My bad. 11 completions is great. What a player. Worth every penny. That 31st ranked passing defense he faced must’ve been a fake stat, they’re way better than that

See, this is the middle school take. You don't seem to be able to converse with others and engage in a conversation. That's not at all what was said and you either know it or are an idiot.

Well, genius they usually mix it up. They never just run run run out the gate or during the game. So basically you’re telling me the GAMEPLAN they had for the 1st qtr sucked by your standards unless that was the gameplanners plan…to script plays involving Shipley, Covey and Campbell. Don’t see that’s a qb problem. Maybe they didn’t get what they were looking for for the runs they called🤔I guess he has to catch and create separation as well.😂

Here’s the challenge for you.  Rewatch the first series, then watch the rest of the game and see how they adjusted.  How many of those plays were tried again with adjustments and saw success?   I am pretty sure that when the All22 is out and I rewatch the D’s first series, I will see a pretty base front seven at first focused on controlling their running game with the secondary in a pretty loose quarters coverage with no MM (man match) and little to no MOD.  Then as the game goes on Fangio and Parker made adjustments allowing more stunts, feints, MM and MOD to counter what the Ravens are doing.  The scripts aren’t getting fast starts but the adjustments coupled with the physicality of the team helps with strong finishes.  (When in 2023 did you think those adjustments were being made?)

Go find one. It's been reported for the last two months that they have asked him to do less in the passing game

No. It has not been so reported. I'm calling BS. I recall some noises to that effect in 2022 and perhaps at some point in 2023, but certainly not this year. I recall lots of whining about Hurts never using the middle of the field but that's past tense now too. We run more and pass less but that is because we run so well and because it is tougher on the other team. You want proof? Look at how we perform in the fourth quarter. Another thing: Hurts probably reads more than most QBs because our system is so diverse. And once we figure out the other team's defense, we go no-huddle, and that's on Hurts.

In keeping with the nonsense that has been tossed out as received knowledge, it's been argued here that Lamar is not a good QB. Two MVPs, second in the league in passing. WTF does anyone want? How do we define what is a good QB?

He is Elite.  He is the best QB in the NFC and a top 5 QB in the NFL.

You can see weaknesses from film study but teams may also change things week to week and alter some of what they do.  Moore, and maybe Sirianni as well, may let the game play out a little to see what they're doing.

Yep. Other teams make adjustments too.

They expect everyone to be generational talents like Brady, Manning, or Mahomes otherwise they're just "game managers."

Though it's notable that even Mahomes has been outplayed by Jackson in multiple seasons thus far, soon to include this one as well.

Turns out drafting championship players from arguably the best defenses college football has ever seen is paying dividends.

You should accept the fact that Hurts can still be the best QB in the NFC without being elite.

Elite QBs don't go 11/19 for 119 yards.

He is doing a great job at being the Eagles QB and can lead us to Super Bowl the way he is playing.

But it is not Elite.

He had 11 completions yesterday. LOL

The passing game is an issue.  It seems a big part of the problem yesterdary was the play calling rather than poor execution by Hurts.  His best attribute is that he hasn't made too many mistakes lately which is the definition of a game manager.

The complaints I've seen mentioned are that he's paid to be something he's not

The problem people have with Hurts is that he doesn't play the game in the way that they want to see the game played.

They want to see someone like Burrow or Herbert, zipping balls into tight windows in the middle of the field. Hurts will never be that guy. It doesn't mean he can't be successful in the league, as we have all seen. It's just that our offense is different from one that certain people are demanding that we run.

The people who want to win games how they want to win games will never be happy with how Hurts wins games. It's just the way it is.

Meh.  I have the Diehard subscription because I signed up mainly for Duffy and his stuff is very good.  Note that I am not a baseball fan, a Flyers fan (go Bears) nor an NBA fan (college basketball for me).  They have a lot of stuff on the other 3 teams.  Also, I have little use for sports podcasts.  I read and watch film work.

Those seem to be more the exception though. Also CMC's durability is looking to be ending already

I don't think Howie would draft a high 1st round RB unless a true exception and there was not another player they like that they think will be elite. It did take them about 20 years before they drafted another 1st round corner, which is a position they actually value. Linemen and WR typically. They've drafted McCoy and Sanders with a 2nd so I could see that. There were rumors about them taking Bijan Robinson in the 1st.

Barkley is unique and special. But they've had success with good RBs as well when the O line is elite. I actually thought Swift was a good enough RB but they didn't utilize him well enough. They won a SB with the combo of Ajayi, Blount, and Corey Clement.

I think they'll do another 2nd or 3rd round RB to develop and if needed and the value is right, a free agent.

CMC was done to start the year and now he is really done.

It will be interesting to see how the RB position gets valued in this upcoming draft.

All of a sudden teams are starting to see the value of very-good-to-elite RB's.  I wonder if the whole "you can get a good RB in the mid rounds" thinking starts to shift.

That's just the reality of the NFL, where QBs are overdrafted and overpaid, every single year for the past 3 or 4 decades. If you're an NFL QB that's not on a rookie contract, there's an overwhelming chance that you're being paid to be something you're not. Probably only 2 or 3 QBs each year can make the argument that they're actually living up to their contract value. Even this year, I can think of Burrow, Allen, and Lamar that are sufficiently earning their keep. But who is after that? Maybe Goff or Stafford?

C'mon, man.  It's been a season-long trend.  Hurts started 1-for-5 for 5 yards and the team fell behind 9-0 (should have been 10-0).

During the winning streak I have no problem saying Hurts has been excellent in quarters 2 through 4, but the playoffs are a one-and-done every week.  The Eagles are playing with fire by starting so slowly, and Hurts' first quarter ineffectiveness is the common denominator.

Hurts has to do whatever he needs to do to solve his first quarter woes.  The Eagles' deep playoff run aspirations likely depend on it.

Nah, seems like an obvious gameplan "issue” strategy, whatever.

Hurts is a very good game managing QB with high end mobility, the automatic ability to gain 1 yard, and a very good deep ball. That's a pretty unique combination which is partially why I find ranking him pretty asinine. I don't see him carrying a bad team/game plan, but that's a combo that any good coach/GM can win with.

He had 23 completions against ATL and they lost. When you're winning with a lead and have the league's top RB you run the ball and grind out the clock.

That’s where I’m at. I thought play calling early and then 3rd quarter was just not very good.also I don’t want to hear the ravens simply made adjustments for why aj brown was shutout in the first quarter and second half. The ravens have been one of the worst pass defenses in the league. rice, Adams, chase 2x, Pickens and some others have taken it too them consistently. I don’t believe for a second the ravens after 12 weeks made schematical adjustments in the second half to shutdown aj brown so bad he got 0 targets. That’s BS. Our play calling in 1st and 3rd quarter was just not very good. If you go back and re-watch it the tv copy it proves that. Credit to defense keeping us in it so Moore could get into a rhythm in 2nd quarter and 4th where Oline and Barkley took over.
