Something I've been wondering the last couple weeks is if lurie talked to sirianni and told him to knock it off with his clown show act. He's been relatively tame lately

Saquan needs to average 122 yard over the next 5 games to break Dickerson's record.

Interestingly, I think Huff will be returning to a different defense.

Every player has settled into a role now.  And the primary stand up edge is Nolan Smith.

Huff is going to come back as a rotational edge…which is where he excelled with the Jets.  He might be more disruptive this time around in a smaller role.

And I know that everyone has a massive sentimental attachment to Graham…but he was a bigger factor in the pass rush in that last game thanks to a backup RT getting eaten alive.  I think Jalyx Hunt might actually be more active in the pass rush than Graham would have been.

After today’s game, Barkley has 1766 yards from scrimmage and 13 total TD’s - in only 12 games.

Most fans would have been thrilled with that type of production from him for the entire year but here we are AND with 5 games still to go.

What an amazing season by an amazing player.

Siri the HC and Hurts the QB are on parallel paths.  Hurts just doesn’t look good as a passer…and as you look around the NFL, you see that’s really how a lot of the other winning QB’s are getting it done too.  And the Siri clown show…there are quite a few HC’s that have their own little clown show going too, some of whom have won a lot of games in the last couple years.

Lol

I wasn't watching intently, but it seemed like Hunt was around the ball a lot when he was in.

BG gets his surgery on Tuesday

You won’t like this, but it’s pretty much confirmed that Hurts is 2022 Brock Purdy-ing this offense.

Good enough to win a ton of games and may be good enough to win it all, but that is the rate limiting step of the team.

CJGJ has cleaned up his game too…

It’s a little weird that CJGJ and Slay might be the 2 worst starters on defense and are probably the 2 most vocal players on the unit, but it does seem that some of the guys may feed of CJGJ.

CJ started the season out very rough, but is now playing very well…but the D as a whole is playing great.  Over the course of the season Huff is clearly the worst by a mile (though he got delegated quick) and Dean (who’s came on as of late and this is absolutely no disrespect to him as his biggest previous hater, since he is now a plus starter now that Vic knows how to use him).  Slay hasn’t been bad at all this season, he’s just old and fragile.  This D has been special in an era that isn’t supposed to be this good on the back end.

This is what we need from Hunt…I hope this is a sign of things to come.  The DL went from 3 games of being completely inept to one of the best in the league.  They’ve gotten better every week.  The thing i worry about the most is Graham still being the only edge capable of consistently setting an edge and he’s done.

This photo is hilarious. Big Dom couldn’t give less of a ish in what Sirianni is saying.

Nobody wants to do these post game PC's.  It's a waste of time.

He's a pain in the ass by default but it looks like he's not too much of a pain in the ass for Fangio's coaching, and I think considering the Dolphins last year, he deserves credit for that. Fangio is the type of guy that will make sure he understands his responsibilities, and him playing assignment sound is really all I wanted from him. He's trusting his guys rather than focing attempts to make plays, and that's exactly what I wanted him to become, because that's what safeties are supposed to do.

Maybe he just needed some old school cranky football guy who would shove his foot up his ass if he Fed up, who knows. But he's no longer playing selfish football, and that's exactly what I like to see. Credit to him.

Sweat really turned it back on and is in his peak form.  Carter stepped it up into an all-pro form.  Milton Williams is reliably overmatching the limited attention he gets standing next to Carter.  And Nolan Smith’s speed off the edge has started to cause problems for OT’s.  None of these things happened in the first quarter of the season…and then they all fell into place all of a sudden.  Even Hunt is giving them good snaps.

Gives me hope that Huff will still fine some sort of traction to contribute too.

But you are right…Graham could set the edge.  That’s not a strength of any of these guys.

Don’t they say Mitchell is a big trash talker?  His body language is very reserved and controlled.

It’s pretty much an identical team to those Niners teams. An elite RB, great offensive line, good receiving options, and a top defense. It’s Hurts’s job to just get the ball to the playmakers and not turn it over. He adds the extra element with his legs though.

I know everyone keeps saying he’s going to have to win games with his arm eventually, but they passed that first test today in not needing him to do that against a top offense. He’ll most likely need to if they run into Detroit in the playoffs or Buffalo in the Super Bowl but I guess you worry about it then.

I think everyone in the building knows it’s Saquon’s offense, including Hurts, and they’re at least riding that into a fight for the #1 seed. It’s the biggest strength on the team. Ideally you’d want an elite passing attack to complement that but they are what they are through 12 games and I don’t see much improving on that end. The health of AJ and DeVonta will be paramount the rest of the way. It shouldn’t be this way, but the passing game craters when one of them is out. If they can stay healthy, I think the chance is always there of the passing game looking somewhat competent enough to beat top teams when paired with the rushing attack and the defense.

Nah, Jenkins was incredibly inconsistent…would disappear for weeks at a time.  I will forever appreciate his 17 season and Super Bowl and then his legit all pro 18, but Coop has made an impact on every game he’s been in so far.  Him and Q are on different levels right now and they’re only rooks.

My phrasing was a bit ambiguous, but Reed is Talcum Jenkins, and Coop is the new Chalk Dawk.

Sheldon’s hit registered higher on the jacked up Richter scale.  Dejean’s was a better football play.  Sheldon rang his guy’s bell worse, but he lined him up from 10 yards out when Bush never saw it coming.  DeJean decleated one of the most physical ball carriers in the NFL with a perfect form tackle….granted, he didn’t exactly have a head of steam either.

If they can keep Barkley in peak form (that’s a whole other can of worms because I don’t think they’ll actually do it)….then I’m not sure they will need Hurts to win games with his arm.

It’s unprecedented in the last 30 years of football, but this could be the team and this could be the competitive landscape to actually do it.  This defense, this OL, 30+ carries from Barkley, and a turnover free game from Hurts with selective Qb runs and safe QB throws…the Eagles are probably a strong favorite to beat any team in the NFL in a given game.

BUT…the asterisk there is that it is tough to string together 3-4 such wins without breaking down Barkley.  At the very least, they HAVE to protect him in the last few weeks of the season.

Panthers won't be easy, but I'd like to see them use Gainwell and Shipley a bit more. Keep Smith out as well. Maybe give Carter a few less reps. Get healthy and use some of the depth to keep guys from wearing down towards the end of the season.

Never thought we’d be here after the Bucs completely dismantled and embarrassed us

The goal is to win the SB.

Think about it this way.  We have a roughly  0% chance of winning the SB without a healthy and energized Barkley.

Every game they slash his workload marginally decreases the chances of winning that game and increases the chances of a 100% Barkley in the playoffs.

Start getting the bubble wrap ready.  Screw rushing titles and MVP awards.

Punter is important.  Arryn Siposs cost us a SB with his terrible performance.  Mann is a big upgrade.

Contributed, just like the third all time sack defense that couldn't pass rush.
