No, it'll never happen. They love midnight green.

I do too.

Never really felt that light green.

But to each his own I guess.

Sanders didn't have this OL either (though Lomas Brown and Kevin Glover were great players in the seasons he ran behind them).

If we're judging strictly by their home run threat ability, I'd probably go

1) Barry

2) Chris Johnson

3) Barkley

Quite true.  And Barkley's houdini act turns a minor loss into a 6 yard gain sometimes, Sanders would take that and turn it into a 70 yard TD run at times.   Barkley's long runs haven't been due to an amazing set of moves he made to create the gap, but just him expertly reading the gaps that the OL creates and then exploding through and taking great angles to beat the secondary to the end zone.

I might get killed for this but Saquon reminds me of Barry Sanders.  He's the closest thing I've seen to him.   Obviously hes bigger and a little taller maybe more powerful  but any hand off he gets is a threat to take it all the way.

Nah.

Barkley rarely gets tackled behind the LOS, and he uses a LOT of power to get his yards. Shady was closer to Barry as a runner.

Barkley looks like the most complete runner I’ve ever seen though. Excellent vision, patience, burst, speed, elusiveness, power, balance… he has every trait at an elite level.

You probably already touched on this at some point but even before that whole sequence, Nick was pretty bad with the clock. They sacked Stafford to bring up 3rd and 13 and had all their timeouts but didn't stop the clock letting the Rams milk out at least 30 seconds. Eagles end up getting the ball back with 26 seconds but could have had a minute and still would have 1 timeout left.

Yup.  That's another "HC" call.  Poor clock management across the board in the final sequence of the half.

The additions of DeJean, Mitchell, Baun and CJGJ can't be understated but they lost Reddick and Cox.  One reason Fangio deserves a good part of the credit is that it wasn't a talent upgrade across the board.

The losses of Reddick and Cox are muddled because they were in rotations, the majority of which are still here.

Mitchell, DeJean, Baun, and CJGJ are straight upgrades over Bradberry, Maddox, Morrow, Byard, and the rest of the dreck in the back seven not named Slay or Blankenship.

I will agree that it wasn't just the talent.  Fangio has put together a very cohesive and successful unit.

None of them are going to make an impact on every snap like 7 years ago or give you what they got with BG. They just need a body to take 15-30 snaps a game to give the other guys rest who won't look out of place vs the run IMO. If they can put some pressure here and there even better. For a few weeks they may even need two. Jackson will probably be one. They need another.

Yeah but you need NFL quality guys who have the right body for what you wanna do. Guys like JPP and Frank Clark are cooked.

I have no interest in moving Milton Williams around or anything like that.

Apparently, Mara was at the game last night. Did you see his reaction to the 72 yard TD?

Let's not get crazy.

No player has had 500+ yards of offense in 2 weeks since Walter Payton in 1977.

They touched on this during the broadcast.  I agreed with Sirianni.  Minimizing the damage Stafford could do was the right move.  We were getting the ball at the beginning of the second half.  No need to get too greedy there.

Yeah, they'd have 6 weeks of the RS and a week or two depending on the BYE. It's fun to think about as a distraction on a sad day to get my mind off BG even if a Cox or a Watt probably won't ever happen. Watt retired because his body and mind couldn't take a long season. Probably the same with Cox. 2-3 regular season games and a few weeks of the playoffs to chase another ring might entice them. Won't happen, but it's fun to dream a bit for a few hours. It's been a while since they won and I felt this sad. Probably 2018 and it worked out well. It's not the production it's the he deserved better than going out like that.

Agree.   I think Fletch at 270 would make a pretty good DE for 4-5 games.  I am guessing they are at least bringing it up to him.  BG and Lane have probably already called him.

And this started with you stating the last sequence, not the final play. So, you moved the goal posts. If it was just that play and such circumstances, not disagreement.

Well, the ending sequence in my book started before the Eagles got the ball.  During the final 2 minutes they had a 3rd and 13 set up, and they let the clock run down limiting everything that they could or couldn't do on the ensuing drive.  That's a HC call.  And, the end of the Rams' drive absolutely counts as part of the 'final sequence' of the half.  He didn't want to be aggressive with the timeout, then he got aggressive again with the 4th down decision.  Just very herky jerky in what exactly they were trying to accomplish.

And the final part of the statement I referred to was just the cherry on top of a list of bad decisions during the final 2 minutes of the half.  The Rams got the ball with 1:27 on the clock.  They gain 5 yards and go out of bounds.  2nd and 5 with 1:23 on the clock.  Eagles get a sack making it 3rd and 13 with about 1:15 on the clock.  They let the clock run and the Rams snapped the ball and ran the ball setting up the 4th down punt with 0:33 on the clock when they called the timeout.  So, to me, that's when the HC said... let's just get out of here without giving up any points and we'll take the kickoff to start the 2nd half.   Then, when they get the ball with 0:26 on the clock and 2 timeouts, they decided to get aggressive again, and were bailed out by a penalty to give them free yards and not need to waste a timeout while the clock stopped.  But, it was really already too late.  They don't really trust Jalen to throw the ball in certain situations, and we have seen it in spades.  They don't throw it in the red zone, they don't really want to throw during a 2 minute drill.  So, why go for it on 4th down after what you witnessed on the 2nd down play call where they tried to catch the Rams napping on Hurts running the ball?   They had no rhyme or rhythm during that sequence, so the only options at the very end were punt (and put it through the end zone to kill the clock), or go for a Hail Mary (because that would be longer than 7 seconds as well).   They lined up eventually in a 3 by 1 alignment and looked like it was going to be HM.  And it should have been.  There were rumors flying that Hurts audibled to that play on 4th down as well.  And if that's true, then shame on him for not knowing the situation better, and the OC for giving him that kind of lttitude in that situation, and shame on the HC for both of them not knowing that that wasn't on the table.

But, yeah, the bad sequence began before 4th down, and it even started before the Eagles got the ball on that final drive.

Amazing performance so far. I like that he offers some real answers both on and off the field. And you really get the feeling that the best players will play..

I'm fine with that... then that's how you play the end.  But the stop-start of the end of the half was nuts.   We'll be aggressive, we'll play it safe, we'll be aggressive, we'll run a QB draw!  We'll try to throw... oh, it's 4th down, we'll be even dumber yet!

Considering Eric Dickerson wasn't drafted until 1983, gaining 500 yards in 2 consecutive games in 1977 would be quite a feat.

Wonder what it takes to get the ball back from the guy

I was fine with him not taking a timeout on 3rd and 13.  They had plenty of time when they got the ball back.  They just did not want to pass the ball.  It was inexplicably conservative.
