I agree on all of this. He needed to go.

My point remains though that it was extremely boneheaded by Williams as well

I was telling my friend while we watched it that it is reflective of the work the team put into situational football with him. He is a reflection of his coaching. Is it going that bad with Sirianni? KOC? Mcvay? No chance. (Though Nick might play it right up to the last moment and then elect to go for the win instead of kick the field goal to tie)

That was Everflus’ hard on work on display for all. He has to have it figuratively beaten into him that no sacks can happen there. He needs to know he has to be able to call timeout if it gets weird. Caleb said after the game that he was in a position to just wait to see if the staff would call timeout or not. That’s bad coaching.

Since when did plays happen during ad breaks? Oh when KC are playing…

Totally disagree. You’re right back into the same time crunch if you catch it in bounds, and open yourself up to all sorts of disastrous outcomes.

Not really.  If you call the TO you then have time for everyone to be prepared for the situation.

I'm onboard with your strategy being the best but only with a proven vet at QB.

Remember when some fans thought AJ Brown wanted to be traded, that he would be disgruntled if they run the ball more?

Remember when some thought DeVonta Smith wouldn't sign an extension because he didn't get any targets week 1 in 2022?

Eagles fan - all decked out in Eagles gear - waving an Eagles flag in the front row of the Raiders at Chiefs game?

No one is disputing that it was bad coaching.

We're nearing the end of the season for a player who should have enough of a brain to say "Oh, man, maybe I should snap or just call the TO"

Eberflus is the bigger jack ass, but they're both dumb

Good times.

We never let "great" players walk.

It’s an issue of delegation. The HC focuses only on the clock. That frees up the WB bandwidth to focus only on getting the players set to run a play. This should just be SOP in that situation.

If you call the TO immediately, throw over the middle, get a completion, you’re looking at 20 seconds to remove the offense, put the FG team on the field, get set, and snap with no penalties.

You’re also rushing the kicker in that situation.

It just doesn’t make sense to me with the game on the line. Way too many moving parts and things that can go wrong. Just play it safe and guarantee yourself a routine, orderly FG attempt, the extra yards you MIGHT get on a pass are not worth the extra risk of blowing the FG attempt.

Either way the coach completely botched it.

Translation -- he's not playing.

There's a Fing Chiefs romcom movie? Give me a break already, FFS

The slobbering over mohomo is the worst. I cannot wait for the day someone lays that mfer out. I'm sure that would lead to a lifetime ban from the sport though even for a legal hit

Agreed.

If it's close, he shouldn't play. Need Smitty at 90%+ to win a SB.

Great clip.  What makes it even more powerful for me is that his play on the field shows no reduction in his competitive fire.  Hurts threw the ball away over AJ’s head in Sundays game and his immediate body language reaction was "Damn, I cold have caught that pass.  I’m better than these DBs.  But by the time he got back to the huddle, that disgust was in the rear view mirror.  On to the next play.  Bottom-line, they trust one another.  It is a pleasure to watch.

So maybe Ben Johnson would take the Bears job?  Got a young talented QB and some good pieces around him.  Also Chicago could weaken Detroit too.

Young talented QB? Idiot with athletic ability but nothing between the ears who cries on mommy's lap when he loses. Literally.

I agree with you 100% ... tons of variable ... which is why I don't use the single variable of the QBs arm as the determining factor of what makes a good QB.

Agreed. It's one of the lesser concerning issues with Hurts. Bigger problem by far is his lack of processing speed. That's what holds the offense back most, in various ways.

Raiders O-Line look horrible run blocking

Tua’s processing speed yesterday was A+. So much so that he completed over 80% of his passes.

And they lost … and lost big.

Here is a question for you, in what percentage of Hurts’ snaps does his processing speed hold back the offense?  Or asked another way, how many yards of total offense above the 481 yards that they got on Sunday would improved processing speed from Hurts have produced?

I am worried about Sundays game. I don’t have a great feeling about it…

Drinking helps.  By game time, you will be feeling better.
