4th and 10+.   Other than that, stick with a punt return 'safe' mode with the defense on the field.  I'm far less concerned with getting a good punt return than I am with making sure they don't steal an extra possession with a fake punt.   We've been burned by that this year already.  I'm sure Washington noticed.

Yeah, he cannot get past the QB nor go too hard inside on his rushes.  Daniels goes right all the time.

Any inside move for a DE has to be coordinated with either the DT to loop around, OR be part of a blitz with Baun or DeJean coming off the edge.

I think Daniels is being way overrated. I’m not saying he isn’t good but this isn’t prime Peyton Manning as a passer. Make sure he doesn’t run for 50 first downs and they should be fine. This ain’t Detroits defense in a dome. Hold them to 20ish like the Bucs did and the Eagles cruise.
