I'm a traditional guy. Thanksgiving game tradition should give us the Lions in throwback uniforms but they are trotting out in all blue. The unitard trend in football sucks.

They’re trying to pull off that Boise St crap and have the uni blend in with the end zone color and I agree it’s a terrible look also.

Yeh I was shocked to hear him say that, he just doesn’t know when to keep his mouth closed. Let it play out, make your moves in the offseason, quit talking about it already.

He's a narcissist.  He can't not bring attention to himself.

John Riggins is similar to Henry and probably was closer to Henry's speed than Csonka.

The Diesel is highly underrated.

I saw another clip of Earl Campbell this morning also.

Two of the most physically imposing running backs to ever play the game. Jim Brown was another.

Brown was in another dimension … a real pleasure to see, even though he was an opponent.  My first Eagles game in 1959 at Franklin Field was against the Browns.

Prioritizing Becton makes sense, even with Steen waiting in the wings.  Depth on the OL is something that we have become very accustomed to as Eagles fans, but it is not the norm across the league.  And injuries on the OL are inevitable, they will happen, so you need (ideally) 7 competent OL.  And having some positional flexibility with Johnson fast approaching retirement is exceedingly important.

Prioritizing Sweat does not.  His knees are a time bomb.   They have been fortunate with him so far, but as the years and snaps pile up, that will become less likely.

Baun just makes sense to prioritize, not just because of how truly great he's been, but perhaps more importantly, how poor the team has been in finding and acquiring a player like that.  Take advantage of finally hitting on one, and don't let him get away.

Williams is the wild card, IMO.  What will they do with him?  He's stepped up in recent weeks.   I prioritize him over Jordan Davis.

My stance on Williams has been the same for the last few months. People would be crazy to think Howie didn’t have any conversations with him and his agent about locking him up long term already. Especially after the offseason with a flurry of extensions back to back to back. I have a hard time remembering a young, good player going to FA and coming back (not counting old and declining players like Maddox and Slay). I think he’s getting ready to get a bag somewhere else. And this season is driving up his price tag with how the defense is in general.

Hope all this Shaq Barrett stuff is true and we pulled him out of retirement. Not sure how long the process takes and what Miami does with his rights, and then does he even clear waivers... Seems convoluted, but if we get him here along with Charles Harris, that's a very good attempt to fix the issues.

How much insurance do you think Howie had on Graham?

He only had a 1 year $4M contract. So even if he had an insurance policy it’s not going to be much cap relief.

Ok, for all the Sweat haters and naysayers, who do you replace him with?  It's well and good to just say don't resign him but that's not good enough.

Who do you replace him with?

It isn't about him as compared to alternatives who also need new contracts.

So, the conversation turns to... who do you spend the money to resign?
Becton, Williams, Baun, Sweat.

Who gives you the most bang for the buck, and who would be the easiest to replace for this team?

Becton gives the most bang, not necessarily the best value contract.  He's likely to be very expensive, but bringing him back adds versatility and dominance back to the OL that you lose if you let him walk and just slide Steen in at RG.

Williams offers as much, if not more, value than Sweat and with younger legs.  Better value investment.

Baun is a guy that fills a massive hole with this team.  This team hasn't been able to answer the LB question for the longest time.   They finally found one, can they find another one?  It is hard to believe they can.

Which then brings us to Sweat.  How much will he demand on the open market?  How much is left in his tank?  And can the Eagles draft a suitable replacement, even if it takes a year or two to get to the level Sweat has played?

At this point, I think the Eagles consider bringing back Graham for one more year to fill the gap for a rookie to learn the NFL and provide what Sweat is.  This team has shown an ability to find DL, not so much at LB.

So, for me, I think Becton is the most special; Baun is the hardest to replace; Williams is the higher value player; leaving Sweat at the back of the line.   It's less about Sweat and much more about the other 3.

Josh Sweat is already playing on borrowed time with his knee. Getting away from him 1-year too early instead of getting trapped in a contract is the smart decision. His knee isn't a typical ACL repair. Once that knee goes, it's gone. He's put together a hell of a career considering what many thought. Hell, maybe he proves everyone wrong and plays 5 more strong years, but at 28, I just don't see it happening.

If they get 110 games and nearly 50 sacks out of a 4th round pick on a rebuilt knee, that's great.

Yep. I remember during the draft I posed the question before he was even picked if it was worth to burn a Day 3 pick on him even though you are likely only going to get him on his rookie deal, and a lot said no. He’s been a home run pick but it’s pretty clear Howie and the league understand the situation with him.

You are likely right.  But, he hasn't hit FA yet... so until then, he could still be resigned.

Add on top of that.....Jerry wants to extend McCarthy!  I mean, talk about the holiday season!  If you could just send over Parsons while you're at it....

He doesn’t "want to” he just didn’t rule it out. McCarthy is going to be out in Dallas.

Would like to see Carter slide out to DE once in a while in obvious passing situations.  A few times a game.  The Chiefs do that with Chris Jones and he is very difficult to block that way.  Very hard to double team him that way.  A TE would need to chip him which is not the same as a guard/center double team..

I said the same thing on Monday.  Carter has the same lower body strength and motor as BG does … and even more.  He is almost like the best of BG and Cox combined in a single player.

I like it. They are a new team and actually good. No point in putting on throwbacks to remind everyone of their trash legacy.

No one has the same motor as BG.

I wouldn’t mind resigning him but it’s gotta be on a year by year basis. I’d be fine with a 2 year deal if there’s an out.

Big plays and turnovers will come when the other teams begin pressing to push the ball down the field to try and stay in the game. That's an issue a ball control team causes, pressure, which in turn gets teams out of their gameplan and creates TOs, another similarity to those Cowboys teams.

You guys have a lot to be excited about right now.

I was watching a YouTube last night of all of Barkley’s noteworthy carries.  In addition to just enjoying it for the sake of enjoying it, I was looking for a prior instance of Saquon’s second 70 yard TD from a prior game.  What I found was that they were running that play many times starting with Week One.  I can’t wait for @just relax to get back from Portugal to break down the plays in the You Tube.  It is poetry in motion.

He could. I just noticed the pattern Howie has been putting out recently. When’s the last in season extension given out? He seems to have pivoted off that for the most part the last 3 or so years.

Another case of you and I having to agree to disagree.

Who do you replace him with?

The one positive about Graham's injury is that it will get Jalyx Hunt on the field a lot more, thus accelerating his development. They should know by the end of the year whether he is ready for starter snaps next season. If he is, there's no reason to bring back Sweat, and they will most likely gain a pretty decent comp pick.

So, looking ahead to Thursday's slate of games.

Can the Bears pull out the upset on Detroit?

Will the FCC force Fox to air something else in the afternoon?

Is the Thanksgiving game against the Dolphins a 'look ahead' game for the Packers with Detroit looming?

It would've been funny if he ruled it out at the press conference with Mike sitting right next to him.
