Josh Sweat is already playing on borrowed time with his knee. Getting away from him 1-year too early instead of getting trapped in a contract is the smart decision. His knee isn't a typical ACL repair. Once that knee goes, it's gone.

How do you know anything about his knee? That is 100% speculation on your part based on speculative pre-draft reports from over 7 years ago. Show me one actual medical report that calls his high school knee injury a degenerative condition like you are implying. There was no nerve damage or damage to the arteries like they feared was likely at the time of the injury. He didn't have some renowned sports doctor perform his surgery. So speculation ran wild that it may not hold up. It has. It doesn't matter if you extend Josh Sweat, draft a new edge rusher in the 1st round or sign a top UFA --- all of them can get hurt and lost for the season from one injury or another.

Pipe dream. He will go Top 10.

But this is who I want in the 2025 Draft.

I'd be willing to part with 2026 NFL Draft capital for the trade up.

He is that good.

Another really good EDGE came from A&M...

Same. My #1 realistic target.

His profile may not scream top 10 though unless he kills the combine.

The scary part about trading up in this class is that there are only 2 blue-chippers IMO (Jeanty, Hunter).

Look at guys like Frank Gore, he had two bad knee injuries in college. Ended up being one of the most durable and productive back in the league for a long time. So that being said its weird that people are still talking about his knee being almost shot. when its been a non issue his entire NFL career so far.

The one's that are in Green, I'd love to have back......Covey, VanSumeren, Lovato are all important special teamers and shouldn't be that expensive at all.  Baun is going to get extended, just have a feeling it's going to get done soon.  That leaves Becton, Rogers, Johnson and Williams.  Just a hunch but Rogers will sign back with us, not that costly....and if I had to chose between Becton and Williams, I'd prefer Williams.  We always seem to be able to find OL with Stoutland.  That being said, not sure if either are going to be able to be afforded.  I think Fred Johnson gets too big of an offer from another team to bring back.

And regarding the draft, every pick should be a DE lol

Covey is an RFA and VanSumeren is an ERFA.  They should be no brainers for Howie to extend.  Lovato is expensive for a Long Snapper, but at just over $1 million he is a rounding error in the Cap calculation.

To give that observation some context, here is the list of the Eagles' Free Agents this Offseason.  I highlighted in green the ones who would leave a hole in the roster.  With the exception of po0ssibly Gainwell, all the non-green players are not likely to garner "qualifying" FA contracts.  Some of the green players clearly will if we lose them, but for me each of them has more value to the team than the Comp Pick they will garner.

For Baun, we have no succession plan ... for that reason and many more he is a priority resigning.

For Becton, we have a succession plan at RG in Steen, but don't have a succession plan for Lane.  We also have Keegan as OG depth, so resigning Becton really revolves around whether Stoutland sees him a viable RT successor to Lane.  The wild card for Becton is whether resigning him results in our losing Steen.

For Graham, his departure or coming back is really a free-standing decision.  We need youth on the Edge regardless, and he isn't going to sign with any team other than the Eagles.  Graham playing one more year

I personally don't see Fred Johnson as a NFL starting Tackle.  He is a quite good backup, who brings good value to the team in that role. Any decision on Fred revolves around two factors, (1) whether another team offers him a starting role.  If they do then Fred's value to us is a Comp Pick, and (2) whether Stoutland believes Darian Kinnard can step into the backup Tackle role Fred currently fills.

I'm probably higher than most people on Isaiah Rodgers.  He and Ringo are the succession plan for Slay.  The timing of that succession is a bit unclear.  But regardless I see Rodgers having more value for the Eagles than any other CB alternative.  If we didn't need Edge as much as we do, using a Day 1 or Day 2 pick on a boundary CB would make sense if Rodgers isn't resigned.

Sweat and Williams we have talked at length about.  I'm partial to resigning both of them

Good breakdown.

I think Williams will end up getting JH/49ers kind of money from a team desperate at DT, and I like him, but I'm not sure he's worth that with Ojomo.

Rodgers shouldn't cost a ton with him not starting and looking bad vs the Rams. Not saying he'll be cheap, but I think they should be able to keep him, which is what I prefer so they have depth with him and Ringo

We'll see what Johnson gets on the market. He is a good back up, which is very valuable.

Sweat is good, but I wouldn't break the bank for him either.

They have drafted well the last few years and are in a very good spot.

Taylor is going to want Kylie on her next album. This is crazy!

There's simply no way to predict injuries. Landon Dickerson had an extensive injury history in college but hasn't had any major injuries as a pro yet. Most injuries are just bad luck. Most knee injuries happen when a player gets rolled up on. Very few are non-contact. Sweat's injury was a contact injury. I'm sure pro teams would have liked to have their choice of whom performed the surgery on any injury like that, but the overblown draft speculation has been proven a non-issue.

When Bo Jackson took that hit on his hip, It resulted in avascular necrosis, which eventually required a hip replacement. Jay Ajayi had a degenerative knee problem that continually got worse. People are speculating that Sweat's knee injury is a similar concern. But there are zero reports that conclude this to be true. It's okay for people that like to worry, to worry. But that worrying has no effect on the condition of his knee.

It's been 10 years since the injury happened. He's played football ever since. If it was going to give out on it's own, that would have already happened. The knee is sound. If I was the worrying type, I would be much more worried about a player like Kyler Murray who had a non-contact major knee injury. While his repaired knee is probably sound, the other one is probably just as much a liability as the first one was before the injury.

I was living in Dallas from 1989 through 1996 so I got a lot of Troy Boy every hour of every day.  He wasn't even in the top four Offensive players on those teams, but he was the Golden Boy.

Hurts isn’t top four on our O either. Both are/were good QBs in any case.

Good QBs ... yes.  HOF worthy QBs?  Troy's rings make him much more worthy than other similar quality QBs.  Those rings benefited greatly from the exploits of Emmitt, Irvin, Larry Allen, Nate Newton, Novacek, and Johnston, and on Defense, Deion and Haley,

Good - My original post on this topic was a reply to HE who said Hurts was "not a good QB".  I'm not claiming Hurts is HOF level.  He isn't even top 5 in the league at this point.  However, the only thing that matters here is that he leads the Eagles to the SB for a 2nd time and he is definitely good enough to do that.

HOF - Any QB that leads a team all year and wins three SBs will be in the HOF.  Also, no QB wins a SB by himself.  Even the likes of Brady and Mahomes have other great players/coaches around them.
