EMB Blog: 2024 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

I'm not going to get too ahead of things because any of the playoff teams could beat any of the others, but I don't have any 'fear' of any of them. We're capable of beating any team... if they play up to their potential.

Yup. This team, if they keep playing this way, can beat any one, and after today, they’ve proven they can win in any location, which is why I’m not terrified of playing in Detroit if it comes to that. I really want the bye though.

It's a good day to love the team. They make you stroke out the first half, but damn that defense is good. I'm trying to think of the last time they were and I'm not even sure any of the JJ ones played this well. Has the feel of the late 90s Bucs D with Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch.

Even worse than the 10-1 eagles last year?

I think they might be yeah! They get away with wins against bad teams every single week it seems. There’s a reason nobody is talking about them as a 10-2 team.

I think the chiefs are a worse team.

You said the run game wasn't doing ish, it's because they weren't using it. They opened the game with a 13 yard rush and then threw 3 straight times and punted. Next drive Barkley had a 10 yard run, then they threw 3 times and punted. The run game was fine, they didn't commit to it at all and that's why the offense didn't do ish until they actually committed.

Because it wasn’t, it didn’t look like they were committed to a competent passing attack either…or were they..by targeting Campbell and covey in a key situation? Look yo…NO MATTER how ANYBODY up here, ANY media personalities or ANY subversives associated with The Eagles wants to slice it. Hurts THREW the ball and ran it to get the first TD. And ran and threw the ball (in the middle of the field where "eagles fans” kept whining by instruction) to move up the field in the 2nd qtr. to give the team the lead. EF all that sideways nonsense y’all up here cater to to try to undermine crediting The QB.

They either tried to run or didn’t , they either tried to pass or didn’t. I watched the game and I don’t see a bad 1st qtr. Wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad..and it definitely wasn’t because of Hurts..so gtfoh

Yeah you might be right there actually! They are where they are because of the officials. At least Minnesota are plucky.

Our first quarter:

1st possession: 12 yard run, incomplete pass, 4 yard run, incomplete pass, punt.

2nd possession: 4 yard run, incomplete pass, incomplete pass, punt.

3rd possession: 3 yard run, 5 yard catch by Barkley, Sack, punt.

So, just a recap:

4 rushing attempts for 23 yards and 5.75 per attempt.

6 passing attempts, 1 completion for 5 yards, 4 incompletions, 1 sack.

Yet somehow it was our running game wasn’t doing sh**.

And you don’t think this is bad? Do you also think toddlers mainlining heroin is a healthy practice for child development?

A difference a year makes.  I admit, I didn't want to believe the collapse last year and was in denial they would turn it around but they clearly ran out of gas after the long Super Bowl run the previous year. It was basically a Super Bowl Hangover but it came at the end of the season.  But last season they were 10-1 coming off that amazing OT win against the Bills and then the wheels fell off with a San Fran and The Boys blowouts and a shocking Seattle comeback win by Drew Lock.    Fast Forward a year later and the Eagles are now 10-2 but this time they already had their struggles earlier in the season.  Now they are even stronger this year coming into December.

Instead of the Ravens blowing us out like 49ers did last early December.  That didn't happen, instead the Eagles are one the hottest teams in the league with an 8 game winning streak and a win in December already.  They are one win away matching last year win total.  They are four wins away from matching 22' Super Bowl season total.   They are 3 wins away from tying Super Bowl Seasons 2004 and 2017 with 13 wins.   They are 5 wins away from breaking the Eagles all time regular season record of 15 wins.

Great assessment.  CJ in 2024 is a much better Safety than CJ in 2022.  Consistency trumps flash.

I legitimately could not stand him before, OR the fanbase talking about him because he wasn't assignment sound, blew plenty of coverage trying to get picks, and was a really awful tackler. He's actually fixed most of the problems I've had with him because he's basically doing none of the things he was known for in 2022 now. Vic, his secondary coach, or both seem to have coached him hard, and I appreciate that. I don't really have complaints anymore.

Huh?  Quarters 1 and 3 were awful offensively.

If the defense wouldn’t have played lights out during those pitiful quarters by the O, the game would’ve been a blowout for the Ravens.

Yep, if tucker not missed those kicks the ravens would have probably win.

However, if my grandma has wheels she'd be a bike.

I mean they talk about the kicks but the last Ravens TD was a garbage time special, if those kicks had gone through the last 2 minutes of defense wouldn't have been so soft.

Also when you look at the stats, the ravens had far more yards than us, passing and rushing. more time of possession, first downs, you name it.

Yet the game wasn't as close as the scoreline suggested at all.

That's what happens when you get 7s vs 3s...or missed 3s in this case.

Well, genius they usually mix it up. They never just run run run out the gate or during the game. So basically you’re telling me the GAMEPLAN they had for the 1st qtr sucked by your standards unless that was the gameplanners plan…to script plays involving Shipley, Covey and Campbell. Don’t see that’s a qb problem. Maybe they didn’t get what they were looking for for the runs they called🤔I guess he has to catch and create separation as well.😂

Yes penalties and gameplan and such, it wasn’t bad as far as the qb is what I’m saying.

I wonder if Hurts would be willing to adjust his contract.

He’s throwing for about 200 yards per game and may not throw 20 TDs this year in an offense that doesn’t lean on him.  If Howie gets the ammo to do his thing, Hurts can be a perennial winner and fringe MVP candidate as the QB/leader of a stacked team that contends for SBs.

If Howie can’t make additions and has to struggle to keep the Bechton’s, Milton Williams, Braun’s of the roster because a system QB is about to average a $32m cap hit, then we go down a different path that is a lot closer to the consternation of the first 4 games of this season.

Yea, I said something similar last night. This isn't a knock on Hurts, but if he's now being asked to be a game managing QB, throwing for between 150-200 yards per game, his salary should be looked at.
