Not really. He's maddening to watch at times and hits a few open people a game leaving so much more on the table a real QB wouldn't. Take SB off this team and they wouldn't have the record they do. He's Trent Dilfer who can run.

No other Eagles coach had ever beaten the Bengals or the Ravens away from home.

Nick Sirianni did both in his first try.

The Eagles are only ahead of Carolina, New England, Tennessee and the Giants in passing.

He is unquestionably a game manager

I have less problems with hurts yesterday and more issues with why the eagles as an offense has these issues where they just stop looking for aj brown for long stretches in games. The first quarter he had one target and it was the deep ball that was off the mark. The second quarter the offense got going on second touchdown drive because AJ Brown was absolutely dominating the Ravens. The ravens had no answer for him on that field.

So what happens to start the third quarter? He gets no targets. They don’t even look his way when they did want to pass the ball. To me it is inexcusable that AJ Brown was killing the ravens in that 2nd quarter and then he didn’t get a target the rest of that game but really that third quarter. I get the 4th quarter Barkley got going and you ride that horse. But that third-quarter may not have been as disastrous for the offense if they just found ways to get aj brown back involved.

Do game managers rush for 40 yards per game?

A difference a year makes.  I admit, I didn't want to believe the collapse last year and was in denial they would turn it around but they clearly ran out of gas after the long Super Bowl run the previous year. It was basically a Super Bowl Hangover but it came at the end of the season.  But last season they were 10-1 coming off that amazing OT win against the Bills and then the wheels fell off with a San Fran and The Boys blowouts and a shocking Seattle comeback win by Drew Lock.    Fast Forward a year later and the Eagles are now 10-2 but this time they already had their struggles earlier in the season.  Now they are even stronger this year coming into December.

Instead of the Ravens blowing us out like 49ers did last early December.  That didn't happen, instead the Eagles are one the hottest teams in the league with an 8 game winning streak and a win in December already.  They are one win away matching last year win total.  They are four wins away from matching 22' Super Bowl season total.   They are 3 wins away from tying Super Bowl Seasons 2004 and 2017 with 13 wins.   They are 5 wins away from breaking the Eagles all time regular season record of 15 wins.

One game at a time … grasshopper.

Honestly I could care less how many passing yards Hurts has as long as they get the win.  They have had a found a formula to success.  When the game is on the line and he needs to throw, Hurts has came through.

I legitimately could not stand him before, OR the fanbase talking about him because he wasn't assignment sound, blew plenty of coverage trying to get picks, and was a really awful tackler. He's actually fixed most of the problems I've had with him because he's basically doing none of the things he was known for in 2022 now. Vic, his secondary coach, or both seem to have coached him hard, and I appreciate that. I don't really have complaints anymore.

Agreed 100%

Yea, I said something similar last night. This isn't a knock on Hurts, but if he's now being asked to be a game managing QB, throwing for between 150-200 yards per game, his salary should be looked at.

He isn't just a game manager though is he, did Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer or Jake Delhomme score 53 rushing TD's in any 5 year stretch of their careers, even combined?

Go and ask Hurts agent, "yeah guy we're 10 plus wins for the 3rd time in 4 years of your clients term as starter, but we think he's being carried by the team and in a fantasy where we give Joe Burrow his job we think he'd throw like 8000 yards and 100 TD's every year, so can you give us a break on the contract?"

I swear to God this fanbase gets worse in it's goalpost moving to trash their own damn QB.

There's a small part of me that is starting to think it is intentional at this point. Rope a dope every week to start the game. It's the only way I can explain it, because we know Moore will commit to the run.

I see setting up plays in a script to determine the other team’s game plan.

But that shouldn’t take an entire quarter! It’s infuriating!

Ever think that the defense may actually be trying to take Brown out of the game after seeing what he did in the second quarter?  It seemed clear that the Ravens made an adjustment at halftime.

With the best OL in football and Brown and Smith when healthy. Inexcusable. Especially, with SB as a threat. Can you imagine what Burrow or even Stafford would put up in that offense?  Hell, Mayfield would put up much better numbers.

Great, I love that he is a threat there, but he probably leaves at least 100 yards passing on the table every week. He wouldn't have to run so much if he could progress fast enough and see the field or they didn't have to simplify the offense in their words since the BYE. Good QBs don't have to have things simplified. Game managers do.

Ever think that they have had this issue this year where stop going to him for long stretches in games or can’t figure out how to get him the ball that it might simply be on the eagles?

It’s the same reason he has four targets in the red zone all year. So smith had missed more games then Aj brown and still has more targets than Aj brown in the red zone.

Dallas game 4 receptions in 1st half; 1 in the second half. Commanders 5 catch first 40 mins of that game, last 20 1 catch. Rams game Aj had 6 targets in the first half then 2 in the second half (0 last 20 mins of the game). Yesterday 6 targets and 5 receptions in the first half and 0 in second half. If you go back and watch the game in the third-quarter, he had one on one opportunities. it wasn’t as if it wasnt there, we just didn’t look or call plays to him

also, the Eagles having one target to AJ Brown the first 20 mins of the game then all the sudden he’s doing whatever he wants. The ravens didn’t switch what they were doing at that point, the eagles just didn’t target him outside of a deep ball or put him in position to succeed with getting him the ball on routes where he could consistently dominate

If we’re gonna say the ravens changed what they were doing to stop AJ Brown, so they were able to shut AJ Brown down from even being targeted, but they had no solutions to Rashee rice, Adams, chase 2x, Pickens, and Sutton. Some of those teams don’t have a backs close to saquon to account for nor running ability of hurts the ravens have to account for. No offense it is BS if we are going to pretend the ravens pass defense is remotely good enough to stop aj brown from being even targets for a half

Trent Dilfer, the poster child for game managers, threw for 136 and ran for 7 yards a game in 2000.

Hurts is 208 and 40.

Come up with a different term than game manager.

I guess we'll pretend the game hasn't drastically shifted to make it easier for teams to move the ball and score

Probably.  And he probably adds the remaining 60 to Barkley's total by being a run threat to the defense.  Probably.

I am not arguing that he is a great QB.  I think that he is a good, not great, passer.

But he is doing what this team wants him to do very well.

We can agree on that for sure.

These are Hurts' splits by quarters in 2024.  It's my perception that Hurts starts games very poorly and the Eagles start many games behind, in large part due to this.  The difference between 1st and 2nd quarter production is stark.  Is the logical underlying reason because Moore is playing possum deliberately, or that Hurts isn't where he needs to be (physically or mentally) immediately after kickoff?

I'm not of the position that Hurts needs to give back money, or needs to be replaced, or just sucks in general -- but the slow starts is a ticking time bomb.  Unless the Eagles catch DET for the #1 seed in the NFC, they'll be playing 3 all-or-nothing playoff games to get to the Super Bowl -- a wildcard, a divisional and the NFCCG.  My concern is the Eagles get off to a slow start they can't come back from -- playoffs is a different animal.  DET can get a long way ahead while the Eagles offense sputters to get started, but it can happen in any playoff game, and the Eagles are done.

Can't because that's what he is. If Trent had his legs he'd be Hurts. Again, you only simply an offense for a game manager.

Please elaborate on what you assert as the offense being simplified.

Since Blankenship was out with a concussion DeJean took his place in the final play of the game.
