Newest Eagles fan came this morning at 4am…I’m tired AF.  I’ll make sure to post some photos this weekend of her in her baby Eagles gear!  Despite my sleep deprived wishes, she is not named Saquon and

Just don't see the Eagles winning many of the awards - there's a TON of anti-Eagles bias across the national media.  Everything is always "well they're just SO TALENTED top to bottom that they SHOULD win".  It's 100% held against them that Howie put together an amazing team.

I realize this post was in jest, but people are too scared of next year's schedule.

The NFC North was overrated all year thanks to playing the NFC West and AFC South -- there's a reason they went 0-3 in the playoffs. The Packers didn't beat anyone good (the Rams were without Nacua and Kupp) other than the Texans (who weren't great), and the Vikings only good wins were against the Packers and Texans. I think Detroit takes a large step back as Campbell is exposed as a clown without his coordinators. The AFC West -- yeah, the Chiefs and Chargers will be tough. I think Denver way outperformed this year and will regress (I also maintain Payton is a massively overrated coach), and the Raiders are the Raiders. The Bills are a tough draw, and the Rams and Bucs are decent but not terrifying.

We basically traded the AFC North for the West, which is a wash or frankly slightly easier in 2025. We traded the NFC South for the NFC North, which is harder but somewhat deceiving (and we only went 2-2 against the South this year). The Bucs instead of the Packers is a wash and we get the Rams again, but the Bills is a much tougher game than the Jags. Really, one game got much harder, and the NFC North is slightly better than the NFC South.

There's also factors like when is our bye week relative to other teams.  How many times are the Eagles playing on a short week. How many times are the Eagles playing a team after that team's bye.  How many road games in a row.  When in the season are we playing the tough games. Is the team playing the Chiefs, Bills and Commanders in back to back weeks.

Barkley should be MVP

VERY.

Last game, if I'm not mistaken, they scored 3 TDs after CJGJ was ejected.

-Jalen Carter is a different Jalen Carter than he was last game. His game has hit another level. He's the best player on the field. He's the best defensive player left in the playoffs and DPOY. He was playing great football before, but what we're seeing from him now is unreal. He's going against a backup RG now.

-Nolan Smith has stepped his game up. Like Carter, he is not the same player he was the last game.

What's important is they play smart, aggressive football and don't lose contain.

Yeah they scored 3 TDs after CJGJ left, but still scored 2 while he was in there.

I'm sure Washington will give their backup help against Carter so hopefully that frees others.

I just don't want them to let Daniels kill them with his legs on critical 3rd/4th down plays.

They need to give him the 2004 Michael Vick treatment.  The Eagles flipped Derrick Burgess and Jevon Kearse for that game, and it was the job of Burgess to make sure Vick didn't get out to his left.  Smith will need to keep contain on Daniels right. And NO ONE can get deeper than Daniels during their pass rush.  This pass rush should be a boa constrictor and just tighten the space he has... lots of discipline and bull rushes.

You and Seth Joyner line up very well in your assessments.

Helm is a good prospect

what do you think about the Bowling Green kid?

I wouldn’t be at all upset if we took him, BUT I do see Edge as a much more important place to be focusing on in the 1st and 2nd rounds.  He won’t last until the 3rd round.

I think they are all correct. Stop his legs and the Birds win.

How confident are you that our defense will be able to slow down/contain Daniels and Washington's offense?  They put up 36 on us last time and they've been lighting it up.  That, and at times it seems teams can cut through our D with relative ease.

They scored 18 the first game and they scored 23 last week against a less talented bucs defense.

Saquon is up for OPOY too right?  If anything I see him winning that.  I'm sure they'll give ACOY to one of the Lions coaches

You're probably right but it should be Vic. He just took what was not even an NFL caliber defense at the end of the year and transformed it into the best unit in the league. Insane

Vangio should be a no brainer.  Took one of the worst performing defenses from last season and made them the best defense in the NFL (or among the best).

Having both our 1st and 2nd round picks being nominated for defensive rookies of the year is a huge win regardless of outcome, imo.

Barkley being the 1st running back to be seriously considered for MVP (in years) is also a win, regardless of outcome.

I think Zack Baun has a serious chance at it - although he's going up against much better known names.

I'm curious what the Eagles plan is with Britain Covey. He's only played in two games since the Saints game. Being on just punt return mitigates some of the risk but that's still a long layoff to throw a guy out there for the NFCCG.

Well, we really need a punt returner and him being out there also keeps a stand out defensive player (DeJean) from needing to punt return (additional risk injury, etc)....so it makes sense, imo.

Their plan is to put him at punt returner

I wouldn't read too much into that.  The Cowboys already know Moore well from the 4 seasons he spent there.

That to me, just looks like an inside move by Smith, not a stunt. Carter's initial move was to the A gap.

But, I think he responded when he saw Smith move inside to cover the edge.  Maybe I am missing reading it, but he didn't leave the edge unattended when Smith went inside.  He flipped responsibilities and even started to get depth for an outlet pass.   Heads up play by Carter, IMO.

Their pass rush isn't what the Rams brought.  But, this game really needs to swing on the running game... again.

Even though they were stacking the box all day against the Eagles, Saquon still managed 150 yards in the second matchup.  Granted, he got a pretty good headstart with the early run... but they can be run on.   Saquon put 146 on them in the first matchup.  And quite frankly, I think the OL has something to prove to the world after they were denied the season rushing record.   The regular season/playoff record is just under 150 yards away... I think the Eagles' OL wants to secure that one this week.

And then just add the exclamation point and go for the playoff only record in 2 weeks.   But, this game will fall squarely on the OL, Saquon and the defense.

Right, but not sure I'd call that a stunt, that's just pursuit to the QB after Smith beats his man and can see Love's about to be drifting out of the pocket.

Nope.  Just a gif from Remember the Titans.  "Leave no doubt."  Nothing important.

And be prepared EVERY possession for 4th down.  They are going to go for 4th downs A LOT in this game if they are even marginally close.  4th and 4 at mid-field?  Likely a go for it situation.  4th and 1 on their own 39?  Might be a go for it situation.    The D can't lose their edge or expect to get off the field after a 3rd down stop.  They have to be prepared to get a stop on 4th down too... and if they punt... so be it.   Personally, I'm not sure that I'd take the defense off the field for ANY 4th down unless its 4th and 10+.   Other than that, stick with a punt return 'safe' mode with the defense on the field.  I'm far less concerned with getting a good punt return than I am with making sure they don't steal an extra possession with a fake punt.   We've been burned by that this year already.  I'm sure Washington noticed.

Is there a place that has the team by team 4th down success stats for both the Offense succeeding and the Defense denying?

Maybe semantics, but I didn't say stunt.   I said the DE and DT need to be coordinated to make sure the lane is covered.   Carter did that... even if it wasn't planned.  He was heads up enough to recognize the move by Smith and reacted to it.   If Smith didn't get him down on that, I still don't think Love would have been able to beat him to the edge.   It was a great play by both of them.
