On Saquon's TD, their LB Simpson moves to the outside gap away from the play side to cover Hurts if he keeps it.  It would have been a difficult block for Jurgens if Simpson was following the play flow.  But he didn't have to.  Mailata takes care of Roquon Smith in the gap and Barkley is off to the end zone.  Not part of his passing statistics, but what Hurts adds to the offense.

You forgot to include the receiving TD for QB A vs. the drop by QB B.

Also... context matters.   QB A had a running game to lean on much more than QB B.  So, he didn't have to do as much statistically.

He's doing it because I posted stats a page or two prior of two QBs over the last five games.

They're both comparable and one looks to be better overall. The two were Bo Nix and of course, Hurts.

I'm not saying that Nix is better, but we need *some* to stop this notion that Hurts is some elite QB. He isn't. The numbers are pretty similar, but one is a rookie with no where near as much talent on his line, at the receiver position, at the running back position, on defense, etc.

Hurts is a good game manager and I acknowledge that, but we need to collectively be real. He is unquestionably at his best when he does less.

He's played his way into a big contract. I don't think he will be here next year but I hope Howie can find a way.

If push comes to shove, I'd rather the team sign Becton than Williams. Love him as a player but Lane is getting up in years and Williams is benefiting from OL emphasis on Carter.

Bit jarring the offense is that predictable. Is this the result of having to dumb things down so much for Hurts?

Richard Sherman knocked the wind out of me a bit today as well on his blog talking about how it's concerning it is they have to rely on SB when the Ravens didn't have amazing corners. He said what many of us worry about, which is in the playoffs they will contain him and he isn't sure we'll be able to throw.

Hurts is the absolute weak link on what should be an offensive powerhouse because of the talent.

Hurts is garbage. He had 11 completions yesterday and people continue to act like it’s not a big deal. The offense had 3 total yards in the 3rd qtr. that’s inexcusable. He is absolutely the worst part about the offense and at some point he’s going to be forced to win the game and will fall flat on his face. The ravens secondary is terrible and hurts still couldn’t produce. Looking forward to the days where he is no longer an eagle

Which is good, but how much do they have to dumb the offense down to simplify it for him at the same time which takes a lot away from the offense? How much does he not see the field because he can't progress past one target, which takes away from the offense? We are stuck with him, and the running threat is great, but imagine what a real QB would be doing with that OL, that RB, that TE, and two of the top 10 WR in the league. He is the problem on offense both with his play and how they have to design things, so it's great he adds that threat, but it equals out. He's Trent Dilfer who can run.

Totally agree.

Yeah, lack of context was the point of the post. 500 passing yards looks good, but when you lose, was it really great?

Not sure about being great or not, but that fumble that wasn't included in the stat line looms largest.  Ultimately, his day wasn't great enough.   But, then again, I abhor the idea of the "QB" win loss record.   Its a team game.  Teams win, Teams lose.  And on that day, the Eagles team was better than the Pats team.   And that's all that matters.

Not sure if it's being dumbed down, but rather Hurts' struggles against zone.  Here are Man v Zone stats from an analytics website through week 11. His differential between Man and Zone is second worst, only behind Darnold.

I still don’t think our passing game is close to being where it should be. The Ravens pass D sucks and Hurts had 1 more passing yard than Barkley had of total offense.

Obviously I’m not there but Moore and Hurts just don’t seem to be on the same to be a good combo.

Interesting. Thanks for posting that. I'm basing that on things that have been reported that they "simplified" the offense since the BYE. It could have been the zone.

I do blame the start of games on the coaching and plan.

Hey look high-level QB play.

I wonder how much Nick is involved in the first part of games? They seem to improve so is that Moore adjusting or being more free to be himself?

Except the run game wasn’t doing ish all first half AND Hurts marched the offense down the field in the middle of the second qtr running and throwing IN THE MIDDLE of THE FIELD (where idiots thought he couldn’t for some reason)…for a game leading score off of a Brotherly Shove. This is after throwing the first TD to Geodertt. I know some of the no pxxxxxy gettin fanbase whacks off so much they now suffer partial blindeness. …BUT that is what happened in the game that was on TV.

They didn't do "ish" because they weren't doing it much. 13 yards the first play and then 3 straight passes. Scroll back to yesterday. Many of us were typing over and over RUN THE BALL. Other times they'd get 4 yards or so on first and then pass pass punt.

I think some may blame the coaches for not running more in the first half, but there seems to be a repeatable sequence with our offense.  Teams sell out to stop our running game and do so with some first half success.  Our offense subsequently sucks for the first quarter until the passing game settles down and starts to move the ball against stacked boxes and light secondaries in Q2.  Then the box softens up as a second half adjustment after a 7 for 7 Hurts TD drive late in the first half and the running game takes over.

Rinse and repeat every week.

Except other teams don’t actually have much success stopping our running game early.

Its just that the coaches intentionally exhaust every other option, no matter how well simple handoffs to Barkley are working, before they decide to just let our historically productive player get the ball consistently.

We've been playing with leads, but this is still remarkable. The Hurts hate is getting ridiculous at this point.

It's an interesting side plot to me to see Williams and Alim McNeil both succeed in the league after the draft room drama with Howie and that scout when Detroit jumped us to get McNeil. Seems to have worked out well for both sides.

The Lions didn't jump us. We were on the clock and had the chance to pick McNeil, but Howie traded down a few spots because he wanted an extra fifth [edit, 6th, I guess] round pick. (Hooray, we got Tarron Jackson!) Before we got to pick the guy we wanted (McNeil), the Lions took him and we settled for Milton Williams when our turn came. If we're all being honest, we "lost" on that maneuver. Even so, Williams was a good pick so it's hardly a catastrophe.

There's a small part of me that is starting to think it is intentional at this point. Rope a dope every week to start the game. It's the only way I can explain it, because we know Moore will commit to the run.
