I agree they should separate the passing yards and rushing yards to show the full picture.  Both are relevant but they are better broken out.

They can also remove all QB sneak TDs both old school and tush push.  That would make the TD numbers change a good bit in Mahomes favor but I think that would be a fairer stat comparison.

I looked at some numbers.

Lamar had 41 passing and 4 rushing, Henry had 16 rushing.

Hurts had 18 passing and 14 rushing, Barkley had 13 rushing.

Diving further, Henry had four 1 yard TD's and three 2 yard TD's.  In the Eagles offense, Lamar gets all of those TD's.

Hurts had seven 1 yard TD's on first and goal at the 1, and four more TD's on multiple attempts from the 1 or 2.  Barkley gets a chunk of those in another offensive scheme.

In addition, the defense is better now. Notably, in 2022 the defense was 8th in points, now they are 2nd. And this defense creates more turnovers.

In the playoffs, the Eagles have 10 takeaways and zero offensive turnovers. Expect the Eagles defense to create turnovers which will be huge.

No crappy field, no bad weather, no excuses. Mahomes can't hide behind a faked injury this time either. Treat him like a running back if he decides he wants to run for 50 yards :)

I appreciate the humility.   My dad was in the USAF during Vietnam, and he also never was deployed to an active theater of operation, but not for lack of trying.  He was stationed in Montana, and wanted to go to Vietnam... so he put in for a transfer to Libya, thinking that being closer to the theater would get him shipped over sooner.  Two weeks after he got to Libya, he gets a letter from an old buddy from the Montana base... the whole unit was just informed that they had orders to go to Vietnam.  My dad was crushed.

But, to me, it isn't about where you served, but that you served.  We can have different degrees of hero, but putting on the uniform illustrates a certain level of self-sacrifice for the sake of others.  And it's worth celebrating.  So, thank you (and so many others like you) for your service.

I was USAF ROTC for 2 years in college.  After those years I decided to take my life in a different direction and go into the teaching profession, very different from what I had been planning to do in the USAF.  At times though, I have wondered if I should have stayed in the ROTC or not and served a few years before I went to the private sector to teach. But, by that time I was dating my future wife, and things just changed.  As such, I might have a slightly different view of those who serve, no matter where it is, than others might.  I have a few friends who are serving in various capacities with the army.  One helicopter pilot, one nurse, and one doctor, all went via ROTC.   My friend who is the doctor just finished his board exams and is now a full fledged M.D.

Our parents who lived through that period had it pretty rough imo. Civil rights issues, the war in Vietnam, political leader asassinations, political corruption...hippies, jk, jk...just seems like there was constant turmoil, or something they had to worry about.

My father served in the Army 4th ID in Vietnam, he was not happy when I enlisted, but he understood and supported my decision. It's really cool that you stay in touch with your ROTC friends. Everyone has a role, and I believe that behind every American is a patriot. We don't have to all agree, but we can all respect one another and help one another when the time calls for it.

Should they put an asterisk next to Troy's name since he had the Great Wall, Emmitt Smith, and a killer defense? /s

This offense is built around the running game so of course Hurts’ stats will reflect that.

This team reminds me a lot of the early 90's DAL teams...Ground game, ball control, and good defense. Get a lead, pound the rock, punish the D-Line with the 4 minute offense.

Lambeau is by far the best visiting experience I’ve ever been to. Their fans are incredible and welcomed us with open arms while we were in Eagles gear. Just great people there and a great experience. If you’re into traveling around for games, that has to be #1 on the away game list.

Same for me. Lambeau was fantastic. One fan was getting on my case for wearing Eagles fans and the other fans shut him down and apologized. lol. The tailgate was great too.

There have been some hilarious replies to him. Saw some saying to post a pic with a bong mask. Another saying to act like a complete jerk in all interviews

All he has to do is to refuse to sign with whichever team drafts him and go play for a year in the UFL.  Then the following year, the Eagles might get a very serious bargain.

History lesson for those who might not know:

Bo Jackson was ruled ineligible for his senior baseball season due to a meeting he had with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the draft process, while the Bucs held the #1 overall pick in 1986.  He asked them to make sure that him flying to meet with them at their headquarters (paid for by them) would not jeopardize his status with the NCAA.   They told him they checked and he was fine.  So, he met with them.  When he returned, he was ruled out by the NCAA.  He was so furious (baseball was his preferred sport) that he told them not to draft him because he was going to turn pro for baseball.  They drafted him anyway.  He refused to sign with them.  A year later, the Raiders selected him in the 7th round of the 1987 draft, just on a flier that he might reconsider football.  He agreed to terms to come join the Raiders at the conclusion of his baseball season with the Royals... and the two sport modern athlete was born.

All Carter has to do is refuse to sign, and go back into the draft the following year.  Other teams will be scared off, and he'll be an Eagle for 2026!!! :flex:

Also, the Eagles fell victim to this same rule with their drafting of Craig Erickson.  He was a 5th round pick by the Eagles in the 1991 draft, but never agreed to terms here.  The Buccaneers (ironically) drafted him in the 4th round of the 1992 draft.  He signed with them and went on to have a fairly forgettable NFL career, though he was the starter for the Bucs for 2 seasons, putting up decent overall passing yards in those seasons.

thinking about the number of forced fumbles we’ve created and how few we’ve given up, I wonder how much of it has to do with Barkley’s home run threat?

Opposing coaches have to be emphasizing that their players need to wrap up when tackling Barkley and to a lesser extent Brown and Goedert because of their ability to break tackles.

Meanwhile our coaches can emphasize trying to punch the ball out.

I'd put it at 0.0001%.  Never say never.  ;)

Aikman is the best comparison imho. Not the skill set, style of play, or stats. Rather the context. If Hurts can win a couple then he’d become the new Aikman.

I really appreciate that sentiment, I do however want to clarify that I am no hero. I did serve in the USMC, but I never deployed to a theater of operation, I never had to spend long periods of time away from my family. Those who had to face those things and much more challenging situations are the heroes. It's important to me that my service isn't overly celebrated, there are many, many more soldiers and even other Americans deserving of those accolades.

As an AF veteran, I completely agree. I did go to Korea for a year, but as an intelligence asset, I never had to be in theater, and those are the guys I consider heroes. After I got out at 10 years, I went and became a contractor at US SOCOM for 7 years and those guys are the hero's hero and most of them will never get to tell their stories. I had the pleasure of getting to work with Rick Lamb, who some of you who have seen Blackhawk Down will remember the guy who got an anti-tank round imbedded into his helmet that didn't go off. Got to see the helmet and everything.

There can be a bit of a circus atmosphere around Super Bowl week. Both teams converge on the host city and it doesn’t get any wackier than media night with throngs of international and entertainment reporters. That’s the night you’re far more likely to get asked about your favorite cereal than facing a Cover 2 defense.

That's an interesting point. Players have to play celebrity right up until the game because the SB is such a huge spectacle that only seems to get bigger

I'm hoping for the Bulldog guys that the National Championship experience helps a little with this. They have enough vets still around to tell them what to expect which is nice. No advantage for KC there. Should be Locked in!

The Eagles are a better team A-Z, on both sides of the ball than they were 2 years ago.

The Chiefs defense seems to be better than they were 2 years ago.

The Chiefs offense, on the other hand doesn’t seem to be better than 2 years ago - they didn’t score more than 30 points the entire regular season.

So on paper, I feel we have the more talented team.

That said, we are still facing a HOF Coach in Andy Reid and a future HOF QB in Mahomes.

We’ll need to play our A game on both sides of the ball.

Mahomes first, AR 2nd, make the Chiefs a hard team to beat.  Kelce is a key player as well and he is Mahomes' favorite target.  Our DBs lack size and height to keep Kelce in check.  DC must have a plan to contain Kelce.

When the Eagles won the SB, the Patriots came in as the favorite.  The Eagles then had the whole team working together and filled with confidence.  They beat the favorite!

Floes was the honorable captain on the Conference Championship game and we won.  He was a key player in the last SB win.  Perhaps BG would serve as the honorable captain in the upcoming SB game.  He made a critical play to cause a fumble that sealed the game.  Anything and everything to give our guys the best chance to win!

I see the endless circle jerk over Hurts is, well, endless.

Let me add another dimension. Without a doubt, Hurts squats more than Mahomes.

So... as the "home team", the Eagles should wear white?  Or... is it more about who calls the coin toss?  Do the home teams generally (or always) wear the darker colors?

Eagles get to pick the jerseys. Home teams generally pick darker colors because that's their usual home jersey.

Oh wow.  That's kinda crazy.

I didn't even ask my dad to come to the divisional game.  He's a rams fan. Not only would he be heckled, or worse. But id be a target,  even in my eagles gear just for being with him.

I've never been to a Dallas game in Philly.  But I can't imagine it's fun for you guys.

Used to be a cowpads fan that would show up at Lehigh in a cowpads jersey. Got a fair amount of heckling but rather good natured and not malicious or dangerous.  Sat next t him one practice and he was real knowledgeable about football and our team. We talked at length. He was surprised that I actually said good things about some of their players.  He heard a lot of cowboys suck and such but understood, it’s part of it.  Hell, he knew he was provoking some of it with his choice of clothing.

Geez Louise, so of these soft hearted people like the hog farmer would be destroyed in a football stadium on Friday night against a high school rival in Texas or Beaver Falls PA for that matter.  That moron ought to try walking the concourse at the state fair during the Red River rivalry weekend in OU gear to experience heckling. Heck, he couldn’t survive a UH/Rice game. (I know something about both.  I went to the state fair one year in my UH hoodie.  It’s bright Cougar red.  Well the Sooners are kind of  red too.  So I would get a fair amount of OU or Sooners suck chants. I would turn to the offending UT fans and say That they do and so do the steers. UT fans don’t like being called steers but for my youth, Aggies would say only steers and (homophobic rhyming word) go to Texas University. Yeah they don’t like that either.)  I have never seen anything at an Eagles game that gave me any cause for concern.
