You have to look at things at the time they were done.

We got Dotson before the season. We had a healthy set of EDGE players but ZERO depth at WR.

We also didn’t know Barkley and the run game would be THIS good.

At the time, Howie is thinking Hurts is going to lead the offense and he needs as many playmakers as possible, especially as a backup in case Brown or Smith get hurt.

I don’t blame him for not making a deadline move for an EDGE either. We had healthy players and Fangio’s defense isn’t built around pure pass rushers. He schemes sacks. It’s more important for him to have versatile OLBs/EDGE like Hunt, Smith, etc.

Defense is exponentially better.  

Offense has just as much talent, ground game is better and the passing game has the potential to be just as good as 2022 - once they get in sync/everyone healthy, etc

With two more wins and a Washington loss to the Saints, the Eagles can Clinch the NFC East against the Steelers.   

The defense is absolutely insane. Held the best offense in football to 12 (no I don't count the TD that was scored when both the offense and defense were in garbage time mentality).

I agree, but it’s a copy cat league. Doesn’t matter if other GMs and HCs actually know the formula, they’ll try to synthesize it.

The 2022 defense, at this point in the season, was very, very highly regarded.  History shows that it had several cracks that we had under appreciated.  It did have a much more dangerous edge rush than this defense.

This pass offense is the same personnel, but isn’t playing at a high level at all.

And the ground game…far far better now.
