Every time the Eagles are good in recent years it’s because Howie makes some outstanding offseason moves via trade and free agency.

2017 - Alshon, Blount, Long, Foles, Robinson, Jernigan

2022 - Brown, Reddick, CGJ, Bradberry

2024 - Barkley, Baun, Bechton, CGJ

Thats some of the greatest offseason acquisitions of all time.

Maybe semantics, but I didn't say stunt.   I said the DE and DT need to be coordinated to make sure the lane is covered.   Carter did that... even if it wasn't planned.  He was heads up enough to recognize the move by Smith and reacted to it.   If Smith didn't get him down on that, I still don't think Love would have been able to beat him to the edge.   It was a great play by both of them.

I see what you mean now, initially when I saw you mention there had to be "coordination" between the T and E, I thought you meant by design, rather than ad hoc coordination as the play unfolds.

Just no more trades for KPs

That was much deeper snow.

It was.  That said, Shady was insanely quick and had amazing cutting/evasive abilities - on par with Saquon.  The main difference between the two backs is that Saquon's 4.3 speed translates to better finishing speed than Shady had, imo.  But both backs could/can "cut on a dime" and hit a home run on any given play.

Forget what year it was, but Brandon Brooks was a big addition.

They scored 18 the first game and they scored 23 last week against a less talented bucs defense.

They scored 36 against us despite FIVE turnovers. They could have hung 50 on us easily, maybe more. And they had chunk plays, which the Fangio defense is not supposed to allow. It doesn't matter what they did or didn't do two months ago. They chewed Detroit up and they chewed us up in the second game. Maybe, if Hurts doesn't get knocked out in that second game we could have outscored them, but he doesn't play defense.

A couple of late drops and its a completely different story.   They had them beat, but literally, dropped the ball in that game.

I think Daniels is being way overrated. I’m not saying he isn’t good but this isn’t prime Peyton Manning as a passer. Make sure he doesn’t run for 50 first downs and they should be fine. This ain’t Detroits defense in a dome. Hold them to 20ish like the Bucs did and the Eagles cruise.

I don’t think he is overrated at all.  He has been wildly successful at every level he has played … California high school state record for total offense by a player, then Arizona State records, then the Heismann at LSU, and now the NFL.

The main way to prevent them scoring that much (especially with 5 turnovers) is for the offense to play "ball control" - with long, time consuming drives.  Can't go 3 and out against them, need to get 1st down after 1st down.  This will also give the defense opportunity to rest and remain fresh, especially against a "quick score" type of offense.

With all due respect to Saquon, Brooks, Baun, etc....Malcolm Jenkins is still the best Eagles FA signing of all-time

As I said, perhaps we could have outscored them, but it doesn't change the fact that they scored 36 despite five turnovers. Without them, it could have been 50+.

I just think all the optimism I'm seeing here is misplaced.

That’s a stretch. I guess if you’re including longevity you have somewhat of a case.

Personally, I thought his politics and just aura was cringy and annoying. He was also a liability in coverage.

Ultimately, he was a very good signing though.

That brings up another point - this team should be beyond motivated to beat this team at home, in the NFCCG.  That loss cost the team plenty - 1st seed, rushing record (in all likelihood), Hurts' concussion, etc etc. - so plenty of "pay back" motivation as well.

The Linc will be rockin' for this one - and so should the team.

They DID outscore them, very likely if Brown or Barkley make their catches, and definitely if Smith catches his.

The final drive should have never happened.  But it did, and they took advantage a won a game they shouldn't have despite the loss of the starting QB and a starting S.

Optimism is good.  The Eagles are the more talented team, just like they were the more talented team than the Packers or Rams.   But, as with those games, the score will likely not reflect the discrepancy in talent.  This is going to be a nerve wracking game, but one that I believe the Eagles should win... just like they should have won the 2nd game against them... and they should have won against the Falcons.   They didn't win those games because they didn't finish well.   If they finish well, they should win this game something like 31-27... it will be scary and there will be a lot of angina and angst.

I don't know why tweets aren't embedding but Jags are expected to interview Moore again per Rappoport

Burrow would get it if his team had a winning record and was in the playoffs. Remove Barkley and we don't win a lot of games so I think Barkley should get it

Baun had a crazy year. It would be very disappointing if Howie doesn't give him a new contract

I'm biased but Mitchell should get DROTY. You're not supposed to shut down top WRs in your rookie year

Vic did an amazing job but I'm amazed Vikings OC isn't on the list. Went to the playoffs with freaking Darnold

As for now - in terms of "longevity" maybe.

But in terms of a "single season" performance, Saquon is clearly ahead of most.  He has to be considering he could have won the all time single season rushing record had he played a few more halves of certain games.

VERY.

Last game, if I'm not mistaken, they scored 3 TDs after CJGJ was ejected.

-Jalen Carter is a different Jalen Carter than he was last game. His game has hit another level. He's the best player on the field. He's the best defensive player left in the playoffs and DPOY. He was playing great football before, but what we're seeing from him now is unreal. He's going against a backup RG now.

-Nolan Smith has stepped his game up. Like Carter, he is not the same player he was the last game.

What's important is they play smart, aggressive football and don't lose contain.

Both Smith and Sweat can (will?) have it easier in this game than the prior two because Carter and Williams will have more opportunities in the middle thanks to the Cosmi injury.  They will still have sack opportunities, but those will come more as disciplined clean-up sacks as a result of The havoc being wrecked by Carter and Williams and Ojomo collapsing the front of the pocket.

Congratulations!

(Could always use Saquon as a middle name  - lol)
